Mozelle O'Neal

Mozelle O'Neal, 75, of Sallisaw, Okla., died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Sallisaw, Okla.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Monroe Leslie (Buddy) Johnson and Robbie Blackburn Johnson, graduate of Clarksville High School, former dental assistant, former ward clerk at Sparks Regional Medical Center, and member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Okla.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Melinda O'Neal of Sallisaw, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Zelinda and Donnie Baker of Fort Smith and Debbie and Warren Thompson of Van Buren; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynville and Margaret Johnson of Clarksville; stepmother, Mildred Johnson of Clarksville; seven grandchildren, Lorrie Smith, Chris Baker, Bryan Whittmore, Andy Iames, Justin Iames, and Lindsey and Micah O'Neal; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Sallisaw City cemetery Gazebo with Rev. Jason Helmbacher officiating. Burial will be in Sallisaw City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw, Okla.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, P. O. Box 848, Sallisaw, OK 74955.

Ocie M. Walter

Ocie M. Walter, 88, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late George C. and Nora Callahan, widow of Charles A. Walter, member of East Mt. Zion Trinity Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, L. D. Bales.
Survivors include one daughter, Thelma L. Clark of Clarksville; two sisters, Corene Yardley of Jacksonville and Jo Drennon of Leavenworth, Kan.; two brothers, Gerald Callahan of Jacksonville and James Callahan of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Linda A. Whitson of Clarksville and Elizabeth Bellar of University Place, Wash., Larry W. Hood and John M. Hayes, both of Clarksville, Nick E. Clark of Indianapolis, Ind., and Larry D. Bales, Greg Bales and David Bales, all of Seagrove Beach, Fla.; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Private services and burial were at East Mount Zion cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Dannie Lee Davis

Dannie Lee Davis, 55, of Knoxville died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Sikeston, Mo., he was a son of the late George Cecil and Ocie Marie Holt Davis, graduate of Sikeston High School, member of the Knoxville Masonic Lodge No. 370 and London Masonic Lodge, Knoxville First Baptist Church, Vietnam veteran having served with the 377 SPS Unit, and retired from LTV Aero Space in Grand Prairie, Texas, after 27 years of employment.
Survivors are his widow, Jean Davis; one daughter, Cheryl Mize of Knoxville; one son, Dannie Davis Jr. of Crestview, Fla.; two sisters, Jackie Powell of Charleston, Mo., and Betty King of Willits, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Davis and Bill Davis, both of Sikeston, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Chris Goains, John Milligan and Ryan Mize, all of Knoxville.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Knoxville First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating.
Burial and masonic rites will be at the Knoxville cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be John Tyson, Jodie Storms, Carl Collins, Glen Rainey, Billy Bush, Kenneth Cash, Glen Hickey, and Doc Ramsey.

Daniel R. Spradlin

Daniel Richard Spradlin, 75, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at his home.
He was retired, World War II Army veteran, son of the late Daniel H. and Lucile Hudson Spradlin, and was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Survivors are his widow, Irene Rollins Spradlin; one daughter, Susan Mayer of Aston, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Vernon Long officiating.
Active pallbearers were Rick Spradlin, Darrell Garlock, Dale Garlock, Burl McCartney, Daniel Spradlin, and Elliot Garlock.
Honorary pallbearers were Gervis McCartney and Larry Mayer.

James M. Parker Sr.

James M. Parker Sr., 74, of Hartman died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville.
He was a son of the late Albert M. and Roxie Smith Parker, machine shop retiree, Methodist, World War II Army veteran, and was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Beatrice Parker; and one sister, Faye Green.
Survivors are two daughters, Glenda Diane Parker of the home and Iva Joann Ferguson of Hartman; two sons, Gerald Parker and James M. Parker Jr., both of Hartman; four sisters, Evelena Lane of Russellville, Dorothy Scarberry of Coal Hill, Hilda Ross of Oklahoma, and Georgia Luncford of Utah; four brothers, Leroy Parker and Ted Parker, both of California, Don Parker of Coal Hill and Dane Parker of Hartman; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Hartman Methodist Church with Rev. Larry King officiating.
Burial was in the Hess cemetery at Coal Hill with military honors. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Donnie Scarberry, Billy Scarberry, Brian Syfert, Danny East, Mike Young and Steve Estep.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Estep and Steve Weathers.

Lee D. Temple

Lee Douglas Temple, 90, of Fort Smith, brother-in-law of John Taylor of Clarksville, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, in Fort Smith.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean Temple.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Kay Gordon of Apline, Texas, and Barbara Graves of Tulsa, Okla.; and one sister-in-law, Mary McCain of Pleasant Hill, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial will be at the U. S. National cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Nicolas E. Willis

Nicolas Elijah Willis, seven-day-old son of Robert Anthony and Anna May Smith Willis of Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Springfield, Mo.
Other survivors are twin brother, Nathan Elisha Willis; grandparents, George and Jeannett Willis of Lamar and Willie and Shelly Smith of Clarksville; great-grandparents, Denver and Violet Willis of Batson and Gene and Juanita Hardin of Clarksville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, at the Sherrellville cemetery at Batson with Rev. Walter Brashear officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Nathan E. Willis

Nathan Elisha Willis, 11-day-old son of Robert Anthony and Anna May Smith Willis of Springfield, Mo., died Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by twin brother, Nicolas Elijah Willis, on July 10, 2002.
Other survivors are grandparents George and Jeannett Willis of Lamar and Willie and Shelly Smith of Clarksville; great-grandparents, Denver and Violet Willis of Batson and Gene and Juanita Hardin of Clarksville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Sherrellville cemetery at Batson with Rev. Walter Brashear officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Olen Payne

Olen Payne, 80, of Danville, whose son and daughter-in-law, John Robert and Brenda Payne, reside in Clarksville, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.
He was a native of Stafford in Yell County and son of the late Delmer and Cora Ann White Payne. He retired after 24 years as the Yell County Tax Assessor, was the Yell County veteran service officer for 30-plus years, member of the Danville Lions Club for 39 years, the Yell County Equalization Board, the United Methodist Church for 39 years and was past chairman of the administrative board and a former Sunday school teacher. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, member of Fisher-Law VFW Post 8525 in Plainview, a 33rd degree Mason, member of Danville Lodge No. 41 and Christian Lodge No. 394 in Belleville, served as past district deputy grand master and in 1999 was the recipient of the Grand Lodge Medal of Honor which is given to only one member each year. He was past patron of the Danville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Council Oaks Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, and the River Valley York Rite Bodies, and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Odell Payne, Leemon Payne, C. J. Payne, and William Hoyt Payne; and one granddaughter, Cynthia Payne.
Survivors include his widow, Etta Vee Laster Payne; one other son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and JoAnn Payne of Belleville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Ronnie Buckner of Greenwood and Linda and Rodney Parham of Branson, Mo.; one brother, Thurman Payne of Belleville; one sister, Ann Morris of Fayetteville; mother-in-law, Neva Laster of Danville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. David Hawkins officiating.
Burial was in Russell cemetery with Masonic rites and full military honors by Boyce-Woods Post 3141. Arrangements were under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
Active pallbearers were James Rogers, Lance Wilkins, Joe Monroe, Tommy May, Pledger Ball, Brad Payne, Jamie Payne, and Joey Payne.
Honorary pallbearers were Mason and VFW members.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 729, Danville, AR 72833.
