Joe Porter

Joe Porter, 94, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Crawford County Hospital.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Army veteran of World War II, retired dry cleaners employee, son of the late Guy C. and Tommie King Porter; and was preceded in death by three daughters, Faye, June, and Joan.
Survivors include his widow, Estelle Gould Porter; one son, Alvin Porter of Knoxville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Earlene Domerese of Van Buren; one stepson, Don Doss of Van Buren; two sisters, Doris Vernelle Church of Fort Worth, Texas, and Helen Hill of Farmington; two brothers, Wilson E. Porter of Booneville and Tom B. Porter of Fullerton, Calif.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with John Ballard and Mike Eppinette officiating.
Burial was in Harmony cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were James Clark, Kinney Denton, Flynn Kinman, Myron Been, James Horn, and William Rutledge.

Benton T. Jones

Benton T. Jones, 92, of Russellville, a native of Crow Mountain, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Russellville.
He was a son of the late Marshall and Avice Kendrick Jones, member of Mars Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Crow Mountain and the Pope County Fox Hunters Association, retired cattleman, and was preceded in death by two wives, Marie Bowden Jones and Opal Overbey Jones; one daughter, Neva Dean Stark; one grandson, Thomas Douglas Stark; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dick and Pam Jones of Clarksville, T. J. and Margaret Jones of Harrison, and John Paul Jones of Center Ridge; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patsy Fiskin and Betty and Bob Miller, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Billy Warren Jones of Crow Mountain; two sisters, Lena Jane Keenan of Russellville and Nell Norris of Crow Mountain; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Mars Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Moody officiating.
Burial was in Bowden cemetery at Pottsville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers were Tim Jones, Matt Jones, Ben Jones, Mark Smith, Joe Norris, and Dewey Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Pete Norris, Charles Wayne Jones, Joe Maxwell, and A. J. Price.

Barbara L. Kasper

Barbara L. Kasper, 41, of Enid, Okla., formerly of Hartman, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Okla.
A native of Culver City, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Wendell Cook Sr., an employee of Oxford Cleaners North in Enid, Okla., member of Union Grove Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one sister, Wendy Askins.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford Kasper; mother, Beverly Cook of Hartman; three stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Chris and Sarah Kasper, Jim Kasper and Nick Kasper, all of Enid, Okla.; three sisters, Colleen Kasper, Debbie Kasper and Virginia Kasper, all of Hartman; one brother, Wendell Cook Jr. of Siloam Springs; two step-grandchildren, Clint Kasper and Faith Kasper, both of Enid, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Burnett King officiating.
Burial was in Union Grove cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Travis Kasper, T. J. Kasper, Chad Dayton, David Gilmer, Matthew Kasper, and Stacy Miller.

Darla Kaye Perry

Darla Kaye Maiden Perry, 39, of Clarksville died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, employee of Sara Lee Hosiery, and a native of Ozark.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Perry; one daughter, Shannon Renne Maiden of Conway; parents, Mina Loy (Rip) and Barbara Teal of Clarksville; two stepdaughters, Penny Renne Schevey of Clarksville and Crystal Ann Perry of Jupiter, Fla.; maternal grandmother, June Welsh of Clarksville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Nick and Sherry Teal and Billy and Tabatha Teal, all of Clarksville, and Milton and Jackie Teal of Russellville; and three step-grandchildren, Elijah Alexander Perry and Acacia Bethany Schevey, both of Jupiter, Fla., and Carson Ryan Perry of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Fudge and Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.

Gilbert Willis

Gilbert Willis, 93, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired farmer, son of the late Andrew Jace and Raniey Ramsey Willis, and was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Willis; and five brothers, Gather, Gettee, Clyde, Tommy, and Osie Willis.
Survivors are his widow, Annie Mae Willis; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Laudell Fetters of Clarksville; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and several nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Melvin Bankhead officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Taylor, Don Wages, David Bostwick, Stan Beldon, Bill Tyler, and Ernesto Hernandez.

Harold D. Booher

Harold D. Booher, 68, of Russellville, brother of Gladine Parker of the Flat Rock Community, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center.
A son of the late Thomas Carroll and Bessie Vinson Booher, he was a native of London, Baptist, retired teacher having taught 21 years in the Russellville School District, cattle farmer, and a member of Russellville Masonic Lodge No. 274, Little Rock Consistory, Arkansas Limousin Association and Pope County Cattleman's Association. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Booher; and one brother, Johnny Lee Booher.
Survivors are one brother, Herbert C. Booher of Russellville; one other sister, Nelda Simers of Wichita, Kan.; five nieces; two nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Ellis McCuin and Rev. Ronnie Birge officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were Charles Cochran, Don White, Vernon White, Terry White, Danny Davis, and Alfred Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers were James Rye and Dr. Randeep Mann.

J. B. (Bill) Houston

J. B. (Bill) Houston, 74, of Clarksville died Friday, March 8, 2002, at his home.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late George and Emma Laugwitz Houston, member of the Clarksville Church of Christ, Army veteran of World War II and Korean War, and former employee of Karstetter Glass and Body Shop in Fayetteville for 28 years and Nite Lite for several years. He was preceded in death by one sister, Bernelle Masterson; and one brother, Jim Houston.
Survivors are his widow, Irene Stamps Houston; two daughters, Donna Nichols of Saudi Arabia and Debra Briggs of Hamilton, Mont.; and three grandchildren, Matthew Briggs and Hayli Briggs, both of Hamilton, Mont., and Derek Nichols of Saudi Arabia.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Clarksville Church of Christ with Mike Eppinette officiating.
Burial will be in Woodland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Clark, James Risinger, Kenny Denton, Norman Sexton, Myron Been, and John Chrisman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Williams, Levon Bean, Herman Houston, Snapper Houston, Dutch Houston, and Bud White.

Myrtle M. Martin

Myrtle M. Martin, 90, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of San Francisco, Calif., daughter of the late John and Hazel Cochran Blum, and widow of Donald P. Martin.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Mathews of Mayflower; one son, Donald Martin of California; two grandchildren, Jeanne Rossie of Conway and Yvonne Daniels of Little Rock; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Paige Rossie.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

William L. Bridges

William Lewis Bridges, 65, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired Tyson Foods employee, son of the late William Elmer and Anna B. McKinnon Bridges, and was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia M. Pope Bridges; one sister, Janice Yvonne (Sue) Brown; and one brother, John Daniel Bridges.
He is survived by two sons, Allen Bridges and Roger Bridges, both of Clarksville; one sister, Sheila Brothers of Shelbyville, Tenn.; one brother, Charles Samuel Bridges of Largo, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Lamar cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
