Norma Rhea Nowlin
Norma Rhea Nowlin, 74, of London died Monday, March 12, 2001, at London.
She was a livestock ranch owner, various produce grower, affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, daughter of the late William Mark and Lou Ella Whorton Vinson, and widow of William Thomas Nowlin.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Betty Rogers of Stockton, Calif., and Shirley Haney of Suisun, Calif.; two sisters, Oma Lee Whorton of London and Vera Lou Roybal of Billings, Mont.; one half-brother, Johnny Vinson of London; one step granddaughter, Debra Bess of Calhoun, Ga.; one aunt, Agnus White of London; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the First Assembly of God Church in London with Rev. Jerry Schlinker officiating.
Burial was in East Point cemetery at London under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Randy Hefley, Curtis Shilkels, Mike Ward, Randy Titsworth, Tom Willis, and Gub Cochran.
Honorary pallbearers were Rex Whorton, Ronnie Whorton, Leonard Whorton, Bob Mueller, Bill Mueller, and Jess Roybal.
Robert Lee Hogue
Robert Lee Hogue, 67, of Hartman died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his home.
He was a native of Alba, Texas, son of the late James Lewis and Annie Clementine Mosley Hogue, and was preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include his widow, Mae Posey Hogue; five daughters, Deborah Dalton of Hartman, Phyllis Dalton, Robin Stepp, and Bobbie Marlow, all of Clarksville, and Barbara Hampton of Ozone; four sons, James Hogue and Larry Hogue, both of Hartman, Raymond Hogue of Lamar, and Johnny Hogue of Clarksville; one sister, Opal Jones of Lonoke, Texas; one brother, Rommie Hogue of Lonoke, Texas; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Burial was in Spadra cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Raymond Hogue, Larry Hogue, James Hogue, Johnny Hogue, Dewey Marlow, David Hampton, and Jimbo Stepp.
Honorary pallbearers were Jake Hill, Leon Hill, Bruce Foster, Bob Weathers, Steve MacLeod, Dub Vaught, and Paul Wyers.
Sammy L. Buggar
Sammy L. Buggar, 56, of Clarksville died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Dyess and a Baptist.
Survivors include his widow, Ine Buggar; mother, Mary Allen of Blue Mountain; and one brother, Lonnie Carter of Booneville.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Ellington cemetery at Magazine with Rev. David Zeiler officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Thalia Masters Collins
Thalia Masters Collins, 52, of Scranton, sister of J. D. Masters of Clarksville, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Mena, daughter of the late John Dewey and Ada Marie Marple Masters, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sallie Dawn Masters.
Other survivors are one daughter, Teresa Hickey of Houma, La.; and one son, J. W. Collins of Scranton.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Carter cemetery at Jamestown with Rev. Rick Reeves officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Vera R. Williams
Vera Rebecca Hudson Hart Williams, 90, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a Methodist, daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Kirwin Hudson, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Mona Kay Hart; three sisters, Norma Harvey, Bernice Self, and Eva McMillian; and two brothers, Elmer Hudson and Ernest Hudson.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Woodland cemetery with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Andy Sexton
Andy Sexton, 34, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.
A native of Ozark, he was a 1985 graduate of Clarksville High School and a carpenter.
Survivors include his widow, Sheila Terry Sexton; four sons, Dustin Sexton, Jacob Sexton, and Zachary Sexton, all of Coal Hill, and Skylar Sexton of Lamar; one stepdaughter, Samantha Terry of Lamar; mother and stepfather, Anita and J. C. Campbell of Clarksville; father and stepmother, Hartsell and Diana Sexton of Denning; and two brothers, Jamie Sexton and Tim Sexton, both of Clarksville.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Shady Grove cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home. The body was cremated.
Almedia West
Almedia (Mickie) West, 80, formerly of Hagarville, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Dallas, Texas.
She was a native of Joplin, Mo., daughter of the late Grace Morrow and Justice and Ressie Morrow; widow of Basil Carlton West, member of the Church of Christ and the Over Fifty Five Club with St. Pius X Church, a volunteer with the Brady Center in Dallas, Texas, and was preceded in death by three sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Mary Francis West of Dallas, Texas, and Dennis and Darlene West of Lamar; one sister, Grace Williams of Sacramento, Calif.; one brother, Charles Robertson of Idaho; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in Garland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Hagarville cemetery. The body was cremated. Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Bernice L. Blevins
Bernice L. Blevins, 87, of Ozark died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
A native of the Harmony Community in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Sara Adams Edwards, widow of Charlie Blevins, and a member of Webb City Baptist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Jan Akins officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Fred Sutterfield
Fred Sutterfield, 86, of Russellville, father of LaVonna Hudson of Knoxville, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at the Paris Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a native of Harriett, son of the late Wayne Arthur and Mary California Stephenson Sutterfield, United States Army veteran of World War II, member of the Free Will Baptist Church, retired employee of Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., and a nine-year employee of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He was preceded in death by 15 brothers and sisters.
Other survivors include his widow, Annie L. Sutterfield; one son, Freddie Sutterfield of Gate Harbor, Wash.; four grandchildren, Nicole Sutterfield of New York, N. Y., Denise Sutterfield of Tacoma, Wash., John Hudson of Morrilton, and Todd Hudson of Branson, Mo.; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 3 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Rest Haven Memorial Park with Rev. Freddie Goates officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
