Floyd C. Manly

Floyd C. Manly, 74, of Russellville, whose son and daughter-in-law, T. Alex and Jennifer Manly, reside in Clarksville, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.

He was a native of Detroit, Mich., son of the late Floyd and Sophia Szymanski Manly, United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan with a fighter bomber squadron, owner-operator of the Subway restaurants in Russellville for 20 years, former field engineer for Bechtel Power Corporation, president of the R. C. Modelers Club in the 1980s, former owner of a photography shop in Melbourne, Fla., employed with Boeing on the N.A.S.A. moon shot for four years, columnist for sy0cf1Model Airplane Newssy0cf1 in 1982-83, wrote articles for sy0cf1R. C. Modelersy0cf1 magazine, designed model airplanes which were printed and sold by sy0cf1R. C. Modelersy0cf1 magazine, a card player, motorcyclist, snowmobiler and gun collecter. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Rynkowski; and one brother, Robert Manly.

Other survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dona L. Manly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa L. and Kim Altman of Dover and Laura J. and Bruce Page of Sallisaw, Okla.; mother-in-law, Hazel I. Stern of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Migdalia Rynkowski of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Karen Hicks of Monroe, Mich., and Linda Steffes of Farewell, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Derek, Kyle and Ashley Altman, Ryan Page, Audra Page Meahl, and Sierra, Genevieve and Sophia Manly; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Russellville with Rev. Mackey Yokem officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Honorary pallbearers were Wednesday night poker buddies and Gaines Smith.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205-1573 or First United Methodist Church Manna Fund, 301 South Denver Avenue, Russellville, AR 72801.

James E. Dobbs

James Ernest Dobbs, 74, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his home.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Verdis McKinley and Lillian Cline Dobbs, retired Clarksville Wood Products employee after 45 years of service, Baptist, and trustee of the Woodland Community Building.

Survivors are his wife, Harolene Ritchey Dobbs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Roger Frizzell and Susan and Danny Ward, all of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Amsey Garrett of Clarksville; grandchildren and spouses, Gregory Frizzell, Jeffrey and Monica Frizzell, Wesley and Dana Frizzell, and Amanda and Scott McCormick, all of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Kelsey Frizzell, both of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.

Jean McKinney

Jean McKinney, 73, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Jeremiah and Rose Graf Hickey, graduate of Chicago High School in Chicago, Ill., member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a retired Wal-Mart employee.

Survivors are her husband, Dave McKinney; two daughters, Debbie Talley and Dorothea McKinney, both of Clarksville; four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tanya McKinney, Daniel and Rebecca McKinney, and Dwayne and Tammy McKinney, all of Clarksville and Donald and Julie McKinney of Fort Smith; two sisters, Judy Stack of Palos Park, Ill., and Barbara Stolnack of Santa Barbara, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating. The body was cremated following the funeral mass.

Active pallbearers were Danny Crosley, Tom Davenport, Pat Hilton, Dr. John Dunham, Bert Killane, and Willie Killane.

Honorary pallbearers were Brenda Johnson, Anita Kremers, Deanna Yates, Pee Wee Stroud and Deann Blackard.

Joe H. Shellnut

Joe Henry Shellnut, 63, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005.

He was a member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church, 32nd degree Mason, and owner-operator truck driver for Clarksville Refrigerated Lines and won "Driver of the Year" for 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Jacie Shellnut; three daughters and one son-in-law, Karen and Leon Fleming and Lisa Hunt, all of Maumelle and Michelle Graves of Redfield; one stepson and spouse, Lee and Jamie Payton of Clarksville; one stepdaughter, Jacie Ann Joiner of Meridian, Miss.; one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and L. V. Smith of Sheridan; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Barbara Shellnut of Sheridan; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Marlow Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.

Burial was in Bethel cemetery under the direction of North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Katherine Godfrey

Katherine Godfrey, 80, of Lamar died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Arkansas Hospice Hospital of Little Rock.

She was a former resident of Auburndale, Fla., sales clerk, member of the First Baptist Church of Russellville, widow of Wyatt Godfrey, daughter of the late Justina (Toma) and John Groza Sr., and was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Bulza, and two brothers, Joe and John Groza.

She is survived by four sisters, Anna Ehlers of Florida, and Florence Kobe, Lee Harlow and Sophie Kobe, all of California; and one brother, Peter (Pete) Groza of California.

Funeral was at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Walker officiating. A second service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Auburndale, Fla., with Rev. Charles Harkala officiating. Burial will be in Auburndale Memorial Park in Auburndale, Fla.

Honorary pallbearers include R. Doug Knoernschild, Don Knoernschild, Mark Kobe, Brent Groza, Dr. Charles Clifton and Shane Knoernschild.

Rev. Loren Famuliner

Rev. Loren Edward Famuliner, 68, of Knoxville died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at his home.

He was a minister with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and had pastored in Seattle, Wash., Fayette, Corder and Waverly, Mo., Grace Lutheran Church in Clarksville and Zion Lutheran Church at Augsburg. He was a son of the late E. Bryce and Genevieve J. Davis Famuliner and was preceded in death by one son, Russell Famuliner; one sister; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Famuliner; two daughters, Rae Ann Gore of Newberg, Ore., and Carol Lynn Vincent of Tualatin, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church at Augsburg with Rev. Herb Swanson officiating. Burial was private. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church at Augsburg.

Norma Edgmon

Norma Edgmon, 80, of Mossville died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

She was a native of Wayton, lifelong resident of Newton County, daughter of the late Henry Allen and Jencie Viola Casey Henderson, widow of Wilson Edgmon, member of Mossville United Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie and Arvil Edgmon; two daughters, Kathleen and Iva Carol Edgmon; four brothers, Vernie, Lester, Bill and Archie Henderson; three sisters, Lillie Edgmon, Beulah Hampton and Isabel Daniels; and two infant great-grandchildren.

Survivors are two sons and three daughters-in-law, James and Hellen Edgmon of Ozone, Garrett and Minnie Edgmon of Clarksville, and Ina Edgmon of Oark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darcus and Wade Harderson of Mossville and Viola and Clifford Robertson of Prairie View; one brother, Paul Henderson of Wayton; two sisters, Lura Henderson of Wayton and Delilah Wilson of Seneca, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Mossville United Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Young officiating.

Burial was in Mossville cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.

Active pallbearers were Johnny Harderson, James Edgmon, Dean Edgmon, Stanley Edgmon, Jamey Edgmon, and Chris Edgmon.

Honorary pallbearers were Jim Edgmon, Johnny D. Harderson, Francis Ragsdale, Shannon Ragsdale, Gaylon Ragsdale and Brandon Ragsdale.

Ruth P. Gillian

Ruth Margaret Price Gillian, 84, of South Fulton, Tenn., formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Ky.

A native of Russellville, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Holloway Moore, retired employee of Morton Foods in Russellville, and was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Price and James K. (Red) Gillian; one son, Jerry Price; one sister, Annabelle Moore; and two brothers, Frank Moore Jr. and Sherman Moore.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Bill Wyatt Jr. of South Fulton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Moore officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery at Russellville.

Pallbearers were Sam Moore, Tim Grissom, Mitchell Price, Zackery Price, Donald Meek, and Bob Whitkanack.
