Emma Gifford, 99, of Haysville, Kan., died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Westview Manor in Derby, Kan.
She was a native of Auburn, Kan., daughter of the late Walter R. and Carrie Hoppe Black, widow of Wilbur M. Gifford, and was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; one son-in-law, Voris (Doc) Lynch; and two brothers, Walter and Charles Black.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Carl and Verna Gifford of Haysville, Kan., and Delbert Gifford and Bob and Jan Gifford, all of Clarksville; one daughter, Irene Lynch of Mulvane, Kan., one other daughter-in-law, Barbara Gifford of Haysville, Kan.; one sister, Phebe Anderson of Auburn, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Smith Mortuary in Derby, Kan.

Hazel O. Taverner
Hazel Oleta Taverner, 95, of Ozone died Friday, March 19, 2004, at her home.
She was a member of the Ozone Baptist Church, Ozone Quilting Club and Ozone Grange, former mail carrier, widow of James Floyd Taverner, daughter of the late Cicero and Tugie Baskin Baxter, and was preceded in death by two sons, Leon and Paul Taverner, and one grandchild, Timothy Taverner.
Survivors include five daughters and four sons-in-law, Beth and Carl Robinson of Ozone, Nadine and Henry Swann of Nashville, Irene and Fred J. Kauffeld of Clarksville, Ruth and Gil Holcomb of Schofield, Wis., and Louise Churchill of Dallas, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Margaret Taverner of Greenbrier and Everette and Kay Taverner of Minden, La.; two sisters, Fern Taverner of Clarksville and Betty Hignite of Baytown, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Ozone Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Baxter, Rev. Matt Nowatney, and Rev. Bob Harrod officiating.
Burial was in Ozone cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Fred A. Kauffeld, Jeff Taverner, Tony Taverner, Billy Churchill, Bert Holcomb, Danny Taverner, Matt Taverner, Rick Taverner, Bobby Churchill, and James Holcomb.
Terry E. Breedlove
Terry Edward Breedlove, 41, of Clarksville died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Lola Hickey Morrow and Tom and Laura Martin Breedlove.
Survivors include his widow, Jamie Rose Richmond Breedlove; parents, Fred E. and Kathryn Morrow Breedlove of Coal Hill; one sister, Sherry Breedlove Duncan of Lamar; one nephew, Daniel Dunlap; and two nieces, Nikki Dunlap Sims and Brittany Duncan.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. John Kindrix and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Hess cemetery at Coal Hill.
Active pallbearers were Kermit Warren, Keith Duncan, Rick Richmond, Tom Davenport, Jim Richmond, and David Richmond.
Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Dunlap, Flora Bell Warren, and Rosalie Davenport.
William W. Cone
William Willard (Jim) Cone, 60, of Coal Hill died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at his home.
He was an employee of Bright Harvest, Army veteran, and son of the late William J. and Wanda Young Cone.
Survivors include his widow, Rebecca Sue Cone; three daughters, Lorene Cone and Louise Bryant, both of Texas, and Ava Sue Wiseman of Fort Smith; three sons, William Cone and T. J. Cone, both of Texas, and Eddie Wayne Hays of Arkansas; two brothers, Landy Cone of Colorado and Dean Cone of Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and one uncle, A. E. Young of Missouri.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. John Chastain and Rev. Mark Rainwater officiating. Burial was in Carter cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Lindsey, Brian Fetters, Doug Tate, Everett McAlister, Johnny Flinn, and Tommy Fraser.
Patrick Hogan, O.S.B.
Brother Patrick Hogan, O.S.B., 85, monk of Subiaco Abbey, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, in the Abbey Health Center where he had resided the past seven years. He was born in Lebanon, Mo., to Philip and Elizabeth Kuhn Hogan and was named Michael Arthur.
He received his education in the public schools of Lebanon, served in the U. S. Army from 1942-45, and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
He professed his vows as a monk of Subiaco Abbey on March 19, 1950, and for five decades served Subiaco Abbey as refectorian, groundskeeper, house custodian, laundry worker, and for a time assisted in the care of the monks.
A Christian Wake service was held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 22. The Liturgy of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, in St. Benedict Church at Subiaco. Interment was in the Abbey cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Jimmy Dale Upton
Jimmy Dale Upton, 64, of Clarksville died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Stuttgart.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late James Paul and Shirley Hinson Upton, and owner of Upton Monument Company for 28 years.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Greg Buckner of Paris, Shannon and Jeff Jones of Stuttgart, and Sheila and Tim Oakes of Collierville, Tenn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Major James Bruce and Tammy Upton of Fort Polk, La.; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sharon Upton of Clarksville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Stillwell cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Buckner, Jeff Jones, Tim Oakes, Jett Jones, Avery Buckner, and Justin White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith King, Louie Don Leeds and Gene Leeds.

Maria Rosa Juanes
Maria Rosa Juanes, 58, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of La Luz Rio Grande Zac, Mexico, she was a daughter of the late Rosalio and Maria Reyes Ramirez Ceballos, and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Narciso Juanes; three daughters, Ma. Rosario Juanes of Mexico, and Francisca Juanes and Cecilia Juanes, both of Clarksville; three sons, Jose L. Juanes and Narciso Juanes, both of Clarksville, and Isaias Juanes of Mexico; one sister, Hermelinda Delgado of Clarksville; four brothers, Luis Ceballas and Ismael Ceballos, both of Mexico, and Abel Ceballos and Domingo Ceballos, both of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating.
Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Eduardo Delgado, Abel Ceballos, Ismael Ceballos, Luis Ceballos, Domingo Ceballos and Isaias Juanes.
Robert H. Evans
Robert H. Evans, 74, of Clarksville died Monday, March 15, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of North Carolina, son of the late Randall and Bessie Evans, member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his widow, Lillian Russell Evans; two sisters, Blois Troupe of North Carolina and Marie Evans of Georgia; two brothers, Ralph Evans and John Evans, both of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Rosa B. Van Loh
Rosa Belle Van Loh, 91, of Sacramento, Calif., mother of Luther Franklin Mays of Oark, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004.
She was a native of Louisiana, former resident of Catalpa, daughter of the late Abner and Etta Eggers, widow of James Thomas Mays, former assistant postmaster at Oark, postmaster at Catalpa for two years, and in 1946 married
Robert Hubbard. She was preceded in death by three sons, James Thomas Mays Jr., Rodney Dale Mays, and Willard Wayne Hubbard; one son-in-law, J. L. Melson; and eight siblings.
Among the survivors are one daughter, Oleander Mays Melson of Sacramento, Calif.; one other son and daughter-in-law, John Robert and Carol Hubbard of Rio Linda, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
