George A. Higgins

George Allen Higgins, 64, of Lamar died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a son of the late William C. and Captola Sutton Higgins, Baptist, and retired Tyson Foods employee.
Survivors include his widow, Patricia Lou Bradley Higgins; one daughter, Henrietta Scamardo of Lavaca; three sons, Barney Higgins and C. W. Higgins, both of Clarksville, and Clifford Higgins of Lamar; five stepsons, Cecil J. Morland of West Fork, Larry Wayne Morland of Ozone, John Mark Morland of Lamar, and Gary Lynn Morland and Dale Havener, both of Clarksville, four sisters, Geneive Roland of Grants Pass, Ore., Carolyn Phelps of Coal Hill, Brenda Bowman of Guthrie, Okla., and Linda Rhinehart of Paris; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Sally Ladd officiating. The body was cremated.

Iva P. Ragsdale

Iva Partain Ragsdale, 87, of Russellville died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
A daughter of the late Alex and Lucy Clayton Partain, she was a native of Dover, widow of Robert Ragsdale, attended the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by five sisters, Minnie Dale, Rose Murphy, Loyal Jones, Lillie Merrit, and Juanita Partain; and one great-granddaughter, Dawn Marie King.
Survivors include three daughters, Jewell Sparks of Lamar, Minnie Huffman of Hector, and Pearl Henry of Lone Grove, Okla.; one brother, Clayton Partain of Atkins; one sister, Ruby Harris of Russellville; 17 grandchildren; 20-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Ken Partain and Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial was in Owens cemetery near Dover.

Joe W. Stewart

Joe W. Stewart, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Brown and Leona Clark Stewart, member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, retired truck driver, and was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Wood Stewart.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Harderson of Clarksville and Mary Dwyer of Maumelle; two sons, Bill Stewart of Clarksville and Max Stewart of Fort Smith; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Stewart and Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Vernon cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Keith Stewart, Brent Coffee, Brad Coffee, Michael Don Stewart, Joseph Stewart, and Alex Harderson.

Bobby Joe Johnson

Bobby Joe Johnson, 64, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
He was a son of the late Mike and Edna Robinson Johnson, Baptist, and preceded in death by one son, Steven Douglas Johnson; and one grandchild, Bobby Eugene Johnson.
Survivors are his widow, Alta Carlotta Patrick Johnson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra and Charles Parrish of Appleton, Robin and Tony Harderson of Lamar, and Latina Lynn Johnson of Clarksville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Patsy Johnson and Patrick Michael and Sonia Johnson, all of Clarksville; four sisters, Bertha Bruton of Clarksville, Rose Moore of Lavaca, Betty Morse of Dyer, and Jimmie (Fidge) Raymond of Greenville, Mich.; one brother, Raymond Johnson of Dover; and four grandchildren, Jimmy Grice of Appleton, Sherry Grice of London, Charlena Johnson of Hector, and Jazmyn Johnson of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Mike Payne officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Grice, Thomas Black, Jesse Johnson, Eddie Bowden, Scott Bowden, and Richard Johnson.

Esther F. Haynes

Esther F. Haynes, 91, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Spadra, she was a daughter of the late John and Amanda Patterson, widow of J. D. Haynes, member of First Baptist Church, and preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Lee Oberste.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph Haynes of Altus and J. D. Haynes Jr. of Clarksville; one son-in-law, Alfred Oberste of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren, Jeremy Haynes of Russellville and Billy Oberste and Brian Oberste, both of Fort Smith.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Green, Thomas Jones, Neal Jones, Jimmy Richardson, Duane Steele, and John Richardson.

