Rhona G. Kennedy

Rhona Galbraith Kennedy, 88, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at her home.
She was a former resident of Little Rock, daughter of the late Daniel Cleveland and Lucy Britt Galbraith, widow of Harry M. Kennedy, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Farris McGough and Eliese Blue; and one brother, Doyle Galbraith.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Lednisky of Clarksville and Mattie Chenault of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, W. J. Galbraith of El Dorado and James Galbraith of Abita Springs, La.; one sister-in-law, Joy Galbraith of North Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Roller-Owens Chapel in North Little Rock with Rev. Billy Usery officiating. Private burial was in the National cemetery at Little Rock.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Ronnie Dale Pitts

Ronnie Dale Pitts, 59, of Oark died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in Rogers.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Orvil and Vanah Valaria Smiley Pitts, retired truck driver, and Army veteran having served two terms in Vietnam.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Sue Peterson of Shell Knob, Mo., and Belinda A. Pitts of Bentonville; one son, Roney Alex Pitts of Springdale; four brothers, Orvil J. Pitts of Clarksville, Roy Pitts of Springdale, and Barney Pitts and Billy Pitts, both of Oark; and nine grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Stillwell cemetery with Rev. Linda Tate officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Sharon Rose Childers

Sharon Rose Childers, 62, of Alexander died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Garland E. and Mary Tolbert Woodard, widow of John Ray Childers, attended Clarksville Schools and Meadowview Missionary Baptist Church at Malvern, and was employed at Power Technology as an electronic technician.
She is survived by one daughter, Teri Crofford of Benton; one son, Steve Childers of Malvern; and four grandchildren, Brittany Crofford of Benton, and Krista Childers, Kara Childers and Drew Childers, all of Malvern.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Etheridge officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Johnston, Jack Phillips, James Childers, Kenneth Childers, Ray Copeland, and Roy Richardson.

Vivian C. Rowbotham

Vivian Cook Rowbotham, 87, of Lamar died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. and Clara Etta Pearson Cook, widow of Woodrow L. Rowbotham, former resident of Mablevale, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd Cook, Clyde Cook and W. C. Cook; and three sisters, Analee Cook, Winnie Dufeck, and Bonnie Havener.
She is survived by one brother, Ray Cook of Sikeston, Mo.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.

Jewell Shelby

Jewell Shelby, 92, a native of Clarksville and longtime resident of Crestline and San Bernardino, Calif., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Redlands Community Hospital.
She was a hairdresser for 20 years, member of Mentone Church of Christian Love, accomplished painter recognized by curators of several museums, and the widow of Woodye Shelby.
She is survived by one sister, Jean McNabb of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, with services at 11 a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino, Calif. Graveside services will be at Riverside National cemetery.

Albert Dewey Gaines

Albert Dewey Gaines, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003.
He was a native of Linnville, son of the late Art and Viola Wyers Gaines, farmer, retired supervisor of Cargill in Ozark, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Faye, Ray and Jay; and four sisters, Minnie, Edna, Laura and Bertha.
Survivors include his widow, Alta Mae Phillips Gaines; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Carter of Ozark and Reba and Loy Bailey of Springdale; one son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Angel Gaines of Gravette; seven grandchildren, Mark Bailey, Brooke Bailey, Christopher Carter, Samuel Carter, Jennifer Ellis, Desire Browning and Amy Browning; one great-granddaughter, Emily Ellis; and one brother, Paul Gaines of Weatherford, Okla.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Shaffer Funeral Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Alvin Hunter and Charles Carter officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers will be David Wyers, James Carter, Mark Bailey, Chris Carter, Sam Carter, Raymond Allen, Loy Bailey, and Charles Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Harris, Gordon Bowen, Ben Woolsey, Donald Walls and Billy Parker.
Memorials may be made to the Williams cemetery Association, 1317 County Road 4021, Ozark, AR 72949 or Liberty Hill cemetery Association.

Amy Oglesby

Amy Porter Trotter Oglesby, 100, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, La.
A daughter of the late J. R. and Ella King Porter, she was a native and 89-year resident of the Harmony Community but had resided with her daughter in Louisiana for the past 11 years. She was a longtime member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon, elder and organist, teacher in the Clarksville school system for 36 years, member of the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association and University Women's Study Club, and a widow of C. A. (Check) Trotter and Jack Oglesby. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Trotter Johnson; and two brothers, Remmel and Hall Porter.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Wayne Benbow of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandsons and spouses, Shawn and Jill Benbow of Baton Rouge, La., and Michael and Sharon Benbow of Portland, Ore.; and four great-grandchildren, Leigh Ann and Travis Benbow of Baton Rouge, La., and McKenna and Garrett Benbow of Portland, Ore.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Rail and Rev. William Woodard officiating.
Burial was in Harmony cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Shawn Benbow, Michael Benbow, Ronald Laster, Abe Laster Jr., Bill Porter and Marty Wilkins.
Memorials may be made to the Harmony Presbyterian Church, % Reba Laster, 12211 Highway 164, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Floyd E. Jennings

Floyd Eugene Jennings, 78, of Hartman died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a native of Harrisburg, son of the late James Fred and Zora Bell Burris, retired construction employee and commercial fisherman, and was preceded in death by one daughter; one son; and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his widow, Martha Jennings; one daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Roy McCaslin of Davenport, Iowa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Henryetta Jennings and Mark and Leslie Jennings, all of Clarksville; four sisters, Jeanice Combs of Lake City, Lavon Clark of Jonesboro, Bernice Martin of Perryville, and Lynn Ealkins of Florida; two brothers, J. F. Jennings of Jones-
boro and Wayne Jennings of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Christopher Jennings of Ozark and Martha Jennings of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren, Kieran Jennings and Trista Jennings, both of Ozark; and two step grandchildren, Kelsey and Joshua McCaslin of Chandler, Okla.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at West Mount Zion cemetery with Rev. Dennis Reynolds officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Gladys Bell Griffith

Gladys Bell Reaves Griffith, 73, of Clarksville, formerly of Coal Hill, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a former Singer Company and Tyson Foods employee, member of Free Jesus Name Church in Coal Hill, daughter of the late Robert and Lilly May Jackson Reaves Sr., and widow of Harley Cecil Griffith.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Latricia and Junior Morgan and Judy and Roy Huntsman, all of Coal Hill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Janie Griffith, Bobby and Connie Griffith, and Johnny and Donna Griffith, all of Coal Hill; four sisters, Dorothy Milliam of Ward, Ruby Wilson and Jewel Kyzer, both of Jacksonville, and Rachael Proctor of Gillette; four brothers, George Reaves of Jacksonville, Robert Reaves of Russellville, Charlie Reaves of Houston, Texas, and Alvin Reaves of Hazen; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. David Zeiler and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Griffith, Jerrod Griffith, John Griffith, Joey Griffith, Nathan Griffith, Scott Green, Buddy Morgan, Dondi Elkins, and Doug Nichols.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
