James C. Brooks Sr.
James Collins Brooks Sr., 73, of Clarksville died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002.
He was a son of the late Earl Harris and Mattie Marguerite Sherrill Brooks, 1948 graduate of Shawnee High School in Joiner, and served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1950.
He was employed in the power generation industry spanning over a 40-year plus period and earning two professional engineers' licenses in instrumentation and electrical engineering. He began with Arkansas Power and Light where he was employed for several utilities over a period of a few years. While at Bechtel Power Corporation, he was an engineering and construction manager and helped launch many of the first nuclear power plants in the country such as Trojan and Peach Bottom nuclear plants. He was also the project field engineer for Arkansas Nuclear One. After 17 years with Bechtel, he began a consulting business in Clarksville.
Survivors include his widow of 54 years, Doris Erma Dean Drewry Brooks; five children and spouses, Kay and A. B. Beasley of Painesville, Ohio, James C. and Nadine Houston Brooks Jr. of Greenwood, Lynn Brooks of Clarksville, Charles D. and Cynthia McCague Brooks of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Michael D. Brooks of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jack Cline, Robert Ed Farris, Earl Hayes, David McKnight, Jim Sherrill, and John Strohaker.

Jobyna Boggs
Jobyna Boggs, 76, of Russellville died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Johnie and Belle Spicer Williams, widow of Kenneth Boggs, member of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Mason Lee Haze Cowan; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, Johnie Boggs of Russellville; two grandchildren, Nichole and Cory Boggs; two great-grandchildren, C. J. Cowan and Austin Cowan; one brother, Wilson Williams of Fort Smith; two sisters, Jewel Holloway of Coal Hill and Janice Woods of Santa Ana, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and burial were Saturday, Jan. 4, at Bowden cemetery at Pottsville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Kirk Josef Anderson
Kirk Josef Anderson, two-day-old son of Josef and Amber Anderson, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Other survivors include siblings, Tenessa and Tanner Anderson; maternal grandparents, Robert Crawford of Clarksville and Stella Crawford of Hartman; paternal grandparents, Kirk and Elfrieda Anderson of Knoxville; and paternal great-grandparents, Josef and Maria Buhajla of Knoxville.
Graveside services and burial were at the Jasper cemetery with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Naomi Elkins Lamar
Naomi Elkins Lamar of Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center of Olathe, Kan.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Clyde Chester and Lou King Elkins, member of Colonial Presbyterian Church of Kansas City, Mo., for 40 years, member of the GOP in Kansas City, Mo., for many years, former employee of the Kansas City Star, retired employee of Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Mo., and was preceded in death by one brother, Ira Elkins; one sister, Lorena Elkins; and one nephew, Jerry Elkins.
Survivors include two nephews, Marvin Elkins of Louisville, Ky., and Carl Elkins of Olathe, Kan.; and five great-nieces.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Woodard officiating.
Burial was in Harmony cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Carl Elkins, Marvin Elkins, Peter Proctor, Roy Elkins, Kenny Elkins, and Harold Hyden.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo.
Opal A. Campbell
Opal A. Campbell, 80, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a Methodist, daughter of the late John Washington and Maudie May Spencer Turner, widow of Clarence Campbell, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Kimbriel.
Survivors are two daughters and one son-in-law, Jerry and Kyle King of Clarksville and Maudie Armstrong of Fort Smith; three sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Sheryl Hampton of Fort Smith, Jim Campbell of Clarksville and Wayne Campbell of Little Rock; one brother, J. W. Turner of Springdale; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Campbell, Aaron Kimbriel, Scott Campbell, Benjamin King, Lance Armstrong, Michael Kimbriel, and Spencer Campbell.
Polly A. Warren
Polly A. Warren, 77, of London died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at her home.
She was a retired Singer Company employee, daughter of the late George W. and Anna Mae Turner Boling, widow of Vernon Potsey Warren, and was preceded in death by one son, Larry Eugene Warren; and one grandson, Joshua Warren.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Fred Parker of London; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Cecilene Sams of Ashdown, Gerrel and Helen Warren of London, and Donnie and Linda Warren of Fort Smith; three brothers, George W. Boling Jr. of Wyoming, Thomas Boling of Fallsville, and Lester Boling of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Birge and Rev. William Phelps officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Carl Sams, Ronnie Boling, Jeff Gilbert, Fred Parker, Ernie Boling, and Chris Sanderson.
Albert Paul Price Sr.
Albert Paul Price Sr., 88, of Bella Vista died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at his home.
He was a former resident of Clarksville and North Little Rock, son of the late Kenneth Earl and Myrtle Marie Kuster Price, member of Clarksville First Baptist Church, served as an officer in the United States Navy for two years, civil engineer for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for 36 years, em-
ployee of the North Little Rock School District for 10 years, and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mae Firestone Price; and one sister, Marie Kolb.
Survivors include one daughter, Sally Price Felkner of Clarksville; one son, Albert Paul Price Jr. of Bella Vista; one sister, Louise Divine of Joplin, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Randy Gresham, Dr. Jack Bridgman, and Rev. Dennis Coop officiating. Graveside services and burial followed at 3 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Don Divine, Philip Becker, Chris Kotter, and Daniel Becker.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Seekers Sunday School Class of Bella Vista and the Trail Blazers Sunday School Class of Clarksville.
Almeta F. Yerby
Almeta F. Yerby, 72, of Van Buren died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late C. O. (Bug) and Mamie Dougan Blackard, 1949 graduate of Hartman High School, 1953 graduate of the University of the Ozarks, retired music teacher for the Van Buren School System, member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Rex Yerby; two daughters, Lisa Darden of Van Buren and Leah Harger of Prairie Grove; three sons, Lance Yerby, Sam Yerby and Vince Yerby, all of Van Buren; five sisters, Juanita Ehren and Judy Hardgrave, both of Clarksville, Rita Daniel of Hot Springs, Ann Dorman of Gruver, Texas, and Phyllis Sparks of New Boston, Texas; two brothers, C. O. Blackard and Pat Blackard, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Don Swaim, Bill Swaim, Scott Smith, Lance Yerby, Vince Yerby, and Greg Harger.
Claude Leroy Moye
Claude Leroy Moye, 84, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Robert Lee Moye Jr. and Martha May Shaft Moye De Sander, newspaper distributor for the Johnson County Graphic and other papers, and attended Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God in Clarksville.
He is survived by nieces and nephews including Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Moye III of Magnum, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Albert George Moye, Mary Sue Rankin, Gloria Kae and Mark Campbell, Barbara Ann and Terry W. Campbell, Dawn Looper Lyon, Judge Lyon, David Allen Looper and Connie Looper, all of Lexington, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Moye of Highland, Calif., Le Anne Woolard of Clarksville, Melinda, Mindy and Jerry Scott, Erika Adams, Brittney Rankin, Teresa Woods, Lisa Ortega, and Carolyn Carter, all of North Carolina, Albert George Moye of Utah, Georgina Ivey of Texas, James and Kenneth Cone of California; great-nieces and great-nephews, George, Wesley, Charles, Martha and Katrina Moye, all of Arkansas; and numerous great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great nieces, and great-great-great nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Perry and William Cotton.
