Charles H. Lee
Charles Harlin Lee, 84, of Wagoner, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in a Muskogee, Okla., hospital.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Charlie and Essie Shamblin Lee, a retired truck driver, Army veteran of World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star awards, and was preceded in death by his widow, Mattie Knight Lee, and one grandson, Charles Newton Lee.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Don and Terry Wayne Lee, both of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Avis Bohannon of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Coy Lee of Ozark; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Stanley Farmer officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Joyce Marie Wilson
Joyce Marie Wilson, 70, of Coal Hill died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at her home.
She was retired, a Catholic, daughter of the late Fred and Genavieve Lawson Jaynes, widow of Luke A. Wilson, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Kevin Wano Jr.
Survivors include five daughters, Gina Lynn Archer of Deer Park, Texas, Lou Ann Pitts of Clarksville, Mary Morgan and Kathy Wilson, both of Coal Hill, and Laurie Jaynes of Houston, Texas; one son, Larry Jaynes of La Porte, Texas; one sister, Armalene Franks of Pearland, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Roller-Cox Chapel. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus with Father Hilary Filiatreau officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike Fultz, William Pullen, Lee Tilley, Chris Lanphear, Luke Morgan, and Wes Hardin.
Honorary pallbearers were John Wayne Satterfield and Beau Morgan.
Oren Yates
Oren Yates, 53, of Russellville, son of Oren and Lorene Yates of Hartman, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home.
He was a native of Wasco, Calif., a 1971 cum laude graduate of the University of the Ozarks, a civil service employee for the U. S. Army and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, recipient of the Meritorious Service Award, a hospice administrator with Area Agency on Aging, a "corner man" with Goodnight Fightnight, Women's Professional Boxing with Stacy Goodson, and a member of House of Praise.
Other survivors include eight children, Kevin Yates of Montana, Charles Yates of Jacksonville, Joseph Yates of Mount Vernon, Patsy McConnell of Casa, and Jessica Yates, Magen Yates, Lance Yates, and Miranda Yates, all of Sulphur, La.; one brother, Orlan Teddy Yates of Hartman; two grandchildren; former wife, Patsy Yates Guillory of Sulphur, La.; two daughters-in-law; and one son-in-law.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rick Smith officiating. The body was cremated.

William G. Ross
Bishop William George Ross, 57, of Ozark, father of Virginia Webb of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Ozark.
He was a native of St. Louis, Mo., veteran of the U. S. Air Force, minister of the Seventh Day Pentecostal Church of Christ, and a radio announcer for KLYR Radio on the "King George Show."
He is survived by one other daughter, Neva Britton of Ozark; two sons, Kenneth and Harry Britton; mother, Geneva Hurley Ross of St. Louis, Mo.; grandmother, Alice Bell of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Andrew James Salazar and Larry Lee Salazar, both of St. Louis, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Roller Chapel in Paris with Rev. Roy Cox officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Paris.
Honorary pallbearers were Stephanie, Bruce and Allen Ray, Warren Kaston, James Hice, and Wayne Thacker.
McCraw Family
Margie Terry McCraw, John T. McCraw, Miriam F. McCraw
Margie Terry McCraw, 32, of Lamar and two children, John Thomas Terry McCraw, 4, and Miriam Faith Elida McCraw, 17 months, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in a house fire located on County Road 74.
Mrs. McCraw is a native of Russellville, graduate of Lamar High School, a summa cum laude graduate of the University of the Ozarks, member of Elida Baptist Church in New Mexico, math teacher at Lamar High School, former teacher at Oark and in Portales, N. M., and the granddaughter of the late Dewey Stone and the late Gus and Avline Terry.
Survivors include her husband, Gene McCraw; three daughters, Samantha McCraw, Emily McCraw, and Abigail McCraw, all of the home; parents, Billy G. and Judith Terry of Lamar; two brothers, Fred Terry and Daniel Terry, both of Lamar; four sisters, Clara Gordon of Magazine, Frances Terry of Marion, Cheryl Terry of Russellville, and Patty Terry of Lamar; and grandmother, Dorthula Stone of Hagarville.
John Thomas Terry McCraw is a native of Clarksville and Miriam Faith Elida McCraw is a native of Clovis, N. M.
They are survived by their father, Gene McCraw of Lamar; three sisters, Samantha McCraw, Emily McCraw, and Abigail McCraw, all of Lamar; grandparents, Billy G. and Judith Terry of Lamar and John and Wanda McCraw of Elida, N. M.; and great-grandmother, Dorthula Stone of Hagarville.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Lamar Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Milloway and Mike Eppinette officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Douglas cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Hale, Jamey Styles, Shane Gordon, David Graves, Leon Meimerstorf, and Larry Holben.
Margaret M. Hightower
Margaret M. Hightower, 78, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in Fort Smith.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksville and a retired salesperson for Midwest Distributing Company.
Survivors include her husband, James Joe Hightower; one daughter, Emma Gene Young of Geismar, La.; one son, Billy Joe Hightower of Arcadia, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Sasseen of Winter Springs, Fla., Katy Mills of Wichita, Kan., and Judy Barrow of Marshfield, Mo.; one brother, Jack Morris of Casselberry, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Brad Young, Kelly Hanuska of Clarksville, Mark Young, Dick Hazell, Jerry Hazell, Michelle Morrison, Susan Hightower, and John Hightower; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
The body was cremated.
Gretchen N. Blackburn
Gretchen Nickell Blackburn, 88, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ozark, she was a daughter of the late Warwick and Amelia Richter Nickell, widow of Roy R. Blackburn, member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville for 65 years and the Church Circle, and was preceded in death by one son, Don Blackburn.
She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, David and Tona Blackburn of Van Buren and Wanda Blackburn of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren, Donna Sue Blackburn of Virginia Beach, Va., Roy Blackburn and Walter Blackburn, both of Fort Smith, and Steven Blackburn of Conway; and two great-grandchildren, Iris and Aaron Paige, both of Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Burley King officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Blackburn, Walter Blackburn, Steven Blackburn, Alan Brooke, Wayne Kimbley, and Martin Kimbley.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

John Waylon Pellham
John Waylon Pellham, eight-month-old son of Johnny C. Moore Jr. of Bigelow and Verda I. Pellham of Russellville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and grandson of the late John Thomas.
Other survivors include grandparents, Jeanette Pellham of Hagarville, Johnny Carroll Moore Sr. and Dorothy Merlene Moore of Bigelow; one uncle and three aunts, Edwin and Yolanda Skaggs of Clarksville and Corina and Mirand Moore of Bigelow.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russellville with Bishop John Paul Dilworth officiating.
Burial was in Coleman cemetery at Pelsor under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Leland Franklin, Russell Standridge, Michael Wagner, Reggie Saucier, Terry Howell, and John King.
