Brenda Childers Bittle

Mrs. Brenda Louise Childers Bittle, 46, of Lamar died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at her home.
She was born at Clarksville, member of Lamar Church of Christ, graduate of Lamar High School and Capitol City Business College at Russellville, attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, employed as an accounts payable clerk at Johnson Regional Medical Center, and was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Childers, and one brother, Harold Dean Childers.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Bittle; one son, Ryan David Moore of Lamar; mother, Onella Bray Childers of Lamar; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Charles Over of Lamar and Rita and Jack Cline of Clarksville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, David Don and Ruby Childers of Clarksville and Melvyn Dain Childers of Lamar; five nieces; four nephews; eight great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Lamar Church of Christ with Mike Eppinette officiating.
Burial was in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Chad Over, Selby Brown, Darren Downs, Don Mueller, David Stumbaugh, and Adam Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Over, Jack Cline, and co-workers at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

Charles David Bennett

Charles David Bennett, 69, of Knoxville died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at his home.
Born in Holt, Ala., he was a son of the late D. (Doc) Benjamin and Cleo Fitsimmons Bennett, and retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Donna Ward Bennett; one daughter, Deborah Haughey of Colorado City, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Sarah E. Davis of Ola; one sister, Victoria Harris of Alabama; three brothers, Edward Bennett of Alabama, J. R. Bennett of Mississippi, and Ben Bennett of Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Area Agency on Aging.

Gene Petway

Gene Petway, 72, of Sunnyvale, Calif., died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at his home.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Lucian F. and Jewell Pyle Petway, former resident of Coal Hill, and retired from the United States Navy.
He is survived by one sister, Ina Johnston of Coal Hill; one brother, Kenneth Petway of Rogers; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial were in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Jerry Lee Lindsey

Jerry Lee Lindsey, 45, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at his home.
He was disabled and son of the late Carl Lee Lindsey.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Lindsey of Clarksville; grandmother, Ora Shatwell of Clarksville; three sisters, Jane Kirby of Blytheville and Paula Cleveland and Donna Lambert, both of Gosnell; and three brothers, Eddie Lindsey, Freddie Lindsey, and Michael Lindsey, all of Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Holman cemetery with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Duane Baublit, Bobby Thomas, Robin Williams, Eddie Lindsey Jr., James Chandler, and Chris Kirby.
Honorary pallbearer was Mac Courtney.
Memorials may be made to Fund No. 0227843 at Farmers Bank and Trust Company in Clarksville.

Mrs. Jouree E. Williams

Mrs. Jouree E. Williams, 80, of Siloam Springs died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Homer and Lizzie Cowen Patterson, former resident of Clarksville, member of the Hays Chapel United Methodist Church, retired activity director and former house parent at John Brown University, member of the Siloam Springs Writer's Guild, and had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Siloam Springs.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Earl R. Williams; one son and daughter-in-law, F. Earl and Beth Williams of Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Jerry Jones of Siloam Springs; four grandchildren, Susan Kelly of Siloam Springs, Jouree Hardin of Galveston, Texas, Jeff Williams of Olathe, Kan., and Kevin Williams of Highland, Ill.; one brother and sister-in-law, Marion (Pat) and Elena Patterson of Siloam Springs; and two sisters, Riley Mann of Wagoner, Okla., and Mildred Bennett of Ridgecrest, Calif.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with Rev. J. W. Walker officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Siloam Springs Chapter of the Gideons.

Mrs. Lillian Thompson

Mrs. Lilliam Janovy Thompson, 88, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, extension homemakers club, and Order of the Eastern Star, widow of Chester E. Thompson, daughter of the late Frank D. and Anna Vodiska Janovy, and was a secretarial oil industry employee.
She is survived by one sister, Helen Janovy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three nephews, Ed Jeter and Ron Jeter, both of California, and John Janovy Jr. of Nebraska; and one niece, Teresa Gutierrez of Ohio.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Oakland cemetery with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ollie Mae Mauldin

Mrs. Ollie Mae Mauldin, 90, of Clarksville died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Titus County, Texas, daughter of the late Charlie and Lydia Stanley Ragan, widow of C. F. Mauldin, member of the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church and the Women's Ministries, and was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Mauldin.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Pitts of Clarksville and Bessie Spurgin of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Cecil Mauldin of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; one brother, Roy Ragan of Benton; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church with Rev. David Reddick officiating. Burial was at 4 p.m. in New Hope cemetery at Hampton. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Herb Phillips, Kenneth Hatchett, Wesley Kendrick, Carl Williams, David Gilliam, and Edd Young.

Mrs. Sylvia Litsey

Mrs. Sylvia Litsey, 60, of Dover, mother of Henryetta Jennings of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a native of Pope County, daughter of the late Sam and Hazel Ann Hurst Shaddon, member of the Gumlog Fellowship Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Mikle Litsey, and two brothers, Eugene Shaddon and Chester Shaddon.
Survivors include her husband, Elvis Litsey; two sons, Sammie Litsey and Johnny Litsey, both of Dover; two other daughters, Lisa Ramberg of Dover and Becky Robinson of Houston; three brothers, Ed Shaddon of Dover, Boyce Shaddon of Atkins, and Cecil Shaddon of Hector; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Rushing cemetery at Dover with Rev. David Jay officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Pallbearers were Jimmy McVay, Johnny Moore, Tim Shaddon, Phillip Smart, Randy Wells, Bobby Walker, and Frankie Duvall.

Allen Ray Elam

Allen Ray Elam, 70, of Chandler, Okla., died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999.
He was a native of the Piney Community, son of the late William Richard and Mary Lynn Harless Elam, served in the U. S. Army where he was a cannoneer with the artillery, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Mae Wurst and Luise Horten.
Survivors include seven daughters, Ellen Elam of Chandler, Okla., Shelia Money of California, Wanna Elam and Donna Elam, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rita Khouri of Israel, Tammy Hendricks of Moore, Okla., and Chrystal Sinor of Missouri; two brothers, Richard Elam of Lemon Grove, Calif., and Dan Elam of Knoxville; one sister, Mamie Manning of Van Buren; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Baggerley-South Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Scoggins officiating. Burial was at Smith cemetery in Moore, Okla.
