John L. Zimpel

John L. Zimpel, 80, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
A native of Sterling, Okla., he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Regina Werner Zimpel, Coast Guard veteran of World War II, member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Bunch Walton Post No. 22, graduate of Subiaco Academy, and past president of Clarksville Rotary Club.
He began selling homemade hot tamales in 1932, and was the owner-operator of several businesses in Clarksville during the past 45 years including City Food Shop, Quality Market, Fairway Market, Holiday Lanes, A. G. Food Market, and Holiday Coin Laundry.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Hedwig Zimpel, and one brother, Joseph W. Zimpel.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Loretta Zimpel; four daughters, Mrs. Danny (Mary) Smith of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Albert (Jeanie) Baltz of Fayetteville, Mrs. Glenn (Margie) Trembley of Omaha, Neb., and Judy Zimpel of Fayetteville; one son, John B. Zimpel of Mabelvale; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Barry (Debbie) Park of Clarksville and Donna Davis of Sallisaw, Okla.; one sister, Margaret Bachner of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel by Abbot Jerome Kodell. Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Victor Gillespie, Rev. Raphael DeSalvo, Rev. Sebastian Beshoner, and Rev. David Bellinghausen officiating. Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Charlie Bauer, Gene Raible, Al Lorfing, Kent Cecil, Hank Paladino, and John Hilton.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Bender, Bernard Crabtree, Freeman Wish, Floyd Pledger, Edward Fritchie, and Donald Plugge.

Mrs. Lorene M. Laster

Mrs. Lorene M. Laster, 89, of Coal Hill died Friday, May 21, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, widow of Homer Laster, and daughter of the late Mitchell and Edna Hurt King.
She is survived by one daughter, Gail Williams of Coal Hill; one son, James Douthit of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Lisa Sturdivant of Ozark, Melissa Bramlett of Fort Smith, Robin Hudspeth of Lamar, and Mark Douthit of Nashville, Tenn.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Coal Hill cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Murl E. Goodin

Murl E. Goodin, 82, of Little Rock died Monday, May 17, 1999.
He was a son of the late George and Martha Goodin, World War II veteran and served in the 84th Infantry, recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, member of Toastmasters International and NARFE, and a Baptist.
He retired in 1976 after 37 years of federal service from the Little Rock District Corps of Engineers where he was selected to be a member of the Gallery of Distinguished Employees. He also served as a volunteer for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Hunter Safety Program for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Hughes Goodin, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one sister, Lillian Goodin Muldoon of Whittier, Calif.; one stepsister, Geneva Bell Williamson of Mabelvale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth in Little Rock with burial in Rest Hills cemetery.

Mrs. Martha Scroggins

Mrs. Martha (Jettie) Jannette Scroggins, 87, died in a Lawton (Oklahoma) nursing home.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Rachel D. Parker Riley, widow of Jeff Scroggins, a Baptist, 15-year employee of Greswald Cleaners, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Delaney; granddaughter, Kelley Diane Newson; two sisters, Lizabeth Crooks and Letha Mae Dunn Davis; and two brothers, Marvin Esther Riley and William E. (Bill) Riley.
Survivors include one daughter, Jo Anna Nelsen of Lawton, Okla.; one son, Mickie Scroggins of Clinton, Okla.; one sister, Alpha Hyder of Hartman; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. May 6 at Highland cemetery with Rev. David Gordon officiating.

Mrs. Neita Jo Isenhart

Mrs. Neita Jo Isenhart, 67, of Hartman died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a Baptist, retired beautician, daughter of the late John Wiley and Hattie Carlislie Roberts, and preceded in death by one sister, Marie McAnally, and two brothers, Jasper Dewey Roberts and Heartsille Ragon Roberts.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Isenhart; one daughter, Karen Jo Hall of Republic, Mo.; four sisters, Mabel Ashlock, Gussie Yasevich, and Jonnie Teltow, all of Clarksville, and Faye Sisk of Lamar; and two grandchildren, Steven Hall of Hartman and Angie Hall of Coal Hill.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Ken Ashlock officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ronnie Roberts, Bob McAnally, Mac Clark, Gayland Holman, George Palmer, and Gary Jacobs.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Teltow, Don Ashlock, Tom McAnally, John Bowman, James Robinson, Bill Adams, Lester Hampton, Pat Warren, and John O'Quest.

Mrs. Onnie M. Miracle

Mrs. Onnie M. Miracle, 86, of Clarksville died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church, widow of Walter I. Miracle, and daughter of the late Charles W. and Ellen Hudson Hartlein.
She is survived by two daughters, Eldarene Sexton and Murieta Rogers, both of Clarksville; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 27, at the First Landmark Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.
Burial will be in Harmony cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Sanford, Doyle Caldwell, Wayne Pyron, Wendell Lee, Nathan Caldwell, and Justin Sanford.

Mrs. Barbara Soard

Mrs. Barbara Ann Soard, 54, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at her home.
She was a cafeteria employee and preceded in death by one brother, Louie Don Pratt.
Survivors include her husband, Fred L. Soard; one daughter, Laquita Leann Yates of Clarksville; one son, Darren Clayton Soard of Clarksville; parents, Lawrence H. and Luella Skidgel Pratt of Clarksville; one sister, Loretta Sue Hutchins of Lamar; and three brothers, Gary Lynn Pratt of Mountainburg, Lawrence Dean Pratt of Clarksville, and Irvin Lee Pratt of Fort Smith.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at East Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Airy cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Carl Easley, Arlin Wilkins, Ken Wood, Jackie Young, William Felkins, and Louie Leeds.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert G. King, Larry Taylor, Floyd White, and Ted Young.
Memorials may be made to Phillips Cancer Support House, 2510 Dodson, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Mrs. Carol Laudermilk

Mrs. Carol Ann Laudermilk, 60, died May 19, 1999, at her home in San Bernardino, Calif.
She was a former resident of Clarksville, daughter of the late Zelma Shriner and Carl Blair, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Irene Laudermilk, great-granddaughter, Emily Ann Stevens, and brother, Carl Edward Blair.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Laudermilk; two sons, Kenneth Laudermilk Jr. of Covina, Calif., and Keith Laudermilk of California; six daughters, Dessie Moye of San Bernardino, Calif., Karen Turnbow of Adelanto, Calif., Carolyn Cotton and Penny Perry, both of Clarksville, Samantha Flaherty of Coal Hill, and Carla Garcia of Anaheim, Calif.; six sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; two brothers; 33 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial were in San Bernardino, Calif.
