Velma Lorene Bryce, 81, of Morrilton, formerly of Hector, the widow of Barney Bryce, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at the Morrilton Healthcare Center.
A daughter of the late Troy Franklin and Elpha Alice Duck Epperson, she was born Feb. 7, 1925 in Lurton, Ar.
She attended the Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Higdon, and a sister, Lucille Morris.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Charles Higdon of Fayetteville; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Anna Belle Epperson of Hector; a sister and brother-in-law, Floy and Carl Blanchard of Scott, Ar.; three grandchildren, Andy Higdon of Fayetteville, Chris Higdon of Conway, and Carol Higdon of California; three great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
A graveside service and Burial will be conducted by Shinn Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, at Rock Springs Cemetery near Hector. Leland and Julia Franklin will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Rolen Detrick
Rolen Detrick, 82, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1924, in Yell County to Joseph Si and Ola Mae Turner Detrick.
He was a truck driver and of the Assembly of God faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dolen Detrick; a daughter, Janet Detrick; two brothers, Olen Detrick and Johnny Detrick; and a sister and brother-in-law, Angia Lee and Jack Selby.
Survivors include his wife, Dortha Womack Detrick of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Billie Detrick of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, China Ann and Ron Mortensen of Russellville and Susie and Buddy Bright of Russellville; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Johnny McCoy officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers were Buddy, Brad, and Joe Bright, Larry Selby, Joe Detrick, and Joe Grigsby. Honorary pallbearers were Dub Hampton, James Morphis, Leslie Bowden, and Houston Heflin.

Ruby Hampton
Ruby Marie Hampton, 82, of Dover, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
The daughter of Benjamin and Dora Valentine Solomon, she was born March 15, 1924 in Marshall.
She was a homemaker. She attended church at the Atkins Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter Joseph Hampton; a daughter, Patsy Darlene Hampton; two brothers, Alvin Solomon and Claudie Solomon; three sisters, Winnie Walton, Cora Corn, and Francis Alexander; and two great grandsons, Travis Scott Hampton and Ethan Blackshire.
She is survived by seven sons, Kenneth Hampton of Dover, Roy Hampton, of London, Jim Hampton of Dover, David Hampton of Dover, Donald Hampton of Russellville, Ronnie Hampton of Dover, Joseph Hampton of Lamar; four daughters, Joyce Hampton of Clarksville, Carolyn Brown of Dover, Donna Pentzer of Ozark, Belinda Lewis of Russellville; 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God Church in Dover. Burial was at Coleman Cemetary at Pelsor by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Ethel Newell
Ethel (Turney) Newell, 98, of Russellville, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
The daughter of G.B. and Minnie Williams Turney, she was born Nov. 23, 1908 in Searcy County.
She was a Homemaker and a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Newell; her parents; a son, Ralph Newell; several brothers and sisters and her sister-in-law and best friend, Lucy Turney.
She is survived by a son, Raymond Newell of Atkins; a daughter, Audrey Taylor of Sandpoint, Idaho; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Wade of Russellville; several nieces and nephews and her caregiver, Jean Laymon of Russellville.
Funeral services were Thursday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church with Bro. Devoe Campbell officiating. Burial was at Old Baptist Cemetery at Center Valley by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Harriet Pauley
Harriet H. Pauley, 84, of Russellville, former resident of Tallahassee, Fla. for 32 years, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
The daughter of John and Margaret (Taylor) Heron, she was born Nov. 30, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Penn.
She was the wife of L. Edward "Ed" Pauley, retired Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCI, Tallahassee. Harriet retired from Gayfer's Department Store (now Dillard's) and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elsdon Heron; one grandson, Matthew Weeks; and one granddaughter, Lauren Weeks.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, L. Edward Pauley of Russellville; a daughter, Rebecca Weeks and husband, Len, of Russellville; a son, Larry E. Pauley of Panama City, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Mindy Walker and husband, James, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Darrell Kobs officiating. Burial will be at Bakers Creek Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edith Griffin
Edith Griffin, 92, a resident of Russellville, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at her home.
She was born March 3, 1914 at Higgins, Texas to John Henry and Serena Elizabeth Osborn Roach.
She was a member of The Journey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Griffin; three brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon L. and Frances Griffin of Walker of Louisiana; a daughter and son-in-law, Di Ann and Charley Cole of Pottsville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Gordon Jr. and Sherry Griffin of Homestead, Fla., Gary and Lori Griffin of Walker, La., Martha and Paul Chopin of Denham Springs, La., Malinda and Keith Walker of Honolulu, Hawaii, Scott and Shelley Cole of Russellville and Misty and Eric Fox of Pottsville and twelve great grandchildren.

