Mary K. Kendall

Mary Kathryn Kendall, 49, sister of John Kendall of Hartman, died Jan. 23, 2004, in Citrus Heights, Calif.
She was a native of Little Rock, former resident of Clarksville, and daughter of the late Gerald Kendall.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Kendall; other siblings, Vickie Kendall, Barbie Havener, Jeri Borders, and Kelley Parker; grandmother, Margaret Walker; six nieces and nephews; companion, Jim Sinetos, and his children, Gregory and Jennifer.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 1329 Howe Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825.

Margie F. Scribner

Margie Faye Scribner, 69, of Knoxville died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Garland Aswell and Vera Mae Goleman Gough, member of Russellville Christian Center and was preceded in death by one son, Garland Lewis Scribner.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Scribner; one daughter, Lavaye Carine of Fort Bragg, Calif.; one son, James E. Scribner of Lucerne, Calif.; one sister, Sharon Franco of Fort Bragg, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Tom Underhill officiating. Burial will be in Knoxville cemetery.

Ronald M. Hilton Jr.

Ronald (Ronnie) M. Hilton Jr., 33, of Monroe, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at his home.
He was a former resident of Johnson County, son of the late Ronald M. Hilton Sr., graduate of Lamar High School, former employee of Tyson Foods and was currently employed by Acme Glass in Monroe, La. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Marie Hilton, and grandfather, Joe V. Miller.
Survivors include his widow, Cathy Hilton; one daughter, D. J. Kasper of Hartman; four stepchildren, David, James, Elizabeth and Bryan of Monroe, La.; parents, Dennis and Martha Edwards of Clarksville; one brother, Dennis L. Edwards of Clarksville; two sisters, Charlie Gullette and Elizabeth Clark, both of Clarksville; and two nieces, Kaitlin Edwards and Hailey Clark, both of Clarksville.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Lock Arbor cemetery in Monroe, La., with his cousin, Rev. Clay Hilton of Fort Worth, Texas, officiating.

Stella Mae Cox

Stella Mae Gilbert Cox, 67, of Clarksville died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Fallsville, daughter of the late Benjamin and Bobbie Cummins Case, widow of Charles Gilbert and Jesse Cox, member of the VFW Auxiliary, former employee of Singer Company and Area Agency on Aging, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, James, Jasper, Efton and Elmer Case; one sister, Martha Bohannon; and one niece, Patricia Aborn.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lori Gilbert of Clarksville and Lonnie and Rose Gilbert of Lamar; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Pansy Case of Bentonville and Leslie and Jimmie Case of Kingmon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Blackie and Thelma Gilbert of Lamar; sisters-in-law, Florence Boggs of Clarksville, Lillian Gilbert of Lamar, Ruth Ethridge of Texas, Alice Gilbert of Murfreesboro, and Artie Bell Case Burton; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Case officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Gilbert, Charlie Gilbert, Jason Gilbert, Levi Gilbert, Vic Gilbert, and Steven Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Stewart, Danny Curtis, Randy Gilbert, Gary Moore, and Sonny Schmidt.

Allison R. Payne

Allison Rylee Payne, infant daughter of Mark and Christina Payne of Clarksville, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at her home.
Other survivors include one sister, Maranda Payne of Clarksville; one brother, Matthew Payne of Magazine; grandparents, Lonnie and Jackie Harris of Lamar and David and Anna May Payne of Clarksville; great-grandparents, Delmer and Betty Freeman of Lamar, Dorothy Foster of Russellville, the late Johnnie Harris, the late Walter and Vernie Christian, and the late Hewitt and Louize Elizabeth Payne; great-great-grandparents, Essie Freeman of Lamar, the late Lee Freeman, Doris Harris of Seattle, Wash., and the late Elmer Harris; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Charles Christian officiating. Burial was in Annie's Chapel cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Alton E. Speaks

