Kendall L. Dixon

Kendall L. Dixon, 80, of Lamar died Jan. 24, 2002.
He was a son of the late Ester Arbaugh and George Dixon, Baptist, member of the Mulberry Lodge and Mulberry Valley Grange, and a lay minister at Catalpa, Yale and Oark.
He is survived by one daughter, Dixie Bennett of Emporia, Kan.; two sons, Lee Dixon of Madison, Kan., and S. D. Dixon of Emporia, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
Masonic graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Case cemetery at Fallsville with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Hodge, Dwight Stepp, Art Stepp, A. G. Reeves Jr., Keith Stepp, and Paul Ray Cummins.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Carter, Dallas Skaggs, Elmer Merkling, Raymond (Pug) Lovell, G. W. (Dub) Vaught, and Roy Shook.

Lois Jean Graves

Lois Jean Graves, 85, of Mountainburg died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002.
She was a member of the Mt. View Methodist Church, retired postmistress for the U. S. Postal Service and the U. S. Forestery Service, past grand mistress of the Clearcreek Eastern Star 332, grand matron of honor of the grand chapter of Arkansas, and was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Graves; and one son, Stephen Graves.
She is survived by one son, Charles Graves of Fayetteville; grandchildren; one great-grandson; and caregivers, Dorothy Hayre and Connie Seratt, both of Mountainburg.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial in the Vaught cemetery at Mountainburg.
Pallbearers were Chris Nolen, Dustin Leakey, Wayne Leakey, Jim Moody, Andy Brown, and Ronald Beliles.

Mary C. Barton

Mary Charlene Barton, 47, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Hickman, Ky., she was a daughter of the late George Leonard and Mary Lou Wiles Barton and was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Barton; and one sister, Frances Bland.
She is survived by four brothers, Leonard Barton of Lawton, Okla., James Barton of Bristol, Fla., George Barton of Jacksonville, and Charles Barton of Lonoke; one sister, Hazel Milligan of North Little Rock; and friend, Jeff Brotherton of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Private burial was at Rest Hills cemetery in North Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to Counseling Associates, 1021 Poplar Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Melvin Harden

Melvin Harden, 72, of Altus died Jan. 24, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired knife sharpener for Tyson Foods, Methodist, and was born at Mountain Top to Dan and Ivy Blaylock Harden.
Survivors include his widow, Betty Euin Harden; three daughters, Gail Byrum of Clarksville, Patsy Gattis of Altus and Sandra Byrum of Ozark; one son, Randy Harden of Altus; one sister, Ollie Askins of Ozark; one brother, Lozel Harden of Altus; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Leo Villines officiating. Burial was in Jackson cemetery at Ozark.
Pallbearers were Scott Ross, David Byrum, Michael Molnar, Rick Redden, William Askins, and Clark James.

Opal Baker

Opal Baker, 74, of Jasper, stepmother of Flossie Roach of Clarksville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was a native of Walnut, daughter of the late Garfield and Ollie Hylton Curtis, widow of Carl Baker, attended Shiloh United Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Curtis; one sister, Lorene Hopkins; two half-brothers, Virgil Hylton and Les Hylton; one stepbrother, Charlie Curtis; and one step-grandchild, Mike Roach.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Beverly Baker of Centerville, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Clinton Daniels of Jasper; one stepson, Carl Ed Baker of Russellville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Mossville Church with Rev. Donnie Villines and Elder Dorlin Sparks officiating.
Burial was in Mossville cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home of Harrison.

Ruby Y. Coffman

Ruby Marie Young Coffman, 88, of Lamar died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late George A. and Minnie V. Jarnagin Young, widow of Harry Coffman, retired secretary, member of First United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution Colonial Dames, Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, and Order of Eastern Star, and was organizing regent of the Clarksville Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two nephews, Steve Eggensperger of Cabot and Charles Pitts of Plano, Texas; and one cousin, Minnie Lou Casey of Russellville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Frank Clemmons and Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bill Porter, Keith Lewis, Jack Cecil, David Morgan, Lee White, and Robert Ed Farris.
Honorary pallbearers were Sammy Wish and Jimmy Lewis.

Sarah Collier

Sarah Palestine Davis Collier, 78, of Clarksville died Jan. 24, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Elbert and Violet Whitworth Davis, widow of Harold Collier, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Davis Collier.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Cross of Clarksville; two brothers, Raymond Davis of Clarksville and Arnold Davis of Arizona; and great-nieces, Kurston Nicole and Hailey Sarah Felkins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Mt. Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. David Zeiler officiating.
Burial was in the Hagarville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Gary Don Felkins, Buster Chronister, Ervin Collier, Kelley Collier, Larry Davis and Jimmy Steele.

Thomas Yarbrough

Thomas (Tom) Yarbrough, 94, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Ozark Nursing Home.
He was a native of Dale (Yarbrough Mountain), son of the late Levi and Nancy Kirby Yarbrough, a retired farmer and timber employee, and was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Yarbrough.
He is survived by four daughters, Aleta Mullins of Texarkana, Olene Angle of St. Louis, Mo., and Sharon Hicks and Loeta Venable, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sons, Cletus Yarbrough of Winston, Ore., Curtis Yarbrough and Clois Yarbrough, both of Dover, and Olen Yarbrough and Jerry Yarbrough, both of Clarksville; one sister, Clemmie Wyers of Mountain Top; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Willis officiating. Burial was in Sherman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Jacobs, Levi Willis, John Magby, Ken Smithee, Earl Wyers, and Carroll Sherrill.

Victor Childers

Victor Childers, 89, of Lamar died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late John Richard and Anne Hyatt Childers, retired farmer, cattleman, and Con Agra employee, member of Lamar Masonic Lodge No. 362, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; one son, John Ray Childers; four brothers, Jewell, Claude, Dewey and Burl Childers; and three sisters, Norma Giebar, Lois Crowder, and Maude Childers.
He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Albertson of Russellville; one brother, Earl Childers of Clarksville; and four grandchildren, Jackie Whiteturkey of Lamar, Janet Nimrod of Denver, Colo., Teri Crawford of Benton, and Steve Childers of Magnet Cove.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dade Kindrix officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Childers, Kenneth Childers, Mike Star, Jimmy Campbell, William Cagle, and Don Cagle.
