Marvin N. McClaine
Marvin Newton McClaine, 97, of Lamar died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late William and Isabelle Patterson McClaine, a farmer, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Alta McCarley, Anna Wood, and Nancy Mason; and three brothers, John, Garland and Hershell McClaine.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Vera McClaine of Lamar; and several nieces and nephews including George and Kenneth McClaine of Lamar, Carl McClaine of Clarksville; Carolyn Hendrix of Page, Ariz., and Shirley McClaine of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Billy Usery officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Larry Yarbrough, George Clark, Gene Harmon, Mitchell Crutchfield, Ronnie Potter, and Leon Bachus.
Honorary pallbearers were Nathan McClaine, Ray Clark, Eldon Clark, and Clinton Robbins.
Ralph S. Plugge
Ralph S. Plugge, 80, of Calumet City, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000.
A former resident of Hartman, he was a son of the late John and Marie Eveld Plugge, a World War II Army staff sergeant with the 69th infantry division, a Purple Heart recipient and received two Bronze Stars, a retired employee of U. S. Steel, member of L.O.O.M. No. 828, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Wilfred Plugge.
Survivors include his widow, Josephine Nee Murawska Plugge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Nancy Plugge and Wayne and Lynda Plugge; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Michael McAdaragh; two brothers, Roman Carlos Plugge and Richard Plugge; two sisters, Delores Wiederkehr and Estella Mae Hilton; eight grandchildren, Scott, Kristen, Brian, Gennia, Eric and Todd Plugge and Patrick and Jill McAdaragh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Monday, Dec. 11.
William Joe Baughman
William Joe Baughman, 91, of London died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Moreland, he was a son of the late Henry and Mattie Crites Baughman, cattle and row crop farmer, former employee of Sugar Creek Creamery and F. C. Peters and Sons, and a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his widow, Blanch Holyfield Baughman; two daughters, Ollie Ruble and Mary Jo Parker, both of London; four grandchildren, Verna Crowden, James Ruble, and Mary Sue Riddell, all of London, and Rheba Crotts of Lamar; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. David Owens, Rev. Claude Jackson and Rev. Arlin Elmore officiating. Burial will be in the Brock cemetery at Piney.
Active pallbearers will be Cletus Knight, Virgil Knight, Harold Curtis, Dr. Mikel Brown, Paul Ray Parker, and Claud Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arval Lee Parker, Edward Evans, Bill Stone, Flave Peters, and Bill Peters.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Berta Willis
Berta Willis, 98, of Haskell, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000.
She was a native of Wayton, daughter of the late Allen and Nellie James Henderson, former resident of the Clarksville area, and was preceded in death by one brother, Ertl Henderson; and one sister, Orpha Hodges.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Shockley of Haskell, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at the Minnow Creek cemetery under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.
Carol Ann Phillips
Carol Ann Phillips, 49, of Hartman died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at her home.
She was a native of Los Angeles, Calif., daughter of the late William Scott, attended Hartman, Clarksville and Oark schools, a student at OSU, member of NAWIC and ABATE, and was preceded in death by one son, Blake Deaver.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Phillips; two daughters, Courtney Deaver of Austin, Texas, and Casey Mallette of Biloxi, Miss.; mother, Delores Harlan of Lamar; one sister, Martha Argo of Lamar; four brothers, Howard Scott of Los Angeles, Calif., Bill Scott of Fort Worth, Texas, Pat Scott of Walters, Okla., and George Scott of Branard, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Kirsty and Paige Mallette.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Home. The body will be cremated.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Jessie J. Walton
Jessie J. Handley Walton, 77, of Missouri, sister of Carolyn Jane Handley of Knoxville and Kathryn Martin of Clarksville, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.
A native of Dewar, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Grover and Easter Nuckalls Handley, widow of Charles Walton, and affiliated with the Methodist Church.
She is survived by three children; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one other sister; one brother; and numerous cousins.
The body will be cremated and the cremains will be buried at Mineral Point, Mo.

Mamie L. Manning
Mamie L. Manning, 80, of Van Buren, sister of Daniel Elam of Knoxville, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She was a daughter of the late Will and Lennie Harlas Elam, widow of William Joseph Manning, retired employee of OK Foods in Fort Smith, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one son, Bill R. Manning; two sisters, Dora Mae Wurst and Linda Louise Whorton; and one brother, Ray Elam.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Sumner of Lincoln and Lillian Storment of Van Buren; one other brother, Richard Elam of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Knoxville cemetery.
Mildred Ruth Wilson
Mildred Ruth Wilson, 82, of Ozone died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Ozone.
She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Wilson; one daughter, Joyce Anderson of Washington; three sons, Eugene Lemon of Washington, Phillip Lemon of California, and Michael Wilson of Kentucky; one brother, Dick McCarley of Oregon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
