Hoyle L. Stapleton
Hoyle L. Stapleton, 78, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at his home.
A native of Bear Wallow, he was a son of the late Hugh Abner and Myrtle Elizabeth Smith Stapleton, Navy veteran of World War II, member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, the AARP, Senior Citizens, and Peace Officers Association, and a San Pablo, Calif., retired policeman.
He is survived by one son, Jack Stapleton of Clarksville; one stepdaughter, Tammy Stapleton; two brothers, Bill Stapleton of New Blaine and Jimmy Stapleton of Arizona; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
The body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Lottie M. Bean
Lottie M. Baskin Bean, 81, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
She was a member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church, widow of Heartsill Bean, daughter of the late James and Lizzie Basham Baskin, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Pat Bean.
She is survived by one daughter, Faye Lewis of Clarksville; one son, Bob Bean of Clarksville; one sister, Theda Cobb of Garland, Texas; three brothers, James L. Baskin of Kansas City, Mo., and Paul D. Baskin and Robert Eugene Baskin, both of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Steve Askins and Rev. Jim Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Pratt, Steve Bean, Jeff Maynard, Gary Dickerson, Sean Pratt, and Billy Smardo.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Robert Berl Eaton
Robert Berl Eaton, 59, of Lamar died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at St. Bernards Regional Hospital.
He was a retired resales employee, son of the late J. T. and Flora Bell Taylor Eaton, and was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Watson.
He is survived by three brothers, Johnny Matthews of Harrisburg, Ricky Matthews of Gramercy, La., and Billy Matthews of Knoxville, Tenn.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Holman cemetery with Rev. Edna Burnett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Steven H. Noble
Steven H. Noble, 44, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of San Diego, Calif., he was an employee of Conagra Foods in Russellville and a member of the Delaware First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Karen Courtney Noble; three daughters, Jennifer Noble, Stephanie Noble, and Laura Noble, all of the home; one son, Christopher Noble of the home; father, Deward Noble of Delaware; mother, Jewell Hill of Delaware; grandfather, Roger Wurst of Delaware; grandmother, Flora Drew of Buhl, Idaho; one sister, Rhonda Hall of Russellville; and two brothers, Deward Noble III of Buhl, Idaho, and Carl Ray Noble of Coal Hill.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Delaware with Rev. Wylie Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Garrison cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Wanda Sue Young
Wanda Sue Young, 47, of Clarksville died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Ray James Young; three daughters, Pamela Auterson of Memphis, Tenn., and Melissa Young and Kimberly Young of the home; parents, James and Laura McGuire of Knoxville; two sisters, Patsy Ralls of Clarksville and Shirley White of Knoxville; six brothers, L. J. McGuire of Wilson, Frank McGuire of Joiner, Don McGuire of Atlanta, Ga., Billy McGuire of Knoxville, and Jimmy McGuire and Kenneth McGuire, both of Clarksville; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers will be Loy Park, Barry Park, Raymond Young, Pete Fain, Bob McGuire, and Jesse Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Robinson and Wayne Vaught.
Elmer E. Strackbein
Elmer E. Strackbein, 68, of Hartman died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Fort Smith.
He was an employee of Cecil Hardware, Inc., veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Lutheran, son of the late William and Selma Andregg Strackbein, and was preceded in death by one son, David R. Strackbein.
Survivors include his widow, Patricia Sargent Strackbein; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl M. and Dean Feikema of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce J. and Kathy Strackbein of Annapolis, Md.; one sister, Opal Harper of Harper, Texas; two brothers, Gilbert Strackbein of Little Rock and Eugene Strackbein of Hartman; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body will be cremated.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dean Feikema at 405 Oak Street in Clarksville following the memorial service.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Gisela M. Turner
Mrs. Gisela M. Turner, 66, of Lamar died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at her home.
She was a native of Berlin, Germany, and the widow of Milton Turner.
She is survived by three stepchildren; and one grandchild, Ricky Lee Hawkins of Lamar.
The body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Huell Edwin Yandell
Huell Edwin Yandell, 82, of Fayetteville, formerly of Coal Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at his home.
A native of Blue, Okla., he was a son of the late Andrew Lee and Zora Yates Yandell, Navy SeaBees veteran of World War II, retired chief operator with Exxon, member of Hays Chapel Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Yandell Knoblauch.
Survivors include his widow, Wanda Edwards Yandell; one son, Brian Yandell of Fayetteville; two sisters, Vera Moore of Sand Springs, Okla., and Orvetta Carle of Cotter; one brother, Jack Yandell of Highlands, Texas; four grandchildren, Jay Yandell of Fayetteville, Kay Yandell of Ithaca, N. Y., Dennie Knoblauch of New Orleans, La., and Cathy Knoblauch of Albany, La.; and one great-grandchild, Tucker Yandell of Fayetteville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dolan Phillips, Jeep Yates, Dean Phillips, Ross McCarley, Bentley Yates, and J. D. Yates.
