Billy Gene Looper

Billy Gene Looper, 71, of Jacksonville, brother of Walt Looper of Clarksville, died Friday, July 14, 2000.
He was a retired United States Air Force master sergeant having served 20 years after which he was traffic management officer at the Little Rock Air Force Base. He was a past chapter president of the Defense Transportation Association and a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joan Mercier Looper; one son, Joseph Looper of Jacksonville; two daughters, Cheryl Cataldo of Jacksonville and Evelyn Looper of Little Rock; one other brother, Jack Looper of Cordova, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at the National cemetery in Little Rock under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the organization of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Cynthia Alexander

Mrs. Cynthia Renee Alexander, 30, of Knoxville died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in Russellville.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clarksville where she was worship leader and nursery Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Alexander; two daughters, Hannah Rose Alexander and Abigail Marie Alexander, both of the home; one son, Seth Acel Alexander of the home; parents, Ronald Green of Grand Junction, Colo., and Betty Sarah Green of Grand Junction, Colo.; five sisters, Rhonda Green, Bethann Hunter, Lori Cole, and Debbie Cole, all of Grand Junction, Colo., and Tiffany Green of California; one brother, Bill Green of Grand Junction, Colo.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Acel C. and Rachel Alexander of Knoxville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Glenn Newton officiating. Burial was in Knoxville cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dane Mayes Jr., Harley Parker, Jack Heil, Ewell Magby, James Yantis, and Charlie Goodin.

Charley H. Warren

Charley Henry Warren, 87, of Lamar died Thursday, July 13, 2000.
He was a son of the late Wesley and Mary Lula Graves Warren, member of the Worldwide Church of God, farmer, mill worker, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Floy Curtis Warren; three sisters, Merle Barnett, Mildred Parks and Margie Allwine; and two brothers, Lester Warren and Earnest Warren.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Fry and Charlene Papasan, both of Lamar, and Nina Johnson of Clarksville; one son, Jerrel Warren of Lamar; one sister, Irene Scott of Rosetta; three brothers, Lewis Warren of Lamar, Leon Warren of Clarksville, and Manford Warren of Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Carmen Floyd, Clinton Papasan, Clifton Papasan, Darby Johnson, Holly Warren, and Tiffany Warren; and five great-grandchildren, Allen Papasan, Jessica Floyd, Keshia Papasan, Lauren Papasan, and Blayne Johnson.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Rosetta cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Hickey, Darby Johnson, Wayne Hickey, Clinton Papasan, Clifton Papasan, and Leon Warren.

Mrs. Elva L. Davis

Mrs. Elva Laura Rains Davis, 99, of Dover died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Russellville.
She was a Methodist, lifetime member of the Lamar Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, widow of Oscar Davis, daughter of the late William J. and Harriet Kissinger Rains, and was preceded in death by one son, Haskell Davis; two sisters, Ivy Roam and Sylvia York; and three brothers, Claude Rains, Snowden Rains, and Paris Rains.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Irene Elliott of Dover, Tessie Cromer of Fort Collins, Colo., and Joyce and John J. McGuire of Rockledge, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Dover United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Mrs. Helen Volk

Mrs. Helen Stephanie Volk, 88 of Clarksville died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at her home.
She was a native of Dodgeville, Mich., and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Walter (Frances Veronica Gregorich) Chopp Sr.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Roy Horne of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Kenneth A. Duncan

Funeral for Kenneth A. Duncan, 66, of Sherwood, who died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers were Lawrence Robinson, Raymond Young, Bob McGuire, Junior Ashlock, Clinton Holland, and Jason Young.
Honorary pallbearers were Everett Willis and Henry Holt.
He was a son of the late Delbert and Lucille Long Duncan, a Baptist, and retired truck driver.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mable Young Duncan; one daughter, Belinda Polk of Maumelle; one son, Kenny Duncan of Little Rock; and two brothers, Dean Duncan of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Frank Duncan of Mexia, Texas.

Mrs. Margie Burlingame

Mrs. Margie Burlingame, 78, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Montello, Wis., daughter of the late Glenn and May Vaughn Burlingame, and member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
She is survived by one brother, Roy Burlingame of Hales Corners, Wis.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Robert L. Meimerstorf

Robert Lewis Meimerstorf, 72, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home.
A native of Augsburg, he was a son of the late Henry and Margaret Clemmons Meimerstorf, member of the Church of Christ, Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired heavy equipment operator and coal miner.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Johnnie Brazil Meimerstorf; one stepson, J. L. Richardson of Clarksville; three sisters, Kathryn Nordin of London, Bernice Higby of Lamar, and Rosie Smith of Tulip; two brothers, Harold Meimerstorf of Massachusetts and John E. Meimerstorf of London; and two grandchildren, Jaden Richardson and Morgan Richardson, both of Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Mount Vernon cemetery with Stanley Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Thomas J. Knuckles

Thomas Jefferson Knuckles, 67, of Lamar died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Rose Care Nursing Home in Little Rock.
A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late James Edward and Cora Skaggs Knuckles, a Baptist, eight-year Army Air Force veteran having served in Turkey and Greenland, and a former U. S. Postal Service employee in Little Rock and Texas.
He is survived by three sisters, Jewell Kemp of Little Rock, Pearl Ross of Pasadena, Texas, and Lois Engeldinger of Milipitar, Calif.; one brother, Marvin Henry Knuckles of Lamar; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at the Lamar cemetery with Rev. George Farquhar officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
