Joe Belt
Joe Belt, 89, of Van Buren died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Van Buren. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Lola Belt.
He is survived by a son, Jessie Ray Hobbs of Tehachapi, Calif.; a sister, Emma Blasingame of Mulberry; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were William, Jackie, Mark, Jason, Nathan and Joel Boen and Jeff and Steven Black.

Rev. Frankie Pollard
DYER - The Rev. Frankie D. Pollard, 71, of Dyer died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired minister with Assembly of God in Oklahoma and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothey; two daughters, Nancy Beckham of Lewisville, Texas, and Karrie Retherford of Buena Vista, Colo.; two sons, Robin Pollard of Anadarko, Okla., and Dale Pollard of Dyer; four sisters, Sylvia Hawhee and Jannete Pollard, both of Bedford, Iowa, Joan Cox of Kansas City, Mo., and Jean Richmond of Hazen; a brother, Wayne Pollard of Vilonia; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Feb. 7 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Dyer Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers were Dale and Robin Pollard, Tim, Brian and Jeremy Beckham and Darrell Retherford.

Hubeart Kidd
Hubeart H. “Hub” Kidd, 72, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at a local hospital. He attended the Faith Christian Church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include four sisters, Ethel Watson of Eric, Okla., Thelma Miller of Lavaca, Velma Stockton of Alma and Ila Jones of Mountainburg; three brothers, Arlin Kidd of Eric, Okla., J.T. Kidd of Altus, Okla., and Finis Kidd of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 8 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Bolton Cemetery north of Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were nephews.

Nathaniel Perry
Nathaniel “Sandy” Perry, 73, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and attended Grace James School in Clarksville.
He is survived by three daughters, Betty Hood of Hot Springs and Debra Okoro and Peggy Morgan, both of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four sons, Roy and Gary Perry, both of Clarksville, Ernest Perry of Tulsa and Lonnie Perry of Van Buren; a sister, Juanita May of Fort Smith; a brother, Joe Perry Sr. of Clarksville; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 8 at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville.
Pallbearers were William Cotton, Victor, Lionel, Eric, Marcus and Gary Perry Jr. and Jonathan and Maylon White.

Arthur Moore
Arthur “Waddy” Moore, 69, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Van Buren, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in a Lakeland Hospital. He was a business owner and an Assembly of God minister who pastored churches in South Carolina and Florida. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eugene and Ruth Moore; two brothers, Harold and Norman Moore and one sister, Sue Seabold.
He is survived by his wife, Jo; two daughters, Debra Hayes of Lakeland and Sheila Hill of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, Vernon Moore of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 7 at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home in Lakeland.

Verna White
Verna Sue White, 63, of Lavaca died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Lavaca, a retired licensed practical nurse and retired employee of Dale Crampton Roofing Company. She was the widow of Emmett White.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Driver of RoseClare, Ill.; a son, Bryan White of Lavaca; three stepdaughters, Bettye Satterfield of Van Buren, Carol Graham of Fort Smith and Treva McGuire of Lavaca; three stepsons, Rodney White of Lavaca, Donald White of Charleston and James White of Alma; two brothers, Joe Jones of Fort Smith and Gene Jones of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren, 24 step-grandchildren, 26 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 6 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Eubanks Cemetery in Cecil.
Pallbearers were Mitch and Mark White, Ted Short, Chip Moore, Cledis Evans and Shawn Buckner.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 11500 N. Rodney Parham, Suite 19-20, Little Rock, AR 72212.

Leland Davis
Leland Rex Davis, 41, of Booneville died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at his home. He was a timber worker and a member of Sugar Grove Pentecostal Church.
Graveside service was held Feb. 7 at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Sugar Grove under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Myna; three daughters, Shavonne Franklin of Booneville, Tamara and Valerie Davis, both of California; five sons, Wesley Hester, John and Carol Davis, all of Booneville, and William and Leland Davis II, both of California; a stepdaughter, Melissa Catlett of Booneville; a stepson, Billy Catlett of Booneville; his mother Angie Webb and stepfather, Richard Webb of Booneville; a sister, Erda Moss of Booneville; two stepsisters, Threasa Howard and Joy Terry, both of Van Buren; a half brother, Howard Davis of California; two stepbrothers, Stewart Webb of California and Steve Webb of Booneville; and nine grandchildren.

Eva Rogers
Eva Rogers, 27, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; three daughters, Desiree Rogers, Kelsey Rogers and Lindsey Rogers, all of the home; a son, Dakota Rogers of the home; her mother, Rachel Douglas of Rudy; her grandmother, Patricia Newman of Fort Smith; and five brothers, Stephen Douglas, Daniel Douglas, Catlin Douglas, Adam Douglas and Jessie Douglas, all of Rudy.
Funeral service was held Feb. 24 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Rosales, Ronald Seymour, Charles Rogers Jr., Billy Rogers Jr., Roy Rogers Jr., and Jamey Burnett.

