Roger Fowler

Roger Fowler, 68, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at his home in Coffeyville, Kan., where he had resided since 1969.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late State Howard and Virgie Lee Thomas Fowler, attended the local school system, former employee of Pelt Construction Company, Yarbrough Peach Orchards, Clarksville Shoe Plant, and Rural Electric Association. In 1964, he began employment for Missouri-Pacific Railroad and retired in 1995 as a maintenance laborer and machine operator. He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Hamilton.
He was a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge of Hartman, River Valley Chapter No. 49 R.A.M., OSIRIS No. 3 Council, Juaqus Demolay Commandry No. 3, Scottish Rite Consistory of Ft, Scott, a 32nd degree Mason, Mirza Temple Shrine of Pittsburg, Kan., and was involved with fund-raising for the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital.
Survivors are his widow, Mary Ruth Rush Fowler; and one brother, Tom Fowler of Hartman.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel with burial to follow at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Union Grove cemetery near Clarksville. Rev. James Wright of Lewark Church of God will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Rosella B. Hanna

Rosella Brown Hanna, 68, of Pueblo, Colo., sister of Sue Van Riper of Hartman, died Dec. 26, 2002, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Frank Leslie and Willie Henderson Brown, widow of Arthur N. Hanna, a cook, and was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Carter; and four brothers, Junior Brown, Omer Brown, Tom Brown, and Jerald Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Maxwell of Tulsa, Okla., and Rose Ellen Taylor of Vera, Okla.; two sons, Brent Hanna and Bernie Hanna, both of Pueblo, Colo.; two stepsons, Cyril Hanna and James Robert Hanna, both of Collinsville, Okla.; two other sisters, Beatrice Higdon of Pryor, Okla., and Pat Vest of Claremore, Okla.; ten grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Gary Blair officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Taylor, Brian Taylor, Gene Taylor, Cody Taylor, Robert Higdon and Billy Ray Ford.

Roy J. Hughes

Roy J. Hughes, 79, of Lamar died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at his home.
He was retired from the U. S. Army, son of the late Richard Clinton and Kalma May Borham Hughes, and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his widow, Nettie Fay Williams Hughes; one daughter, Linda Sue Sabo of South Carolina; two sons, Billy Ray Hughes of Lamar and James Dale Hughes of Illinois; one sister, Polly Mouser of Illinois; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Leo Villines officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Terry Hughes, Gene Williams, J. L. Holman, Bryan Fetters, Christopher Hughes, and Bob Gilmer.
Honorary pallbearer was Bob Tildon.

Sandra Kay Flisher

Sandra Kay Flisher, 58, of Hartman died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at her home.
She was a native of Des Moines, Iowa.
Survivors are her husband, Eugene Flisher; two daughters, Lesa Lathrop of Springdale and Monica Dovel of Des Moines, Iowa; one son, Robert Flisher of Des Moines, Iowa; parents, Robert and Alvina Hokanson of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers, Alan Hokanson and Danny Hokanson, both of Des Moines, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
A family memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Hardwicke Funeral Home. The body was cremated.

Argie W. Gould

Argie Wayne Gould, 68, of Iowa Park, Texas, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Argie McKinley and Lillie Mae Smith Gould, retired U. S. Air Force flight mechanic, and spent several years in the car rental business. He was preceded in death by one sister, Syble Bailey.
Survivors include his widow, JoAnn Burns Gould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and James McLemore and Sandy and Randy Willingham, all of Iowa Park, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Argie Keith and Cheryll Gould of Dean, Texas, and George Allen and Rachelle Gould of Iowa Park, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jo and Hank Beck of Phoenix, Ariz., and Fern and Lyall Porter of Clarksville; and 13 grandchildren, Dena Brown, Brandon McLemore and wife Nicola, Brandy McLemore, Ashley Gould, Josh Simpkins, Chad Gould, Zackary Gould, Jacob Gould, Jason Willingham, Candice Wise and husband, Malcolm, Cheryl Gould, Jordan Gould and Devon Gould.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Pacific Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Iowa Park, Texas, with Rev. John Fields officiating.
Burial was in Highland cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park, Texas.
Pallbearers were Argie Keith Gould, George Allen Gould, James McLemore, Brandon McLemore, Randy Willingham, Russell Willingham, Jason Willingham, and Jack Kerr.
Memorials may be made to Pacific Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 North Pacific Avenue, Iowa Park, TX 76367.

Billy E. Ramsey

Billy Eugene Ramsey, 79, of Clarksville died Friday, April 18, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
Survivors are his widow, Florence Ramsey; three daughters, Jackie Rice of Russellville, Kathy Ramsey of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Susan Crossman of Oceanside, Calif.; one son, Tom Ramsey of Clarksville; and three grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Billie Ruth Skidgel

Billie Ruth Skidgel, a native of Coal Hill, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Roseville, Calif.
She had resided in the Citrus Heights and Sacramento, Calif., areas for the past 54 years, was owner and operator of Zell's Cafe in Roseville, Calif., for many years, and the widow of Gene Skidgel.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Nina Skidgel, Billie Jean Skidgel, and Debbie and Skip Barnard; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Scott, Gregory, Eric, Shawn, Squeaks, and Stefani; and 14 great-grandchildren, Brandi, Johnathon, Timothy, Alex, Danielle, Nicolas, Kristopher, Briannah, Bradley, Kayla, Rebecca, Jessica, Jordan and Ryan.
The Celebration of Life service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses in Roseville, Calif. A private burial service followed.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Don Brown

Don Brown, 91, of Clarksville died Monday, April 21, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late Thomas Eskew and Anna Lee Maudie Killough Brown, graduate of Clarksville High School, member of First Baptist Church and Clarksville Country Club, lifetime member of the Carpenter's Union, retired in 1971 from Pacific Acoustics in Los Angeles, Calif., after 20 years of service as general superintendent. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Mosses Brown.
Survivors include his widow, Bernice Brown; one daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Caroline Lindner of Portland, Ore.; one stepson and two stepdaughters-in-law, Joe and Judy Johnston of Clarksville and Linda Johnston of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Cherry Street Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Usery officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Airy cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Jones, David Jones, Josh Johnston, Steve Morgan, Danny Leeds, and Bruce Wilson.

E. A. Williams

E. A. (Pete) Williams, 77, of Chouteau, Okla., died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Claremore, Okla.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Edd and Florence Gossett Williams, grew up and attended Gravel Hill School, and joined the CC camps at Ozone and in Minnesota. He then served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He hit the Normandy Beach three days after the invasion, then went across France with the 90th Infantry to near the German border where he was wounded for the fifth time. He was awarded three Oak Leaf Clusters and two Purple Hearts. He was hit by a fifty-caliber bullet that took out his right lung resulting in his being sent to a hospital in England before spending 11 months at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV and was preceded in death by three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors are his widow, Augusta E. Williams; four sons and daughters-in-law, Winfred and Pamela Williams of Tulsa, Okla., John R. and Mary Ann Williams of Inola, Okla., Floyd Dewayne and Lenora Williams of Coweta, Okla., and Wilburn L. and Theresa Williams of Locust Grove, Okla.; two brothers, Kenneth Williams of New Boston, Texas, and Garland Williams of Ozark; three sisters, Josie Horton of Coal Hill, Jenny McAnally of Charleston, and Ruby Tschetter of Fort Smith; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Key Funeral Chapel in Chouteau, Okla., with Rev. Ray Gwartney officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Ft. Gibson National cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla.
