Marshall Kenton
Marshall Hall Kenton, 82, of Scranton died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in Clarksville.
He was a painter, member of the United Methodist Church and son of the late Charles Summer and Bertha Maude Hall Kenton.
Survivors include his widow, Mildred Pridgin Kenton; one daughter, Marsha Buck of Paris; two sisters, Helen Hatcher and Georgia Cowan, both of Merced, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial in McKendree cemetery at Subiaco.
Mildred Michelsen
Mildred Michelsen, 89, of Richardson, Texas, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Richardson, Texas.
She was a daughter of the late Calvin Bart and Sally Lucille Allen Price, widow of John T. Michelsen, member of the Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Blake.
She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Blake of Richardson, Texas; one son, Roy Michelsen of East Pointe, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Robin Gerdes of Rowlett, Texas, Lisa Rosenow of Roseville, Mich., Craig Blake of Richardson, Texas, and Jason Michelsen of East Pointe, Mich.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel with John Ballard officiating. Burial will be in the Minnow Creek cemetery.
Ruby Lewallen
Ruby Lewallen, 54, of Atkins, formerly of Johnson County, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002.
She was a retired license practical nurse, native of Atkins, daughter of the late Paul and Ida Cross McCubbins, and was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Faye McCubbins; and one brother, Haley McCubbins.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Lewallen Sr.; two sons, Carl Lewallen Jr. of Fort Smith and John Lewallen of Mt. Home, Idaho; four brothers, Ray McCubbins of Centerville, Danny McCubbins of Texas, Jimmy Dale McCubbins of Kansas, and Paul Wayne McCubbins of Odessa, Texas; one sister, Pauline Hollowell of Odessa, Texas; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Lemley Funeral Chapel in Atkins with Rev. Fred Goates officiating. Burial will be in Bewley cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clem Lewallen, Grady Lewallen, Wayne Lewallen, Charles Lewallen, Roy Lewallen, and Gary Lewallen.
Tommy D. Hurst
Tommy Dean Hurst, 68, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Mart Wesley and Della Mae Bray Hurst, Army veteran, retired police officer for the city of Fort Smith having served for 24 years plus, attended Harvest Time Tabernacle, and was a member of the Arkansas Municipal Police Association, the Arkansas Retired Municipal Police Association, American Legion Post No. 31 and VFW Post No. 2036.
Survivors include his widow, Dorothy Geraldine Hampton Hurst; four sons, Marty of Van Buren, Keith of Houston, Steve of Greenwood, and Wesley of Fort Smith; one sister, Mozelle Stallings of Bonita, La.; and eight grandchildren, Shawn, Mart, Blake, Brayden, Miranda, Whitney, Kortney, and Kassidy.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with Rev. Kemp Holden officiating. Graveside services and burial followed at 1 p.m. at the Hess cemetery at Coal Hill.
Active pallbearers were Rex Mathews, Harley Thomas, Tom Masingale, Russell Bartlett, Ronnie Atkins, and Donald Ray Hurst.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fort Smith Police Department.
William E. Birnbaum
William Emal (Bill) Birnbaum, 89, of Lamar died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late George Ludwig and Lena Alma Birkhahn Birnbaum, farmer and Lutheran.
He is survived by one sister, Lena Birnbaum of Lamar.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Saint Paul cemetery at Lutherville with Rev. Darrell Kobs officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

W. E. Ragsdale
W. E. (Bill) Ragsdale, 79, of Dover died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Pope County, son of the late William and Callie Trantham Ragsdale, World War II Army veteran, member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 886, the AOPA, and the Experimental Aircraft Association, and was preceded in death by one brother, Burl (Tobe) Ragsdale.
Survivors include his widow, Vera Rose Ragsdale; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rose Ragsdale of Dover; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Wayne Lovern of Chatham, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Schwegmann, Eric Schwegmann, Sherry Ragsdale, Rebecca Ragsdale, Jamy Ragsdale, Wade Lovern, and Paul Lovern; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Nell Millsaps of Dover; one sister-in-law, Margaret Ragsdale of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial with military honors by the VFW Rogers-Rye Post No. 2282 were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Owens cemetery near Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Armil M. Storms
Armil Monroe Storms, 73, of Russellville died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Russellville.
He was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Russellville, retired from the Air Force and timber industry, son of the late H. and L. Frost Storms, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Mae Ashlock Storms.
Survivors include his widow, Helen Karnes Storms; three sons, Lance Storms of Clarksville, Armil L. Storms of Ozark, and Ricky W. Storms of Hartman; one sister, Velma Taylor of Clarksville; two brothers, Ransom Storms of Clarksville and Lee Storms of Barling; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Dan Lightfoot officiating. Burial was in Mt. Airy cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Randall Taylor, Fred Taylor, Paul Farrar, Jimmy Cox, Autry Meeker, and Ronnie Ashlock.
Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Mearns, Frank Desiderio, and Gordon Taylor.
Corinne Knight Wade
Corinne Knight Wade, 94, of Arkadelphia, mother of Leslie Wade of Clarksville, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehab.
A native of Bryant, she was a daughter of the late William and Josephine Young Knight, assisted her late husband, Eldon C. Wade, in managing the family-owned newspaper in Jayton, Texas, and had the distinction of being the first first-grade teacher in the Fountain Lake School System.
Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Wink and Sally McGinnis, both of Arkadelphia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Leek cemetery near Star City under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Star City.
Eula M. Davis
Funeral for Eula M. Davis, 67, who died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Dawson United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan. Arrangements were under the direction of Broadway Mortuary.
She was an employee of Typed Letters Inc.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Davis; two daughters, Teresa Gleason of Duluth, Ga., and Kathy Young of Panama City, Fla.; mother, Rinthie Vire Yates of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Johnson County; two sisters, Margie Carter of Albany, Ga., and Artie Laverty of Mesquite, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Haston W. Clark
Haston William Clark, 80, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Bill and Eller Clark, retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1983 where he was a quality inspector, member of Rancho Village Baptist Church where he was a deacon and director of the adult Sunday school department, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie Hamilton Clark; one brother, Houston Clark; and three sisters, Golda, Lenna and Georgie.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Geary Azlin; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry R. and Ginger Clark; and two granddaughters, Lisa and Amy Azlin.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Rancho Village Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd McKee officiating.
Burial was in Resthaven cemetery under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary of South Oklahoma City, Okla.
