Rev. O. D. Peters

Rev. Orr Davis (O. D.) Peters, 91, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003.
He was a native of the Springhill Community in Johnson County, graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in English before graduating with honors from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Rev. Peters served in an active capacity as an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church for 65 years. He served churches in Clarksville, Farmington, Hackett, Alma, Greenwood, Springhill, Texas, Charleston, Augusta, Dardanelle, Piggott, Pea Ridge, and Little Rock at Capitol View United Methodist Church and as associate minister at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church from 1965 until his retirement in 1995 and then as pastor emeritus until his death. He was also chairman of the board of pensions of the North Arkansas Conference, former chairman of the television, radio and films commission and former member of the board of ministry of Little Rock Conference.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Cline Peters; and one daughter, Margaret Peters Wilson.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George and Diane Peters; one grandson, George Peters Jr. and wife, Maria Elena; and one great-grandson, George Edwards Angel Peters, all of Little Rock.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Victor Nixon and Rev. Lynn Lindsey officiating.
Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.

Steve A. Stuckey Jr.

Steven Alan Stuckey Jr., 21, of London died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident near Lamar.
He was a horse trainer and a member of the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include his widow, Sunshine Cheryl Hampton Stuckey; two sons, Dustin Zachary Stuckey and Casey Jay Stuckey, both of Tucson, Ariz.; parents, Steven Alan Stuckey Sr. of Springtown, Texas, and Brenda Jean Meronek of Tucson, Ariz.; grandparents, Robert and Rita Meronek of Tucson, Ariz., and Jim and Betty Jenkins of Midland, Texas; and two brothers, Robert Harrison and Jerry Harrison, both of Tucson, Ariz.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Mt. Vernon cemetery with Rev. Mike Payne officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Piper, Rick Otto, Cameron Moss, Will Nelson, J. L. Holman, and Lon Rosenjack.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Harrison and Jerry Harrison.

Tome Lorene Henry

Tome Lorene Henry, 68, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Hartsell and Gladys Hardgrave Ingram, widow of Don Henry, and was employed by the state of California as a job coordinator for several years. She was preceded in death by one son, Russell Younger.
Survivors are one daughter, Randy Rhamy of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; four sisters, Janice Medeiros of Clarksville, Janelle Flynn of Livermore, Calif., Margie Eddlemon of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Cordia Weems of North Highlands, Calif.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robbie Jackson and Rev. Larry Horne officiating. The body was cremated.

Walter Spanke

Walter Spanke, 88, of Tulsa, Okla., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in a Tulsa hospital.
A native of Hartman, he was a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Spanke, graduate of Hartman High School, Navy veteran and was employed in family businesses in Johnson County prior to being an employee of McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and two grandchildren, Chris Davis and Christian Spanke.
Survivors include his widow, Marian Spanke; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jutta Spanke of Wheaton, Ill.; one daughter, Geri Walters of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Clara Knoedel and Florine Rinke, both of Clarksville; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Spanke of Clarksville; and two grandchildren, Kathie Davis and Jeff Davis, both of Tulsa, Okla.
Rosary was held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Moore-Eastlawn Funeral Home in Tulsa, Okla. Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Saint Pius X Church in Tulsa, Okla., followed by burial in Floral Haven cemetery in Tulsa, Okla.

Harold E. Ross

Harold E. Ross, 81, of Grass Valley, Calif., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at a Grass Valley convalescent hospital.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Charles E. and Corina Shatwell Ross, and a graduate of Lamar High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1942, trained at Marshalls Island in aircraft maintenance and served for 23 years in Okinawa, Japan, Korea and Vietnam before retiring in 1968. He was later employed by Lockheed and taught aircraft maintenance for six and one-half years in Saudia Arabia. He also taught at the Air Force Flight Test Center in El Centro and was involved in the theory and thesis of jet engines for eight years at Moffett Field in Mountain View. He was a marksman in pistols and rifles, a rancher in Grass Valley, and was preceded in death by one daughter.
Survivors include his widow, Genia Pennington Bajorat Ross; one son, Wayne E. Ross of Kona, Hawaii; and one grandson, Anthony Clark.
Graveside and military services were held at the Loney-Sanford Ranch cemetery in Penn Valley followed by services and reception at the Church of Christ in Grass Valley, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ in Grass Valley, Calif.

Joey Lee Fowler

Joey Lee Fowler, 20, of Hartman died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Perrytown, Texas, attended Westside High School where he was active in sports, and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, John W. Fowler and Sheila Ragsdale, both of Hartman; paternal grandparents, Steve and Zelma Stephan of Hartman; maternal grandparents, Laura Kelley of Hunt and Bill Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Amber Koop of Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers, Jeremy Delrio and Joshua Delrio, both of Clarksville, and Jay Fowler of Hartman; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Burnett King officiating.
Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Jeremy Delrio, Joshua Delrio, Jay Fowler, Brandon Southard, Allen Gordon, and Terrance Davenport.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Lingar, Jeff Highfill, Boone Conquest, and Trevor Flynn.

Jacob Warren Potts

Jacob Warren Potts, 74, of Ozark, father of Roger Rogers of Lamar, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in an area nursing home.
He was a retired International Paper Company employee and son of the late Warren C. and Blanche Potts.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Looper and Karen Jenkins, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dixie Phillips of Van Buren; two other sons, Brian Rogers of Alma and Jacob Potts II of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Sherrellville cemetery in Johnson County under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Mildred O. Tolbert

Mildred Ogilvie Tolbert, 90, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Roland and Nora Bean Ogilvie, grew up in the Harmony-Lone Pine Community, attended school at Lone Pine, Harmony, Clarksville High where she was an honor graduate of the class of 1931, and the University of the Ozarks, taught school at Ozone for two years and worked in many of the family businesses in Clarksville during her almost 68 years of marriage.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Crape Myrtle Garden Club and a charter member of the Johnson County Historical Society. She was the widow of Russell Tolbert, and was preceded in death by one brother, Carmine Ogilvie; and three sisters, Lucille Ogilvie, Irene Ogilvie and Onita Ogilvie McClendon.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Burni Tolbert of North Little Rock and George and Wanda Tolbert of Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren and spouses, Cheryl and Billy Kenner of Knoxville, Brian and Kelly Tolbert of Little Rock, Thad and Connie Tolbert of Birmingham, Ala., and Paige and Steve Holleman of North Richland Hills, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton and Caitlin Kenner, Ben Bradley, Blaik Ziegler, Sam Holleman, and Owen and Seth Tolbert; one sister-in-law, Opal Tolbert; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, and funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Hardwicke Funeral Home with Burley King officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Hank Sparks, E. L. Jacobs, Philip Taylor, Don Peters, Gerald Peeples and Don Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert C. Baskin, Don Brown, Virgil Knight, Ira Jones, Gran Reynolds, Flynn Kinman, and Edd Young.

Pearl Martin

Pearl Martin, 96, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville.
She was a former resident of Lamar and was preceded in death by her husbands, C. C. Reeves and W. N. Martin; and three sons, Edward Reeves, Bert Reeves, and Don Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Reeves of Lincoln and J. T. Reeves of Porter, Okla.; one daughter, Marilyn Martin Avilla of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsons, Paul Martin of Clarksville and Harlis Martin of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Jewell Reeves of Farmington; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Baptist Church in Lincoln with burial in Dutch Mills cemetery.