Bessie Gulley
Bessie Bell Gulley, 84, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and the widow of Roy Gulley.
Funeral service was held Feb. 24 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Sarah Grove Cemetery in Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Eddy of Van Buren, Jo Thompson of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Francis Welch of Stockton, Calif.; a son, Roy Gulley of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Opal Richmond
Opal Gibbs Richmond, 88, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Van Buren. She was born May 28, 1914, in Crawford County. She was a homemaker and of the Assembly of God faith. She was the widow of Joe Richmond.
She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Brown of Van Buren and Mary Dutton of Rudy; a son, Jimmy Richmond of Evansville; a sister, Betty Cox of Gentry; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 24 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Stevie Dufresne, Vestal Woods, Rickey Reichert, George Brown, Charles Dutton and Glen Van Dagriff.

Timothy Nelson
Timothy C. Nelson, 36, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at a local hospital. He was disabled.
Survivors include his fiancee, Becky Dodd of Van Buren; one daughter, Ranie Nelson of Van Buren; one son, Coty Nelson of Fort Smith; his parents, Roy and Thomasine Nelson of Mountainburg; two sisters, Tonya Kerry of Oklahoma and Tammie Jones of Alabama; five brothers, Dustin Nelson of Oklahoma, Tony Nelson of Poteau, Tracy Nelson and Darrell Boyd, both of Van Buren, and Billy Nelson of Fort Smith; and his grandparents, Garland and Ada Marshall of Bethany, Okla.
Funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Mount McCurry Cemetery near Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were his father and brothers.

Billy Allison
Billy Clay Allison, 69, of Roland died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Eufaula, Okla. He was a retired self-employed salesman and of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Church of Christ in Roland with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Brenda Watson of Van Buren and Linda Hannon of Fort Smith; two sons, Robert Allison of Van Buren and Billy Allison of Rogers; two stepsons, Danny Turner of Van Buren and Richard Turner of Roland; a sister, June Bay of Crescent, Okla.; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.

Willis Poole
Willis Poole, 84, of Greenwood died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired owner of Poole Laundry in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice; three sons, Jerry Poole of Greenwod, Roy Poole of Kibler and Harold Poole of Winter Haven, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Marie Dunn
Marie Mullens Dunn, 85, of Patterson Calif., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Modesto. The native of Rudy was a homemaker and member of the Pentecostal Church in Grayson and Family Christian Center in Patterson. She was the widow of the Rev. Walter Dunn.
Survivors include one son, Walter R. Dunn Jr. of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Noveline Loyd and Pattie Dunn, both of Patterson and Diana Bruni of Las Vegas; one brother, J.C. Mullens of Van Buren; one sister, Geraldine Montgomery of Kibler; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Family Christian Center in Patterson. Burial will be at Patterson District Cemetery under the direction of Hillview Funeral Chapel.

Wanda Land
Wanda Lea Land, 79, of Raytown, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at a hospital. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard L. Land; four sons, Richard W. Land of Warsaw, Mo., Gary Land and Donald Land, both of Fayetteville, and Mark Land of Springfield; two daughters, Kathy Land of Melbourne, Fla., and Marsha Tice of Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at High Point Baptist Church. Burial was at Brooking Cemetery under the direction of Floral Hills Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to High Point Baptist Church.

Vera Taff
Vera “Tootsie” Taff, 86, of Mulberry died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003. The native of Mulberry attended Mulberry Public Schools and was retired from Avon Packing Center in Glendora, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Taff; two sons, Don Taff of Alma and Mike Taff of Ozark; one daughter, Cheryl Howerton of Searcy; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren. Bural will be at Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of Oakdale Mortuary in Glendora, Calif.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway.

Mary Flippin
Mary Elizabeth Earp Flippin, 56, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at her home. She was an office receptionist for A.D. Jenkins Eye Clinic and a member of 43 Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Lori Earp of Van Buren; a son C.B. Earp Jr. of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Cathy Ferguson and Nancy Leslie, both of Van Buren; a stepson, David Flippin of Springfield, Ore.; her mother, Helen Wescott of Van Buren; three sisters, Carol Reeves, Lenora Hines and Frances Hunt, all of Van Buren; one grandchild; and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 22 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Derek Brewer, Kyle Daniels, Mike Reeves, Bill Hunt, Tim Hines and Larry West. Honorary pallbearers were Judge John Holland, Dr. A.D. Jenkins, Lois Harris, Paul Gant, Ronnie Cappelle and Steven Peer.

James Shettleworth
James D. Shettleworth, 74, of Dyer died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired employee of Riverside Furniture Co. and of the Pentecostal faith. He was born March 24, 1928, in Stigler.
Survivors include his wife, Dories Shettleworth; two sons, Benny Wayne Shettleworth of Alma and Randy Jay Settleworth of Dyer; one sister, Macklean Gates of Bartlesville, Okla.; two brothers, Roy Shettleworth of Spiro and Kenneth Settleworth of Altus; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 24 at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Hugh Rhoades
Hugh Torbett Rhoades, 53, of Mountainburg died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Mountainburg. He was a truck driver for D.T.I. and a veteran of the Marine Corps.
A private family memorial service was held Feb. 22 at New Beginnings Church in Mountainburg. Cremation was under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Crystal Rhoades of Jackson, Miss., and Cynthia Rhoades of Mountainburg; three sisters, June Simms of Antlers, Okla., Kathy of Gary, Ind., and Roberta Jones of Ada, Okla.; two brothers, Tom Rhoades of Rattan, Okla., and John Rhoades of Houston; and three grandchildren.