Edra Jean King

Daniel Alan Hatmaker
Edra Jean King, 62, of Boonville, N. C., and her six-year-old grandson, Daniel Alan Hatmaker, son of Teresa Hatmaker and Mark Alan Shreve, also of Boonville, N. C., died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Wednesday, April 17, 2002.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Gold Skaggs, Baptist, retired employee of Chatham Manufacturing, and preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Skaggs and Sonny Augustine Skaggs; and one grandson, Christopher Ryan Gentry.
Survivors are her husband, Richard Wayne King; four sons, Ed Shreve of Elkin, N. C., and Mike Shreve, Mark Shreve and Brian Shreve, all of Boonville, N. C.; one half-son, Billy Shore of Jonesville, N. C.; five grandchildren, Nissia Makalle Shreve, Jessica Nichole Shreve, Jessica Leeanna Smoker, Matthew Shreve, and Jason Shreve; mother, Estelon Skaggs of Hagarville; five sisters, Robin Clark, Donna Skaggs, Debbie Bjorgum, Sue Morland, and Linda Kay Skaggs; three brothers, Chester Skaggs, Kenneth Dean Skaggs, and James Skaggs; cousin, Ricky Skaggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Other survivors of Daniel Alan Hatmaker, who was a kindergarten student at Boonville Elementary School in Boonville, N. C., include his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Anderson; two brothers, Matthew Jean Shreve and Thomas Joseph Hatmaker; aunt, Darlene Goforth; and four cousins.
The double funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Victory Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Spencer King and Rev. Gorrell Inscore officiating.
Burial was in the Church cemetery under the direction of Gentry Funeral Service of Yadkinville, N. C.

Faye Martin

Faye Martin, 89, of Russellville, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Giles D. and Lee Ethel Warren Jones, widow of Firman Martin, and member of Clarksville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Hartsfield of Russellville; one son, Buddy Martin of Marietta, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chari Grigsby of Russellville, Janet Canada of Fort Smith, and Sandy Penner and Bobby Martin, both of Fayetteville; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Usery officiating. Burial was in Stillwell cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Jones, Neal Jones, Bobby Martin, Dutch Houston, Jimmy Grigsby, and Rodney Canada.

Ines O. Allen

Ines O. Allen, 93, of Healdsburg, Calif., formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at her home.
She was the widow of Arthur Allen, member of the Church of Christ, and native of Stilwell, Okla.
Survivors are three daughters, Etta Adams and Donna Dillard, both of Healdsburg, Calif., and Jane Messamore of Cloverdale, Calif.; one son, Jim Allen of Martinez, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday, April 12, with burial at Oak Mound cemetery in Healdsburg, Calif.

James O. Hagler

James O. Hagler, 61, of Van Buren, father of Pamela Archuleta of Lamar, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was a native of Ozark, son of the late James Allen Hagler, Army veteran, retired truck driver, and Pentecostal.
Other survivors include one son, Wayne Hagler of Bossier City, La.; mother, Moline Nichols Hagler; three sisters, Brenda Camarillo, Elaine Creel and Betty West, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Ray Hagler of Mena, Steve Hagler of Watts, Okla., and Bob Hagler of St. Joseph, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and companion, Patricia Stem of Fort Smith.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial was at Harmon cemetery north of Ozark.
Pallbearers were Rusty Hagler, Frank Hagler, Wayne West, Ron Archuleta, Zack Archuleta, and Larry Archuleta, and Justice Bowen.

Lois Warren Webb

Lois Warren Webb, 91, of Hackett, formerly of Johnson County, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her home.
She was a retired nurse from Colonial Hospital in Fort Smith, member of Valley View Church of Christ, widow of Henry T. Webb, and was preceded in death by one son, Charles Cunningham; and one stepson, Charles Webb.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Brasher of Hackett; two stepdaughters, Mildred McClendon of Hackett and Frankie Jenkins of Fort Smith; one son, Joe Cunningham of Searcy; one sister, Verona Rutledge of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Ray Dean Warren of Osceola, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Valley View Church of Christ at Greenwood with burial in Ramsey cemetery at Hackett. Arrangements were under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers were Carl Coppeans, Bill Yowell, Troy Sweeten, Ron Griffin, Larry Owen, Les Breger, Bob Kleck, and David Young.
