Elna V. Leonard

Elna Virginia Leonard, 89, of Clarksville died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Monty and Rilla Fiefe Davidson, widow of Paul C. Leonard, retired school teacher, and member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville.
She is survived by two nieces, Beatrice Yeargain of Clarksville and Janice LaBarge of Sacramento, Calif.; and one nephew, Benny Leonard of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with burial to follow at Maple Springs cemetery near Batesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Yeargain, Rob Leonard, Jim LaBarge, Benny Leonard, William Freer, and Larry Horton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Roller Cox Funeral Home.

James B. Daniel

James B. Daniel, 80, of Knoxville died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a minister, member of Bible Standard Fellowship Assemblies, son of the late John D. and Tennie Patterson Daniel, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Gracie Sparks and Hattie Manley; and four brothers, Namon E. Daniel, John W. Daniel, Clyde W. Daniel, and Gorman K. Daniel.
Survivors include his widow, Loleta Daniel; and one sister, Katherine Green of LaCrecenta, Calif.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Leroy Muncy and Robert Higganbottom officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Daniel, Dewey Daniel, Corby Davison, Charles Nicklas, Jerry Hankins, and Richard Pelts.

James S. Poteet

James Sam Poteet, 63, of Clarksville died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was retired, Army veteran, and son of the late Francis Poteet.
Survivors include his mother, Rena Poteet of Clarksville; one brother, William Poteet of Columbus, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Leanne, Cherry, Tanya and Scott Poteet; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Jessica, Graham, Chloe, Julian, Jacob, Frederick, Franklin and Rachel; and cousins, Pat Hunt Fisher of Newport, Sharon Hunt Lloyd of Clearwater, Fla., Gary Scarborough of Clarksville, and Jerry Way and Beau Poteet, both of Dallas, Texas.
The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Margaret McCarley

Margaret Rebecca Higgs McCarley, 86, of Lamar died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Knoxville, daughter of the late Zena Horace and Agnes Rebecca Ketcheside Higgs, widow of John Frank McCarley, graduate of Lamar High School, attended college in Conway, and was a charter member of the Lamar Baptist Church where she was a member of Mary Martha Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by one son, John McCarley Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Robinson; one brother, Rye Higgs; one sister, Mildred Higgs; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Billy H. McCarley, Randy B. McCarley, Ricky D. and Lisa A. McCarley, and Michael K. and Paige McCarley, all of Lamar; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara A. Watson of Knoxville, and Gail and James (Pete) Nichols and Elaine and Charles (Gene) Leeds, all of Lamar; one brother, Z. H. Higgs Jr. of Knoxville; two sisters, Mary Dean Green and Imogene Murphy, both of Fresno, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Lamar Baptist Church with Rev. Nelson Wilhelm and Rev. Clyde Vire officiating.
Burial was in Knoxville cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Todd Higgins, Jason Higgins, Brent Robinson, Chris Nichols, Greg McCarley, Jeff McCarley, Luke Leeds, Jake Leeds, Jon McCarley, and Daniel McCarley.
Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Tamara Danette Atwood, Kyla Reynolds, Shelly Robinson, Billie Dawn McCarley, Malina Wood, Amanda Reisch, Amy McCoy, Elizabeth McCarley, Leslie McCarley, Alison McCarley, Rebekah McCarley, Katie Jo McCarley, and sons-in-law, Shelby Robinson, James (Pete) Nichols, Gene Leeds and Kenneth Higgins.
Memorials may be made to the Lamar Baptist Church, 280 CR 2655, Lamar, AR 72846.

Maxie E. Palmer

Funeral for Maxie E. Palmer, 81, of Benton, Ill., who died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at his home, was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Skinner officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Gray, Farrand Gray, Rodney Gilley, Timothy Byfield, Drew Byfield, and Ray Patton.
He was a native of Hope, son of the late Louis and Bertha Pinkston Palmer, Army Air Force veteran of World War II, and was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amande Palmer; and one great-grandchild, Michael Andrew Knoles.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Palmer; four daughters and spouses, Sheila Palmer and Gary Bayfield of Pocahontas, Rosetta and Ron Gilley of Rockford, Ill., Maxine Palmer of Benton, Ill., and Pamela and Joe Gray of Havelock, N. C.; one son and spouse, Michael and Yvonne Palmer of McAlester, Okla.; one sister and spouse, Mildred and John Bristol of Okean; six brothers and spouses, Clifford and Ruth Palmer of Clinton, Leroy and Wendy Palmer, Clayborn and Lou Palmer, Bill and Barb Palmer, Larry and Sheila Palmer and Tom and Dee Palmer, all of Rockford, Ill., and Robert and Irma Palmer of Stockton, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Melissa D. Stephens

Melissa Diann Stephens, 44, of Clarksville died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was born at McAlester, Okla., to Lewis and Mildred McCutcheon George.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha and Brent Brown of Hartman; two brothers, Samuel Jones of Lamar and Johnny Jones of Paris; and two grandchildren, Alexis Baxley and Brent Brown Jr., both of Hartman.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Rick Reeds officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Hall cemetery at New Blaine.
Active pallbearers were James Armijo, Anthony Bray, David Bidwell, Joe Kraus, and Kenneth Kelly.
Honorary pallbearer was Rudy Armijo.

Meda K. Skidgel

Meda K. Skidgel, 89, of Cabot, formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at her home.
She was a retired nurse, member of Life Tabernacle Church of Cabot and Belle Grove Chapter No. 56 Order of the Eastern Star at Ludwig, daughter of the late Harden A. and Carrie Mae Bean King, and widow of Otis H. Skidgel.
She is survived by one daughter, Della Allen of Cabot; three grandchildren, Michael W. Jennings and Vickie L. Dreher, both of Cabot, and Deletta K. Dreher of Aurora, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Clyde Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Airy cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Dreher, Josh McReynolds, Lester Holland, Ben King, Kyle King, and Shaune LaPee.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Parker L. Fullerton

Parker Louis Fullerton, infant son of Shane and Jama Fullerton of Searcy, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
Other survivors include two brothers, J. Paul and Pate; grandparents, Larry and Judy Holman of Lamar and Russ and Paulette Fullerton; great-grandparents, Wilma Fullerton, Pauline and Eugene Gillette, and Son and Betty James of Hagarville; uncle, Brock Holman; and aunt, Marissa Holman.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Paul Fullerton and Odell and Betty Holman of Lamar; and an aunt, Brook Ann Holman.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, Sept. 12, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Searcy.

Gloria Faye Shields

Gloria Faye Shields, 71, of Owasso, Okla., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in Tulsa, Okla.
A native of the Harmony Community, she was a daughter of the late George Monroe and Lucy Cornelia Rhea Cowan, 1947 graduate of Clarksville High School, and widow of Wayne Hollis Shields. She was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Cowan; and three sisters, Robbie Woodrow Weatherton, Juanita Biazo and Jetty King.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ron Traywick of Choctaw, Okla.; two granddaughters, Sara Marisa Coker of Yukon, Okla., and Meagen Leigh Strahan of Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons, Walter Benson Traywick II of Midwest City, Okla., and Jeffery Adam Traywick of Canyon City, Colo.; one great-grandson, Dalton Wayne Coker; one brother and sister-in-law, Audra and Margaret Cowan of Fort Smith; and one sister, Avis Day of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral was Monday, June 24, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, Okla., with Dr. Wana Archer officiating. Burial was at Graceland Memorial Park in Owasso, Okla.
