Mrs. Clio T. Kettelhut

Mrs. Clio Thompson Kettelhut, 87, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at her home.

She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Tillman and Roxie Ross Thompson, widow of Marvin Kettelhut, member of the First Presbyterian Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a charter member of the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association.

She was a retired public school teacher having taught 36 years in Oklahoma and Arkansas with the last 26 years at Lamar where she was high school principal. During her teaching career she belonged to both State and National educational organizations where she served on several committees.

She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, the University of the Ozarks, and the University of Arkansas. She also had advanced graduate work from the University of Oklahoma and the University of Northeast Oklahoma at Tahlequah.

She had no immediate survivors.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lance Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be former Lamar High School students, George Overbey, Rickey Casey, Leo Knoernschild, Norman Reynolds, Dale Rowbotham, Joe Hickey, James Duff, and Ronnie Zachary.

Dewey Acord

Dewey Acord, 83, of Hartman died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Hartman, son of the late Jim and Ethel Sexton Acord, farmer, Army veteran of World War II, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Acord; and one daughter, Patricia Jean Acord.

Survivors include four daughters, Diana Mayo of Fort Smith, Darlene Bowman of Hartman, and Virginia Woodall and Anna C. Overstreet, both of Ashdown; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Holt officiating. Burial was at Hartman cemetery.

Pallbearers were Travis Knight, John Bowman, Shawn Harmon, Bill Bowman Jr., Brandon Bowman, and Shane Bowman.

Mrs. Della Cox

Mrs. Della Cox, 78, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Arkansas Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

She was a native of Hagarville, daughter of the late Jimmy John and Rufina Breedlove Cowell, and widow of Edward Cox.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Ann Killough of Hagarville; two sons, Edward Earl Cox of Norman, Okla., and James Randolph Cox of Modesto, Calif.; one sister, Hettie Curtis of Flat Rock; two brothers, Jimmy Cowell of Hartman and William Cowell of Jamestown; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, at the Annie's Chapel cemetery with Rev. Danny Cowell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were John Adkins, Steve Cox, Edward Cox II, Edward Cox, Darrell Cox, and Clifton Cox.

Mrs. Delene V. Harris

Mrs. Delene Verna Harris, 90, of Booneville, mother of James Gibson of Coal Hill, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital.

She was the widow of Carolan Harris, a member of the First Baptist Church in Booneville and a member of the quilters club of the church.

She is survived by one daughter, Anita Tate of Russellville; one other son, David Harris of Russellville; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Carolan cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Campbell, Mike Campbell, Junior Gibson, Terry Don King, Jimmy D. Gibson, Gary Haag, Johnny Miller, and David Harris.

Darrell Overbey

Darrell Overbey, 71, of Newark, Ohio, died Jan. 21, 2000, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late Joseph Jackson and Claudia Jewell Killough Overbey, owner of Finders Flea Market of Newark, Ohio, a member of the Newark Eagles, served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Shirley Grissom Overbey; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Denise and Joe Giles, Doronda and Leo Foreman, and Cheryl Overbey, all of Newark, Ohio; one sister, Betty Jo Overbey of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, Loyd Jackson Overbey of Sikeston, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Chris and Ashley Overbey, and Katie and Eric Giles, all of Newark, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Criss-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Edge officiating. Burial was in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

James Ralph Garrett

James Ralph Garrett, 77, of Midwest City, Okla., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000.

He was born at Harmony, a son of the late Joe and Anna Garrett, graduate of Clarksville High School, served in the U. S. Army during World War II, was a salesman and member of Nicoma Park United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school superintendent and an adult Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Fern Rutherford Garrett; four daughters and sons-in-law, Edythe Kathleen and Roy Golightly of Norfork, Peggy Sue and Mike Selfridge of Harrah, Okla.; Lesa Diane and Tom Vasquez of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Terri Beth and Dennis Terrill of Midwest City, Okla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Glenn and Linda Garrett of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Robert Dan and Leah Garrett of Choctaw, Okla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Dorothy Garrett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Hall and Jean Garrett of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and John Williamson of Clarksville; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Nicoma Park United Methodist Church. Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Harmony cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Urban Mission "Santa Store."

Mrs. Lois M. Clute

Mrs. Lois Marie Clute, 65, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at her home.

She was a native of Gloversville, N. Y., and daughter of the late Harold and Marion Eggleston Graham.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Clute; seven sons, Mike Clute of New Orleans, La., Mark Clute of Colon, Mich., Ross Clute of Vilonia, Marvin Clute of Paris, Tracy Clute of Vernon, N. Y., George Clute and Mitch Clute of Los Lumas, N. M.; two sisters, Joan Aird and Beverly Millet, both of New York; two brothers, Harry Graham and Peter Graham, both of New York; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
