Hazel Marvel
Hazel Marvel, 77, of Alexander, mother of Alberta Thomas of Clarksville, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at the Saline Nursing Center.
A native of Jasper, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Judie Thompson Poyner, widow of Albert Marvel Jr., retired nurse's aide, member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Richard; two brothers, Wilburn and Sylvester Poyner; two sisters, Dorothy Roland and Ava Anglin; and two grandchildren, Kenny Ferrell and Deanna Marvel.
She is survived by five sons, Wayne Marvel of Benton, Danny Marvel of Bryant, Dean and Bruce Marvel, both of Conway, and Michael Marvel of Columbia, Mo.; two other daughters, Carolyn Ferrell of Benton and Wanda Marvel of Columbia, Mo.; two brothers, Carl and Calvin Poyner of Hartman; two sisters, Laura Steele of Clarksville and Reba Harris of Hartman; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Jimmy McDougal and Johnny Ferrell officiating. Burial was at Social Hill cemetery in Benton.
Pallbearers were Wesley Ferrell, Johnny Ferrell, Randy Marvel, Gary Marvel, Scott Marvel and Darren Marvel.
Junior L. Moore
Junior L. Moore, 73, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Clarksville.
He was a son of the late Robert and Zora Arbaugh Moore, retired pipeline employee and farmer, a Baptist, and was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Moore; and one brother, Argil Moore.
Survivors include his widow, Margie Rae Moore; two daughters, Loretta Kay Wilson of Clarksville and Connie Sue Moore of Marshall; one son, Alan Moore of Alma; two sisters, Beulah Dail of Harrisburg and Ava Davis of Booneville; two brothers, Hurlon Moore of Clarksville and Harvin Moore of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Oark cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Moore, Travis Wilson, Shane Gray, Daniel Sanborn, Michael Moore, and Todd Wilson.
Columbus Jones
Columbus Jones, 86, of Lamar died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
He was a son of the late Elihu and Bethany McAlister Jones, retired El Paso Natural Gas Company employee, a member of the Strawberry Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by two sons, William Jones and James Robert Jones; two sisters, Sarah Townsend and Leona Pitts; and three brothers, Granville Jones, Elmer Jones, and Leonard Jones.
Survivors include his widow, Ruby Qualls Jones; one daughter, Gwendall Owens of Lamar; one son, Columbus Wayne Jones of Farmington, N. M.; five sisters, Beulah Tumbleson and Nanalou Hodges, both of Dexter, Mo., Eula Owen of Lamar, Iva Rushing of Clarksville, and Earlene Davis of Russellville; two brothers, Ira Jones and Elihu Jones, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Strawberry Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bill Richmond and Rev. George Willis officiating.
Burial was in the Minnow Creek cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dutch Houston, Bill Patterson, Bobby Cooper, Wendell Self, Cecil Jones, and Joe Carter.
Mabel D. Jones
Mabel D. Jones, 89, of Coal Hill died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Monte and Mary Kinkennon Dennis and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Harold Krachey of Coal Hill; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body was cremated.
Ray Talley
Ray Talley, 61, of Dardanelle, father of Brenda Talley of Dardanelle, died Monday, July 30, 2001, in St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle.
A. Porter Rawlings
Allison Porter Rawlings, 65, of Helena, father of Gay Lynn Clubb of Clarksville, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
He was a 37-year operator for Texas Eastern Fuel Terminal, son of the late James Hubert and Julia Edith Williams Rawlings, and a National Guard veteran.
Survivors include his widow, Bonnie Anderson Rawlings; two sons, David Nathan Rawlings and Jeremy Kevin Rawlings, both of Helena; two other daughters, Debby Trent and Alison Hawkins, both of Dover; one brother, Jim Rawlings of Helena; one sister, Janice Findley of Dry Branch, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Roller-Citizens Chapel in West Helena with Rev. Kenneth Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena.
Active pallbearers were Eddie Pyron, Kenny Hale, Elmer Leslie, Johnny Ragsdale, Steve Darnall and Terry Alimond.

Sister Anacletus
Sister Anacletus Schroeder, 83, of Fort Smith died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in Fort Smith.
She was a member of St. Scholastica Monastery and her profession date was June 24, 1936. She was a professional nurse for 52 years having worked in Clarksville, Dermott, Morrilton, Van Buren and Boonville, Mo.
Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Lindeman of Archer City, Texas, and Dorothy Berkholt of Robstown, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Schroeder and Lucille Schroeder, both of Windthorsp, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews including four nieces who are members of St. Scholastica Monastery.
Wake was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Betty J. Dennis
Betty J. Patten Dennis, 73, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a charter member of Woodland Baptist Church, where she served as song leader for 30 years and as church treasurer, member of the Woodland Quartet, daughter of the late Carl M. and Lillian Day Patten, widow of Kenneth H. Dennis, and was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Tommy E. (Hoot) Owens.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandy and John Haubert of Clarksville and Glenda Owens of Clarksville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Sam Dodson of Tulsa, Okla., and Carolyn and Harley Williams of Morrilton; three grandchildren, Brian Ross, Brandon Haubert, and Steven Owens, all of Clarksville; and two great-grandchildren, Meghan Gardner and Darian Ross.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Sawyer and Rev. Sam Howell officiating.
Burial was in Woodland cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Cloma J. Snodgrass
Cloma Jean Snodgrass, 66, of Springdale died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late John and Elzada Griffith Acord, long-time needle craft exhibitor, member of the extension homemakers club and Sonora Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher, and supporter of Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Snodgrass; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Victoria Ellis and Bob and Roberta Ellis, all of Reno, Nev.; one sister and brother-in-law, Johnnie and Olen Yarbrough of Clarksville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Benny and Maudie Acord of Oark and Bob and Shirley Acord of Farmington; and three grandchildren, Rolando Ellis, Amanda Jean Ellis, and Ashley Marie Ellis.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Danny Williams officiating. Burial was in Oark cemetery.
