Bailey M. Harden
Bailey Michelle Harden, infant daughter of Michael Brian and Tabitha Louise Hartsfield Harden of Hartman, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Other survivors include one brother, Darrell Wesley Brian Harden of the home; grandparents, John W. and Jackie A. Morrow of Hunt and Darrell G. and Phyllis G. Harden of Ozark; and uncles and aunts, Brian and Kathy Morrow, Keith and Emily Morrow, Donald and Rebecca Sweeten, and Melosa Hartsfield.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
James E. Lewis
James E. (Jimmy) Lewis, 84, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Atkins, son of the late John P. and Ruth Louise Wells Lewis, member of the First United Methodist Church, 1936 graduate of Clarksville High School, 1949 graduate of the University of the Ozarks, former owner of J. Lewis Chevrolet-Oldsmobile Dealership, car dealer for 39 years, Army veteran of World War II and Korean War, lifetime member of American Legion Bunch Walton Post No. 22, member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 9, a 32nd degree Mason, lifetime trustee of the University of the Ozarks, and a former director of Farmers Bank and Trust Company.
Survivors are his widow, Marie Baskin Lewis; one niece, Sammy Lou McDonald of Russellville; and two stepnieces, Vicki Scott of Pine Bluff and Johnny Triplett of Houston, Texas.
A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Loyd O. Davis
Loyd Orland Davis, 75, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at his home.
He was a retired meat cutter, member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Navy and Air Force veteran, son of the late Alnut and Lula Wood Davis, and was preceded in death by one brother, Noel Davis.
Survivors include his widow, Angie Giacoletto Davis; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jody and Craig Beerman, Sherry and Nick Teal, and Peggy Davis, all of Clarksville, and Pat Heitz of California; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Idela Davis of Clarksville; two sisters, Maxine Porter of Lamar and Wilma Holt of Springdale; two brothers, Roland Davis and Boyd Davis, both of Clarksville; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Daniels, Kristopher Davis, Kari Davis, Nicholas Teal, and Ashley Beerman, all of Clarksville, Angela Beerman of Fort Smith, Joshua Beerman of Russellville, and Robin Heitz of California; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Daniels of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.
Burial was in the Hagarville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Craig Beerman, Kristopher Davis, Joshua Beerman, Bill Daniels, Nick Teal, Jerry Holt, Trey Meisner, and Mina Loy Teal.
The two brothers served as honorary pallbearers.
M. Estelle Faucett
Martha Estelle Faucett, 77, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Camden.
She was a daughter of the late John Henry and Ella McGuire Sullivan, widow of David L. Faucett, member of the Coal Hill Church of Christ, branch manager for the Bank of the Ozarks at Altus for 14 years, and a peach grower. She was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Cobb; and three brothers, Robbie Sullivan, Johnnie Faye Sullivan, and Hoyt Sullivan.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, David Wayne and Barbara Faucett of Camden; one brother, Bill Sullivan of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Chris (Stephanie) Hooker and Joshua Faucett, all of Camden.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Coal Hill Church of Christ with burial in the Srygley cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Leroy Douglas, Dee Yates, Ben Yates, Lindy Harvey, Kenny Styles, and Tom McCormick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of the Coal Hill Church of Christ.
Richard M. Machon
Richard Michael Machon, 52, of Hartman died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002.
A native of Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the late Leo Fred Machon, and a graduate of Cody High School in Detroit, Mich.
Survivors include his widow, Ruth Machon; mother, Catherine Machon of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Cynthia Schulte of Westland, Mich.; three brothers, Freddie Machon of New Hudson, Mich., and Robert Machon and Thomas Machon, both of Redford, Mich.; 11 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Wewers, OSB, officiating. The body was cremated.
William E. Timmerman
William Eugene (Gene) Timmerman, 61, of Alix died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at a Fort Smith hospital.
A native of Altus, he was a son of the late William H. and Maglina Glasman Timmerman, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus, member of Altus Rural Fire Department for 30 years, former employee of Cargill, and retired from Wiederkehr Winery.
Survivors include his widow, Emma Timmerman; three daughters, Suzanne Shankle, Nancy Timmerman, and Kristy Timmerman, all of Ozark; two sons, David Timmerman of Lavaca and James Timmerman of Ozark; two stepsons, John Soto of Ozark and Raymond Eugene Soto of Altus; three sisters, Cecelia Rofkahr of Altus, Rosie Reith of Hatterhill and Pauline Pennington of Wichita, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Matt Post officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery at Altus.
Members of the Altus Fire Department served as pallbearers.
Alberta W. Hopkins
Alberta W. Hopkins, 95, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of the Springhill Community, daughter of the late George Denson and Donna Belle Jacobs Conway, widow of Rube Hopkins, member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, member and past matron of Clarksville Chapter No. 172 Order of the Eastern Star, and retired from Prairie Coal Company in 1971 where she served as bookkeeper for 15 years. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Hopkins.
Survivors are ten nieces, Eva (Babe) Chrisman and Georgiana Patterson, both of Hartman, Carol Yates of Coal Hill, Don Anna Reece of Benton, Sue Hurn and LaVerne Acuff, both of Oklahoma, Ann Wells of California, and Cheryl Wisdom, Donna Jones, and Elaine Kriesel, all of Washington; and three nephews, Arch W. Conway of California, and Harold E. Conway Jr. and Gary Conway, both of Washington.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lance Jones officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Carl Dean Williams, Leo Chrisman, Jeep Yates, Robert Patterson, Ken Reece, Flynn Kinman, Dr. Ben Jacobs, and Dr. Marc Muncy.
Christene Mills
Mary Christene Mills, 66, of Dardanelle, formerly of the Hagarville area, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a daughter of the late Coy and Sinda Woodward Rowbotham, graduate of Lamar High School and the University of the Ozarks, former social worker at Clarksville, former teacher in Blue Eye, Mo., and employed by Dow Chemical in Russellville as a secretary for 27 years. She was preceded in death by two nephews, Jonathan Pitts and Paul Dane Pitts.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Jerry Crow of Russellville; and one sister, Arlene Pitts of Hagarville.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Wylie Jones officiating.
Dorothy Lee Manning
Dorothy Lee Manning, 76, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Linus and Virgie Holt Ranzie, widow of Ralph Manning, member of Spadra Baptist Church, retired Singer Company employee, and former employee of Kenner Boat.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Virgie Ann Ford of Conway and Debbie and Keith Scoggins of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Patricia Manning of Knoxville; three sisters, Mary Freed and Virginia Davis, both of Missouri, and Lillie Mae Larson of Washington; one sister-in-law, Dean Bennett of Clarksville; nine grandchildren and spouses, Rikkie and Jeff Welch, Scott and Jill Ford, Heather McClure, Chadd Manning, JoLee Manning, Kevin Manning, Cristy Parks, Jennifer Scoggins, and Kimberley Scoggins; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb Welch, Caitlyn Welch, Brittany Ford, Faith Ford, Christian Ford, Jordon McClure, Ashley Wages, Christian Parks, and Callie Gray; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sammy Wish of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Spadra Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Oden officiating.
Burial was in Knoxville cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Clyde Patterson, Charlie Davis, Steve Brown, Paul Dossett, Robert Charlton, and Carroll Pruett.
