Linda A. Hill, 49, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Elgin and Margie Weaver Sanders.
Survivors include her husband, Max Hill; one daughter, Lisa Downs of Washington; three stepsons, Van Hill of Clarksville and Edie Hill and Stephen Hill, both of Texas; one sister, June Caldwell of Tennessee; and five grandchildren including Mike Travis of Clarksville.
A private service was held.
Roller-Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lois L. Karr
Lois L. Karr, 81, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, daughter of the late Harrison and Almeda Kizziar Davis, widow of Virgil Karr, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Ann Karr; and one son, Joel Don Karr.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye Young and Shirley Platt, both of Clarksville, and Kathleen Johnson of Pettigrew; two sisters, Erschell Sharp of Muskogee, Okla., and Dovie Ford of Haskell, Okla.; two brothers, Earl Davis of Braggs, Okla., and Joe Davis of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Paul Bates and Keith Avaritt officiating. Burial was in Oark cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dwight Kimbriel, Kevin Kimbriel, Carl Easley, Paul Tollison, Vernon Griffith, and James Griffith.
Neal C. Fowler
Neal C. Fowler, 37, of Hartman died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 2, 1963, at Ozark and was a 1981 graduate of Hartman High School.
Survivors include his widow, Sherry Wilson Fowler; one daughter, Michelle Fowler of the home; one son, Joseph Fowler of the home; parents, Bobby Joe and Fannie Fowler of Hartman; and one sister, Connie McGill of Fayetteville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sam Howell officiating. Burial was in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Matthew Cremer, Don Dougan, Bob Rofkahr, Tommy McCormick, Ben F. Hardgrave, and Jack Cecil.
Honorary pallbearers were James Allen Kyle, Bruce Kyle, Michael J. Fowler, and Michael D. Fowler.
Paul W. Thomas
Paul Winford (Shugie) Thomas, 72, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home.
He was a son of the late Doc Edgar and Junie Rowden Thomas, a Baptist, retired grocery butcher, and was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Larabee.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Elaine and Eddie Kendall of Lamar and Paula Jo and Johnny Denbow of Midlothian, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Edward and Kim Thomas of Clarksville; the mother of his children, Mary Thomas of Lamar; one sister, Louise Nagle of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Marvin Thomas of Dallas, Texas, and Clarence Thomas of New York; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with burial in Knoxville cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Denbow, Jay Webster, Donny Anderson, David Price, Kyle Denbow, and Doyle Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton Hill, Gene English, Jesse Sheldon, and Gary O'Brien.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Ruel Ray Cox
Ruel Ray Cox, 94, of Lamar died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He was a native of Searcy County, son of the late Jim and Mattie Harris Cox, former resident of London, member of the Freewill Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Bewley Cox; one daughter, Wilma Anderson; two granddaughters, Joann Martin and Melonie Landry; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; one great-great-grandson; nine sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by two sons, Jim Cox of Patterson, La., and Bennie Cox of Benton Harbor, Mich.; two daughters, Mildred Dildy of Dover and Bonnie Coleman of Mulberry; 22 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at the East Point Baptist Church with Rev. Hubert Staggs and Rev. Don Mulford officiating.
Burial was in East Point cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers were grandsons while all grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.
Patricia Ann Maute
Patricia Ann Skidgel Maute, 67, of Mojave, Calif., died Oct. 18, 2000, at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Calif.
A native of the Goose Camp Community, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Ollie Kilcrease Skidgel and was preceded in death by one sister, Pairlee Morris; and two brothers, Gene and Paul Skidgel.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Maute; one daughter, Pam Lillard of Techappi, Calif.; one son, Kenny Maute of Scottsburg, Ind.; two stepsons, Sam Maute of Mojave, Calif., and Tony Maute of Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Jo Morgan of Altus; four brothers, Tom Skidgel Jr. of Clarksville, and Bob, John and Charles Skidgel, all of Hartman; four grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the West Mt. Zion cemetery north of Hartman.
Grace Ritchie
Grace Ritchie, 73, of Hartman died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of the Moonhull Full Gospel Church of Fallsville, minister, daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Rodford McGuire, and was preceeded in death by one daughter, Wttie Jean Jones; three sisters, Martha Ritchie, Lillie Boen and Emmer Poteet; and three brothers, Will McGuire, Johnny B. McGuire and Deamous McGuire.
Survivors include her husband, Theodore Ritchie; one daughter, Lorraine Ritchie of Hartman; two sons, Donald Lee Ritchie of Bakersfield, Calif., and Larry Kennith Ritchie of Paso Robles, Calif.; two brothers, James McGuire of Knoxville and Ernest McGuire of Coal Hill; ten grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Audrey Poteet and Rev. Lawrence Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn Jones, Robert Ritchie, Lloyd McClellan, Carl Edwards, Steve Arbaugh and Doyle Arbaugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kieth Allen Youonavich and Kristofer Edwards.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct., 25, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Mary Jo Rogers
Mary Josephine Clark Rogers, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at her home in Clarksville.
A native of the Spadra Community, she was a daughter of the late H. Garland and Ernest A. O'Neal Clark, attended high school at the Academy of the Ozarks and received a bachelor of arts degree from The College of the Ozarks in 1933. She resided in Texas from 1940 until 1983 and was a second grade teacher in Orange, Texas, for 20 years until retirement.
Survivors include her husban, L. W. Rogers; three sons, Lawrence, James and Joe; eight grandchildren, Steven, Laura, David, Rebecca, Lynn, Cristina, Elena and Haley; and four great-grandchildren, Ned, Josh, Amanda and Katherine.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
