Mrs. Eunice Shatwell

Mrs. Eunice F. Shatwell, 75, of Hagarville died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

She was a native of Missouri, daughter of the late Albert and Parliee Hoffman Overmon, and a former employee of Kenner Boat Company.

Survivors include her husband, Scott Shatwell; two daughters, Carolyn Balkcom of Clarksville and Christine Kennedy of Bates; one son, Felix Shatwell of Clarksville; one sister, Ada Belle Brown of Haskell, Okla.; three brothers, Burl Overmon of Derby, Kan., Rupert Overmon of Checotah, Okla., and Russell Overmon of Eufaula, Okla.; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Birdsong officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Clarence Madewell, David Smith, Reddell Shatwell, Jairus Martin, Kevin Walton, and William Ragsdale.

Honorary pallbearer was Chris Ragsdale.

James V. Duck

James Vaughnell Duck, 68, of Lamar died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at his home.

He was a son of the late Melvin H. and Opal Sexton Duck, a Baptist, and employed as an explosive expert.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Smith of Loving, N. M., Marla Duck of Atascadero, Calif., and Terry Reed of Lamar; one son, James M. Duck of Clarkston, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Janet Oliger of Lamar; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Marie Marshall Duck Sharp.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff P. Cheatham officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Kevin Simmons, Cody Brand, Kevin Parrish, Randy Short, Max Reed, and Ancil Hutchins.

Honorary pallbearer was Rocky Hill.

J. Howard Ellison

John Wesley Howard Ellison, 59, of Rogers died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at his home.

He was born at Catalpa to John Wesley and Lillie Mae Cowan Ellison, a machine operator for Emerson Electric for 17 years and a supervisor for Allen Canning Company in Springdale for nine years.

Among the survivors are three sons, David Ellison of Martown, Steven Anderson of Tulsa, Okla., and Torin Anderson of Rogers; four brothers, Cecil Ellison of Pasadena, Texas, George Ellison of Springdale, Noah Ellison of Marshall, Texas, and Clois Ellison of Fayetteville; four sisters, Lois Self and Mildred Patrick, both of West Fork, Lorene Lenhart of Russellville, and Johnnie Melson of Wesley; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Rogers.

Mrs. Ouida Adkison

Mrs. Ouida Adkison, 70, of Russellville died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Hot Springs.

She was receptionist and co-owner of Clarksville radio station KLYR, co-owner of the Ben Franklin Department Store in Paris, former employee of the International Shoe Company, daughter of the late John and Laura Lewellen Hipps, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville.

Survivors include her husband, Reece Adkison; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Terri Adkison of Bossier City, La.; four brothers, Chester Hipps and L. C. Hipps, both of Russellville, Hoyt Hipps of North Little Rock, and Emmitt Hipps of Sedgwick, Kan.; one sister, Alma Carson of Russellville; one granddaughter, Ashton Adkison of Bossier City, La.; one grandson, Jordan Adkison of Bossier City, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Larry Moore, Rev. David R. Hawkins, and Rev. J. B. Rye officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers were Bus Rye, J. B. Underhill, Paul Frank Smith, Bobby Sorrels, Jimmy Hamilton, and Errie Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers were St. Mary's Home Health Care workers and the Volunteer Care Ministry Women of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville.

Paul D. Morrow

Paul D. Morrow, 62, of Liberty, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Liberty Hospital.

He was a native of Hartman, son of the late Homer and Atha Irving Morrow, Methodist, member of Springhill Masonic Lodge No. 118 at Hartman, employed as a machinist for Trans World Airlines at the Kansas City Overhaul Base from 1967 until retirement in 1994, member of Machinist Union Local No. 1650 and the Arrat Shrine, and was past commander of the Oriental Commandry.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Judy Morrow; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Rick Hendon of Kansas City, Mo., and Rhonda and Clayton Dodd of Smithville, Mo.; two sisters, Carol Rands of De Ridder, La., and Janice Killian of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren, Timothy Dodd, Kevin Dodd and Crystal Dodd.

Masonic services were held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Prichard Funeral Home Chapel in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Prichard Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hillcrest cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hospice.

Velma Romines

Velma Romines, 86, of Russellville died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Stella Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Paris, daughter of the late Murdy Ola Paschal and Warren G. McCoy, member of the Presbyterian Church and former employee of the state of California.

She is survived by one daughter, Lana Billingsley of Dover; one son, James Romines of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Rachel Romines of Paris, Mary Isabell of Russellville and Lesta Rhea Hice of Bishop, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with Rev. Bob Isrell officiating. Burial was in the Caulksville City cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shawn Baker, Matt Taylor, Mark Ross, Jay Smith, Jimmy Stephens, and Ricky Koster.

Charles David Tong

Charles David (Charlie Chuck) Tong, 50, of Herlong, Calif., formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in Truckee, Calif.

While in California he was employed as a truck driver for Sierra Pacific Industry, formerly employed in landscaping and in explosives at Sierra Army Depot for five years, and was a member of the Arkansas Express and Tennessee Whisky bands.

He was a son of the late Pauline Woolsey and the late Noah L. Tong. As a Clarksville resident he was employed as a truck driver and supervisor and was a member of the Knee Deep, Alix, and Wild Country bands.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Norma Tong; three daughters, Paula Eakins of Herlong, Calif., and Mistie Tong and Kristie Tong, both of the home; four sons, Mike Tong of San Marcos, Texas, Wayne Tong of Herlong, Calif., Noah Tong of Doyle, Calif., and Jason Tong of the home; two sisters, JoAnn Griffith and Helen Gipson, both of Clarksville; one brother, Jimmy Tong of Clarksville; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday, Oct. 3, in Doyle, Calif.

The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held at the Kendall cemetery near Hartman at a later date.