Gertrude Chronister
Dimple Gertrude Chronister, 74, of Atkins passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 31, 1932, in California and was the daughter of the late Ira and Pearl Williams Givens.
She was a homemaker and attended Sweet Home Free Will Baptist.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Pearl Givens and a son, Jim Chronister.
She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 59 years, Joe Chronister; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Dena Chronister; her daughter, Barbara Edwards and her children, Larry Joe Edwards, Bobbie Joe Edwards Biley, Teresa Haney Bates and Jenny Haney; her daughter-in-law, Viola Chronister, and her blended family with son, Jim, Tammy Chronister Messmer, Shannon Chronister, David Hughes, Matt Hughes, Tim Hughes and Danielle Chronister; 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hank Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Larry Joe Edwards, Eddie Ray and Glen Chronister, Matt Hughes, Tim Hughes and Benny Carter. Honorary Bearers will be John and Richie Davis and Levi Bates.

William Taylor
William R. "Bill" Taylor, 82, a resident of New Boston, Texas, formerly of Russellville died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at the New Boston Healthcare Center.
He was born Aug. 11, 1924, at London to William Thomas and Estelle Archer Taylor. He retired from P. O. M. after 39 years and was a member of the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera Taylor; a daughter, Marilyn Clubb; and a grandson, James Deaver.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Deaver of Fort Smith and Pat and Clarence Verlon Abram of New Boston, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jim Garris of Waco, Texas; and four grandchildren, Clay Clubb of Searcy, Aaron Clubb of Springdale, Vicki Owens of Heber Springs, and Clinton Abram of New Boston, Texas.
Graveside services were held Friday at McFadden Cemetery in Dover with the Rev. A. E. "Bo" Coffman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Honorary pallbearers were Burl Hankins, Gene Burris, and the deacons of the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.
Rayburn Tackett
Rayburn L. Tackett, 94, of Russellville, formerly of Sulphur, La., died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville.
The son of Thomas Lee and May Caudle Tackett, he was born Aug. 15, 1912 in Hector. He was a 1934 graduate of Atkins High School. He married Floreania Jackson on Sept. 2, 1934 in Atkins.
During World War II, Rayburn worked at the Cities Service Oil Company Powder Plant in Maumelle. In 1942 he transferred to the company's Oil Refinery in Lake Charles, Louisiana making high octane aviation fuel for the United States Government. His career with Citgo spanned 36 years and he retired in 1977.
Rayburn and Floreania traveled extensively during their retirement years, including a trip to Israel with members of the First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. Floreania died on February 24, 1994 in Sulphur, having celebrated 59 years of marriage with Rayburn.
During a return trip to Pope County to visit family and friends, Rayburn became re-acquainted with his high school classmate, Kate English Humphrey. They were married on Dec. 31, 1998 in Russellville. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Worshipful Master of the Peace and Harmony Lodge in Sulphur. He was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana. Following his move to Russellville he became a member of the West Side Church of Christ.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nola Hurley; and four brothers, Arlie, Euel, Leland and Doyle Tackett.
He is survived by his wife, Kate Humphrey Tackett of Russellville; a son, Roland Tackett and wife, Wanda, of Sulfur, La.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Richardson of Sulfur, La., and Vicki Strahan and husband, Delbert, of Lake Charles, La.; four great-grandchildren, Dac Strahan of Lake Charles, La., Kelley Strahan of Lake Charles, La., Ashley Wood, Sulphur of La., and Amber Westbrook of Spring, Texas; a sister, Stella Pierce of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Alvis Tackett of Atkins; three great great-granddaughters, Alexis, Aidan and Adyson; a stepson, Jim Bob Humphrey and wife, Betty, of Russellville; three step-grandchildren; Elizabeth Humphrey of New Orleans, La., Jennifer Humphrey of Bentonville, James Humphrey of Russellville; a step great-grandson, Landon Humphrey of Bentonville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Humphrey Chapel. Mr. Dan Lightfoot and Mr. Jim Bob Humphrey will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at Atkins by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Stella Sanders
Stella Sanders, 96, a resident of Dover, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 10, 1910, at Scottsville to John Andrew and Nancy Owens Goates.
She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Odell Sanders; a son, John C. Sanders; two brothers; five sisters, and four great-grandsons.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Elmer and Jane Sanders of Pottsville and Ronnie and Brenda Sanders of Dover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jewell and Dean Underwood of Scottsville, Patsy and Raymond Chance of Pottsville and Shirley Laymon of Russellville; a daughter-in-law, Marie Sanders of Lodi, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and 35 great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Russellville officiated by the Rev. Bobby Judkins and Mr. Devoe Campbell. Burial was in Goates Cemetery at Scottsville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers were Garry Huffman, Clancie Laymon, Jimmy Dotson, Tony Laymon, Dennis Huffman and Brad Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren.
Evelyn Hoff
Evelyn Beyer Hoff, 98, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.
She was a native of Iowa, born March 28, 1909, daughter of Grace and Edward Beyer.
On May 6, 1933, she married Lin Hoff Jr., of Belle Plaine, Iowa. Lin and Evelyn raised three children on an Iowa farm until 1963, when they moved to Russellville, (to find a warmer place).
Evelyn was an elementary school teacher, an officer of the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs, a Sunday School teacher, and was a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She participated in Shakespeare Club and Current Book Review Club. After her husband's death on Dec. 8, 1988, she moved to Parkway Village in Little Rock. There she joined the Bible Church of Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Joan Ray, in 1997; and a brother, Kenneth Beyer, in 2002.
Survivors include a son, Duane Dean Hoff of Texas; a daughter, Carol Martin (Robert) of North Little Rock; a son-in-law, Tom Ray (Charlotte) of Texas; a brother, Wayne Beyer of Missouri; a sister-in-law, Nadine Olson of Iowa; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday at Rest Haven Memorial Park, officiated by her grandson, Pastor Heath Clower.

