Denise Turner Shomber
Randy Derek Turner
Naomi Denise Turner Shomber, 21, of Hartman, and her brother, Randy Derek Turner, 16, of Ozone died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 109 one-tenth mile from Clarksville city limits.
Shomber was a graduate of Lamar High School and Turner was a student at Oark Public School. They were Baptist.
Shomber is survived by her husband, Justus Shomber; and one son, Matthew Ryan Shomber of the home.
Shomber and Turner are survived by their parents, Darrell and Andrea Turner of Ozone; grandparents, Bobby and Ruth Turner of Ozone and Jerry and Evelyn Oliver of Clarksville; and one brother, Ronnie Turner of Ozone.
Funeral service for Shomber and Turner will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Ray Brown officiating. Burial will be in Ozone cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers for Shomber will be Chris Boen, Josh Holt, Robert Stepp, Zeeke Herrod, Kenny Stepp and Josh Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Don English, Dan English, Darren Turner, Wesley Oliver and Zachary Oliver.
Active pallbearers for Turner will be members of the Oark Senior High basketball team. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Oark Junior High basketball team.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Lola A. Phillips
Lola A. Phillips, 98, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
She was a native of Newton County, daughter of the late James Monroe and Tamer Carolin Wheeler Rutledge, member of the Church of Christ and in 1996 was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Claud Phillips.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Verda and Robert Bartlett of Clarksville; one sister, Ertie Light of Ramona, Calif.; four grandchildren, Linda Betnar, Jan Hilton and Robert Bartlett II, all of Clarksville, and Debra Wofford of Ozark; four great-grandchildren, Kelly Betnar, T. J. Hilton, Melissa Ford and Brock Sexton; and two great-great-granddaughters, Tamer Ford and Callie Hilton.
Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with David Coats officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Bartlett II, Robert Wofford, Tim Hilton, T. J. Hilton, Danny Betnar and Ryan Ford.
Sandra L. Jones
Sandra L. Jones, 43, of Scranton died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a native of Pomona, Calif., daughter of the late Ralph Vaughn and Norma Jeanette Perkins Bray, graduate of Russellville High School and attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville for two years.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Jones; one daughter, Destiny Jones of Scranton; one son, Ryan Richie of Dover; two nephews, Anthony Bray and wife, Teresa, of Scranton and Noah Bray of Clarksville; and two nieces, Jennifer Bray of Dover and Laura Bray of Atkins.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. The body will be cremated.
Pallbearers will be Andy Lynch, Mark Jeringen, Ronald Williamson, Steve Jones, Brian Jones, and David Bidwell.
Sedric Richardson
Sedric M. Richardson, 65, of London died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at his home.
He was a truck driver and carpenter, son of the late Sanford Dewey and Mary Ellen Tucker Richardson, and a Baptist.
Survivors are three sons, Glenn Richardson and Sedric D. Richardson, both of Clarksville, and Jay Richardson of Lawton, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and two nieces.
The body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Delbert Ray Turner
Delbert Ray Turner, 77, of Seal Beach, Calif., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004.
He was a former resident of Lamar, son of the late Alford and Lena Turner of Lamar, 50-year resident of Seal Beach, Calif., and retired superintendent for the city of Westminster, Calif.
Survivors include his widow, Marcella Burgess Turner; one son, Larry Turner of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Betty Crutchfield and Marsha Becker, both of California; four brothers, Arnold Turner and Kenneth Turner, both of Lamar, Ottis Turner of Oregon, and Burl Wayne Turner of California; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Calvary Baptist Church in Westminster, Calif., with burial at Westminster Memorial Park.
Alean M. Gross
Alean Mamie Gross, 87, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church, widow of Doyle Gross, daughter of the late George Walter and Florence Elizabeth Smith McGuire, and was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Gross; three sisters, Virginia Hicks, Ruby Faulkner and Orene Barentine; and three brothers, Gerald McGuire, Kenneth McGuire, and Carrol McGuire.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Nelson of Clarksville; one sister, Lavonne Marcum of Des Arc; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Roller-Cox Chapel with burial in Lone Pine cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Gilliam, Mark Hatchett, Philip Taylor, Harold Pitts, Eugene Faulkner, and Carl Turpin.
Arvin Massengale Jr.
Arvin (Junior) Massengale Jr., 67, of Hartman died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Luella (Bailey) and Arvin Massengale Sr., graduate of Clarksville High School, supervisor for Navajo Mining Company in Farmington, N. M., for ten years, retired maintenance supervisor of Arkansas Nuclear One, owner and operator of AMJ Machine Company, raised registered cattle and horse, former president of Johnson County Roundup Club, deacon of First Baptist Church, former Johnson County Girls Club basketball and softball coach, and was preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Kelton of House Springs, Mo.
Survivors include his widow, JoAnn Massengale; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Wayne and Cindy Massengale of Alma; two daughters and sons-in-law, LeCleta and David Aitken of Scranton and Sheila and Neil Thomas of Clarksville; three brothers, F. M. Massengale of Green Forest, Carroll Massengale of Cedarville, and Garrie Massengale of Searcy; three sisters, Wanda Cozort of House Springs, Mo., Anna Jo Smith of Waldron, and Rita Vaught of Scranton; and nine grandchildren, Scott and Brittany Massengale of Alma, Trace, Jaxon, Zach and Morgan Thomas of Clarksville, Barbara Aitken and Ronda Aitken Huff of Scranton, and Heather Aitken McGuire of Bella Vista.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Dr. Robert Brown and Rev. Billy Ray Usery officiating.
Burial will be in West Mt. Zion cemetery near Hartman.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Meek, Danny Leeds, Tim Swindle, Dane Woodard, Dave Ross, and Lonnie Qualls.

Gladys Yeager
Gladys Yeager, 90, of Lamar died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a native of Raspberry, daughter of the late Joe and Annah Waterman Humphrey, widow of Lewis A. Yeager, former resident of Treat, member of the Falling Water Church, and was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Humphrey.
She is survived by one aunt, Stella Waterman of Dover.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Treat cemetery with Rev. Lester Chisum officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Henry A. Coords
Henry A. (Hank) Coords, 50, of Fallsville died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Fallsville.
He was a Navy veteran and was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Coords; and one brother, Chris Coords.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanifer Kozakiewicz of Fall River, Mass.; parents, Paul and Irmgard Montanus Coords of Fallsville; one brother, Ralf Montanus of Coy; and two grandchildren, Carlos M. Kozakiewicz and Hanna A. Kozakiewicz, both of Fall River, Mass.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Salus Free Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Boen officiating. The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