Alton Earnest Speaks, 64, of Ozone died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Mount Herman, Okla., son of the late Robert Lee and Mattie Lou Burgen Speaks, graduate of Van-Cove High School in Mena, Army veteran of the Korean War, and former instructor with Army Security Agency.
Survivors include his widow, Vickie Speaks; two daughters and one son-in-law, Venita and Tony Kee of Kilgore, Texas, and Yvonne Speaks of Ozone; three sisters, Bonnie Baker of Dardanelle, Mattie Bell Jones of Longview, Texas, and Ruby Barton of Arp, Texas; one brother, Carl Speaks of Arp, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Minnow Creek cemetery with Rev. Carl Sory officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Bennie M. Carpenter

Bennie Mae Carpenter, 87, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004.
She was a native of Abilene, Texas, completed high school in Oklahoma City, Okla., former employee of Marsha's Pig Stand, active in Capitol Hill Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday school class, widow of Quannah Lee Carpenter, and was preceded in death by two children, Kenneth Lee and Esther.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Glen (Buck) and Peggy; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and David; one half-brother, Ross Barnett; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one niece, Jeanette Jennett and husband, Norman.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Capitol Hill Baptist Church with burial in Moore City cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Capitol Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 304 SE 134th, Oklahoma City, OK 73109.

Elizabeth A. Smith

Eliziabeth Ann (Lizzie) Smith, 20, of Lamar died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Lee (Buck) Smith, and one brother, Roger Smith.
Survivors include her mother, Connie Kimbrel Smith of Lamar; four sisters, Loretta Judah of Lamar, Saundra Johnston and Leah Bridgewater, both of Clarksville, and Marsha Smith of Conway; three brothers, Joshua Smith, James Smith and Michael Smith, all of Clarksville; grandparents, Ishmel and Maggie Smith of Clarksville and the late Charlie and Mary Kimbrel; six nephews; two nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bill Holt officiating. Burial was in Mossville cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bill Hallum, Aaron Arnold, Darwin Judah, James Craft, Charlie Ritchie and Roy Parks.
Honorary pallbearer was Cody Graham.

Golden M. Bartlett

Golden Marvel Bartlett, 89, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Hartman, widow of Richard Bartlett, and member of Bluff Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Tedder of Searcy, Phyllis Ann Byrum of Benton, and Betty Standridge of Fort Smith; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow in the Houston cemetery at Altus.
Memorials may be made to Bluff Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 2300 Bluff Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Teddy Wayne Killough

Ricky Lee Harmon
Teddy Wayne Killough, 39, and Ricky Lee Harmon, 46, both of Lamar, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 109 one-tenth mile from Clarksville city limits.
Killough was assistant manager of GMC Farms in London, son of the late Eugene Killough, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy Killough, Fred Killough, and Thomas Overbey.
Harmon was employed as a live haul driver for Tyson Foods, son of the late Howard Harmon, and was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Harmon.
Killough is survived by two daughters, Ashley Killough and Morgan Killough, both of Lamar; mother, Bessie Harmon Killough; two sisters, Sue Noyes of Lamar and Toni Killough of Subiaco; and four brothers, Frank Killough, Jerry Killough and Douglas Killough, all of Lamar, and Mike Killough of London.
Harmon is survived by his widow, Carol Ann Gipson Harmon; one daughter, Cara L. Harmon of Lamar; mother, Lura Killough Harmon of Lamar; five sisters, Vaughn Dell Watson of Hagarville, Peggy Ramsey of Rogers, Alice King of Clarksville, Georgene Karstetter of North Little Rock, and Debbie Davidson of Hunt; and two brothers, Charlie H. Harmon and Jim G. Harmon, both of Lamar.
Funeral for Killough and Harmon will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial for Killough will be at the Reynolds cemetery and burial for Harmon will be at Lamar cemetery.
Active pallbearers for Killough will be Keith McCarley, Robert Clark, Roy Lemaster, Raymond Young, Roger Holman, and Kelly Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Jerry Ogden and Bubba Noyes.
Active pallbearers for Harmon will be John Belcher, Bill Overbey, Junior Jennings, Tracy Crooks, Bruce Butler and Jimmy Ogden. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Garrison, Don Roy Morland, Jerry Ogden, Keith McCarley, Alvie Joe Hollan and H. L. Stumbaugh.
