Barbara L. Armstrong

Barbara Layne Armstrong, 59, of Russellville, whose son and daughter-in-law, Carey Scott and Samantha Armstrong, reside in Clarksville, died Feb. 29, 2004, in Russellville.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former realtor.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene A. Armstrong; one daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Alan DeWitt of Fort Smith; one other son, Christopher M. Armstrong of Atkins; parents, Floyd R. and Margaret L. Hendricks of Fort Smith; one sister, Judy Allen of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Emily and Jessica of Fort Smith.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Roebuck Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Josh Moore, Ryan Ness, Shouston Wood, Chris Stout and John Vining.

Boyd M. Davis

Boyd M. Davis, 74, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, in Conway.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Almut Reed and Lula Wood Davis, retired lineman, member of Belle Grove Masonic Lodge No. 410 at Ludwig, and was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Curtis Davis.
He is survived by three daughters, Alice Kelly of St. Louis, Mo., Melba Rodgers of Conway, and Gladys Sinks of Mountain Home; one son, Marvin Davis of Taos, N. M.; two half-sisters, Wilma Holt of Springdale and Lula Mae Pottinger of Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Holt officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Rodgers, Mike Patterson, Lee Patterson, Kenneth Davis, James Davis, and Johnny Smith.

Don Sims Jr.

Don Sims Jr., 52, of Fayetteville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Joyce White) Sims Sr. of Lamar, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Springdale.
He was a member of Victory Family Worship, missionary for 27 years serving in 52 countries, veteran of the U. S. Army, and was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Sims.
Other survivors include his widow, Nora Knick Sims; two sons, Jon Sims of Barstow, Calif., and Samuel J. Sims of Elkins; two daughters, Renee Weingartner of Wichita, Kan., and Sarah Watts of Centerton; grandmother, Hazel White of Hutchinson, Kan.; two sisters, Denice Key and Dianne Kimbrough, both of Clarksville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Victory Family Worship in Springdale with Rev. Billy Coffman officiating. Interment followed at 4 p.m. at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 209 Lapis Lane, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Dew Yates

Dew Yates, 82, of Oark died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Alda Stepp Mullins, a Baptist, and was preceded in death by one son, Bryan Yates.
Survivors include her husband, Herla Yates; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Yates of Oark; father, Clero Mullins of Clarksville; one sister, Wilma Tate of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Loren Mullins of Clarksville, Herla Mullins of Ozone, and Darious Mullins of Winslow; and two grandchildren, Mark Yates of Pine Bluff and Matt Yates of Russellville.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Yale cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

James Jeffery Duncan

James Jeffery (Jeff) Duncan, 38, son of Sue Killough Duncan of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Lamar, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at his home in Wichita, Kan.
He was chief financial officer with Dean and Deluca and was preceded in death by his father, James G. Duncan.
Other survivors include his widow, Erin Duncan; two daughters, Morgan Renee and Hannah Marie, both of the home; three sons, Michael James, Joseph Guy, and David Jeffery, all of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Hamilton of Lolo, Mont., and Scott and Leslie Duncan of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Frank Osborn of Wichita, Kan., and Amy and Omar Mendez of Wichita, Kan.; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts, including Lura Harmon and Bobbie Sherrill, both of Lamar.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan., under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or Wichita State University Foundation.

Jessie P. Gipson

Jessie Pitts Gipson, 92, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Iva Elizabeth Peeples Haigwood, widow of Bud Pitts and Noah Gipson, member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 50-year member of Lamar Chapter No. 516 Order of the Eastern Star, retired from Clarksville Hospital where she was employed as a nurse for many years, and was preceded in death by one brother, George Haigwood, and one sister, Mabel Baskin.
Survivors include one sister, Hazel Rowton of Statesboro, Ga.; two nieces, Elizabeth Sheffer of Fort Smith and Karen Haigwood of Russellville; two nephews, James Alfred Rowton of Statesboro, Ga., and George Haigwood Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; and special friends, Frances Webb and Larry Jones, both of Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. Al Rowton officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Eric Sheffer, Larry Jones, Mark Lawrence, Robert E. Qualls, Robert Bartlett and George Haigwood Jr.

Monte C. Brown

Monte Claud Brown, 69, of Covina, Calif., nephew of John W. Williamson of Clarksville, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in Covina, Calif.
He was a native of Ozark, son of the late Wallace Claude and Iva Jane Williamson Brown, businessman in the Glendora, Calif., area for 50 years, a deacon and 43-year member of Covina Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joyce Brown; one daughter, Tami Gedigian; one son, Kevin; three brothers, James Smith and Ray Brown, both of Covina, Calif., and Billy Brown of Landers, Calif.; three sisters, Ann Smart of Glendora, Calif., and Jane and Judy Smart, both of Enid, Okla.; and five grandchildren, Ashley, Dakota, Whitney, Alexis and McKenzie.
Funeral was at Covina Assembly of God Church with burial at Oakdale cemetery in Glendora, Calif.

Oneil Morrison

Oneil Morrison, 89, of Rock Springs, Wyo., died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at her home.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late H. B. and Jennie Yandell McMillan, 1932 graduate of Clarksville High School, widow of Thomas R. Morrison, member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by one sister, Berniece Patterson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Carl Pearson of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Gayle and Darrell Benz of Deltona, Fla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Yandell and Isabel McMillan of Orlando, Fla., and Tom and Neva Yandell of Searcy; three grandchildren and spouses, Shelley and Dennis Jereb, Kristi and Paul Briggs, and Todd and Stacey Pearson; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Reanna Jereb and Megan and Kayla Briggs.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Fox Funeral Home in Rock Springs with Rev. Ed Mendenhall officiating. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Sweetwater County or Respite Care, 809 Thompson, Rock Springs, WY 82901.

Robert Loaskie

Robert (Bob) Loaskie, 58, of Altus died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Altus.
He was a retired self-employed used auto dealer.
Survivors include his widow, Carolyn Loaskie; two daughters, Becky Zimmerman of Belleville and Jennifer Mendenhall of Van Buren; one sister, Ann Craig of Cedarville; two brothers, Jimmy Kleinschmidt of Fort Smith and Jerry Kleinschmidt of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with cremation following the service.

Buel D. McFadden

Buel Dean (Mac) McFadden, 71, of Hartman died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at his home.
He was a son of the late William Allen and Maude Estelle Pixley McFadden, attended the Free Jesus Name Church where he served as a trustee, U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, production manager for Van De Camp in Los Angeles, Calif., for several years, Kim's Products for 18 years and at Stillwell Foods for five years, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Alvesta Smith and Treva Jane Mattingly; and one brother, Oscar William McFadden.
Survivors include his widow, Betty Jo Baxter McFadden; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Darlene and Dave Newman of California, Debbie and Bobby Grigsby of Hartman, Joann and Alan Mize of Clarksville, and Sharon Patterson of California; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Dean and Mila McFadden and Mr. and Mrs. Bill McFadden, all of California, Jerry and Lois Bohannon of Hunt, Ronnie and Tammy Bohannon of Coal Hill, and Lonnie Bohannon of Hunt; one sister, Virginia Grayson of Van Buren; one brother, Rev. Acie McFadden of Rudy; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Free Jesus Name Church in Coal Hill with Rev. David Zeiler officiating.
Burial was in Cassville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Jeremy Patterson, Bryan Newman, Donnie Grigsby, Chris Newman, Bryan Domerese, and Donnie Buckhanan.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and Jerry Bohannon, Ronnie Bohannon, Lonnie Bohannon, Alan Mize, Bobby Grigsby, and Junior Ashlock.
