Collin A. Pyron

Collin Andrew Pyron, 31, of Ozone died July 17, 2001, at Ozone.
He was a captain in the Army Reserves, sales manager for Kenner Manufacturing Company, and was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Morgan Qualls.
Survivors include his parents, David and Louan Pyron of Clarksville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Stephanie and Gregory Pitts of Indiana, Amber and Brett Lollar of Euless, Texas, and Amy and Eric Blackard of Hartman; two nephews, Garrett Gregory Pitts and Tyler Blackard; two nieces, Katherine Morgan Pitts and Emma Lollar; and grandparents, Eldon and Helen Colley of Clarksville.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lance Jones and Rev. Burnett King officiating. The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the University of the Ozarks, 415 North College Avenue, Clarksville, AR 72830.

David Wayne Pitts

David Wayne Pitts, 22, of Dover, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in a Little Rock hospital from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Survivors include his father, Wayne Pitts of Knoxville; mother, Karen Reynolds of Russellville; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Felicia and Mike Howard of Muldrow, Okla., Stephanie and Wade Lovem of Russellville, Tiffany and Jon Casey of Norfork, Adrienne and Boyd Arbaugh of Clarksville, and Stormy and John Lee of Russellville; maternal grandmother, Betty Corbin of Alhamba, Calif.; paternal grandparents, Harold and Betty Pitts of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith. The body was cremated.
Memorials may be made to the Pope County Boys Club, P. O. Box 1477, Russellville, AR 72811.

Emogene Pitts Pollard

Emogene (Zene) Pitts Pollard, 84, of Durham, N. C., died July 17, 2001.
She was a native of Clarksville, received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of the Ozarks, state tennis tournament women's doubles winner, former school teacher, retired employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, member of the First Baptist Church in Durham, N. C., and had been a resident of Durham, N. C., since 1945. She was preceded in death by one son, H. Alan Pollard.
Survivors include her husband, Harold A. Pollard; one daughter, Beth Baucom of Durham, N. C.; four grandchildren, Lisa Pollard, Brian Pollard, Jodi Mendoza, and Juli Baucom; one great-granddaughter, Hannah; and one daughter-in-law, Gerry Pollard of Durham, N. C.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel in Durham, N. C.
Memorials may be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 MLK Blvd., Suite 112, Durham, N. C. 27707.

James P. Taverner

James Paul Taverner, 68, of White Cliffs died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Fayetteville.
He was an Army veteran, Baptist, son of the late Floyd Taverner, and was preceded in death by one son, Tim Kendal Taverner; and one brother, Leon Taverner.
Survivors include his widow, Carla Taverner; one daughter, Tina Dawn Wright of Nashville; one son, Tony Darrell Taverner of Bentonville; mother, Hazel Baxter Taverner of Ozone; five sisters, Nadine Swann of Nashville, Louise Churchill of Grand Prairie, Texas, Irene Kauffeld of Clarksville, Beth Robinson of Ozone and Ruth Holcomb of Schofield, Wis.; two brothers, Richard Taverner of Greenbrier and Everette Taverner of Minden, La.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bob Herod officiating. Burial was in Ozone cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred Kauffeld, Carl Robinson, Richard Taverner, Everette Taverner, Fred Albert Kauffeld, and Gil Holcomb.

L. B. Perry

L. B. Perry, 77 of Boles, mother of Bobby Perry of Clarksville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001.
She was a Jehovah's Witness and widow of Emmett Perry.
She is survived by five other sons, Larry Perry of Boles, Eddie Perry of Little Rock, Jabo Perry of Sherwood, Thomas Perry of Alma, and Johnny Perry of Bryant; three sisters, Lilly Mae Speaks of Boles, Dorothy Speaks of Waldron, and Jean Miller of Cedarville; one brother, Charles (Sonny) Speaks of Boles; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Boles Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Chant cemetery in Y-City under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.

Lola Clark Partin

Lola Clark Partin, 77, of Tulsa, Okla., died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Tulsa, Okla.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late John and Arra Clark, widow of Ralph Willard Partin, and a member of Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church in Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Simpson; and two brothers, Lavon Clark and Morris Clark.
She is survived by five children, Larry, Edwin, Patricia, Tonya and Chris Partin of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Norma Jean Gentry of Clarksville and Ruth Henley of California; one brother, Leon Clark of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Nick, Summer and Erin; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Randy, and Brandon; two step grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Funeral was Monday, July 23, at Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow, Okla., with Pastor Rodney James officiating. Burial was in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Memorials may be made to Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church Missions in Tulsa, Okla.

Velma M. Roper

Velma M. Roper, 87, of Scranton died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Scranton.
She was a member of Johnson Freewill Baptist Church at Scranton, daughter of the late Clarence O. and Carrie Foster Moore, and widow of James (Budge) Roper.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry K. Roper and Ricky D. Roper, both of Clarksville, and Gary L. Roper of Mountainburg; two daughters, Doris Gray of Haverhill, Mass., and Lorene Boland of Scranton; three sisters, Margaret Kovacs of Lancaster, Calif., and Lee Staples and Mava Wilkins, both of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Kenneth Moore of Paris; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Johnson Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Williams, Rev. Jimmy Chronister, and Rev. Troy Vaughn officiating.
Burial will be in Wares Chapel cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Pallbearers will be Joey Piccirilli, Jamie Roper, Kevin Roper, Heath Roper, Ryan Roper, and Nathan Piccirilli.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Lyle E. Payne

Lyle E. Payne, 78, of Coal Hill died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Kansas, he was a son of the late Donald and Willa Allen Payne, World War II Army Air Corps veteran where he was a flight engineer, member of the Coal Hill VFW No. 8532, graduate of Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, Calif., and a building contractor.
Survivors include three daughters, Margie E. Hook of Placentia, Calif., Nancy E. Schirk of Devon, Pa., and Lori Pastor Garrett of Canyon Country, Calif.; one son, Marty Payne of Coal Hill; two sisters, Dolores Alguire and Donna Smith, both of California; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lance King officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Peter Schirk, Jeremy Payne, Tracy Garrett, Drew Pastor, Aaron Hook, and Michael Schirk.

James Cecil Farmer

James Cecil Farmer, 83, of Conway, father of Patrick Farmer of Clarksville, died July 14, 2001.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Ethel Adkins Farmer, attended the University of the Ozarks, and was a decorated veteran of World War II having been stationed in the Aleutian Islands and having seen combat in the European Theatre of War. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Conway, a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, and a retired farmer and rancher.
Other survivors include his widow, Ruth Boddie Farmer; one daughter and son-in-law, Heber and Stephen McKissack of Conway; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Marshal and Amy McKissack and Martin and Kelly McKissack of Conway; granddaughter, Marie McKissack of Conway; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey McKissack, Macy McKissack, and Jackson McKissack, all of Conway; one sister, Gladys Ruth Farmer of Little Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of Conway.