Hazel Littleton
Hazel Duvall Littleton, 98, of Atkins died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Atkins Nursing Center.
She was born June 25, 1909, in Tuckerman, Ark., the daughter of Dale and Sarah Sexton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dona Duvall; brother, Artie Woody; two daughters, Mary Lou Crabtree and Barbara Duvall.
She is survived by her sons, Jerl D. Duvall, Alfred Duvall and Gary Duvall all of Atkins; daughters, Jaunita Armer of Dallas, Ore., Loretta "Bo" Casarez of Elgin, Okla., Delois Burnett of Atkins, Martha Hern of Atkins, and Sharon Creek of Hico, Texas; special friend, Holland Wirth of Atkins, 31 grandchildren, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, at Lemley Chapel, the Rev. Chad Duvall officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Cecil Prince
Cecil H. Prince, 90, a resident of Russellville, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the Stella Manor Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Florida to William Henry and Fannie Lucille Austell Prince.
Cecil was a member of the Saint John's Catholic Church and the V. F. W. Rogers-Rye Post 2283. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Cecil came from a large family and loved to build and work with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, and seven sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Stephen Prince and Mark Prince, both of Russellville, Vincent Prince of Van Buren, and Jason Prince of Russellville; a daughter Angie Jackson of Russellville; two sisters, Thelma Ruth Rankin of Lafayette, La. and Lavonne Parga of Reno, Nev.; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at the Saint John's Catholic Church with Fr. William F. Thomas officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the V. F. W. Rogers-Rye Post 2283 will be in Ball Hill Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Brad Prince, Chris Prince, Dusten Russell, Danny DuVall, Chris Reed, and Ralph Horner.

Earnest Jackson
Earnest Lynn Jackson, 78, of Sherwood, died Feb. 5, 2008, at his home.
The son of Leonard Jackson and Creola Bowden Jackson, he was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Russellville.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock where he was a member of the Challenger Sunday School Class. Colonel Jackson retired after serving 39 years with the Arkansas Army National Guard at Camp Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jana Jackson and his father, Leonard Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jane Jackson of Sherwood; two children, Sharon Dickson and husband, Fred, of North Little Rock and Laveta Tibbett and husband, Don, of Heber Springs; three grandchildren, Lori Lemley and husband, Drew, of Conway, Luke Tibbett and Kristin of Maumelle, and Jenni Kellar and husband, John, of Nashville, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Creola Jackson of Russellville; and one sister, Sylvia Blaney and husband, Don, of Russellville.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8, at the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rod Loy will officiate.
Graveside service and Burial will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at Rankin Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Humphrey Funeral Service, prior to the graveside service.

John Harrison
John G. Harrison Jr., 89, a resident of Russellville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 8, 1918, at Henrietta, Mo., to John Gipson and Lura Ann Davidson Harrison.
He was the general manager at Standard Rendering Company where he worked for over 40 years. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 2nd Calvary and later in the 9th Armored Division, 19th Tank Battalion. As a 1st Sergeant he was awarded three Bronze Stars for his participation in the Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe Campaigns. He enjoyed farming and ranching and was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vinita Harrison of Russellville; four children and their spouses, John G. Harrison III and wife, Susie of Wichita, Kan., Anna Jean Wichmann and husband, Joseph, of Russellville, Jan Michael Harrison Sr. and wife, Brenda, of Russellville, and Jeffrey Lynn Harrison and wife, Sherri, of Russellville; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
