Margaret Guinn
Margaret Guinn, 88, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Chester Guinn; two sons, Darwin Guinn of Fort Smith and Larry Guinn of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle, Nathan and Wesley Guinn, Chris Feris, Marcus Mulson and Bobby Stone. Honorary pallbearers were Missionary Baptist pastors.

Edith Titsworth
Edith Peggy Titsworth, 83, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a member of City Heights Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was the widow of Howard Titsworth.
A private family committal were held Feb. 20 under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Titsworth of Spiro; a sister, Dorothy Truax of Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Gladys Roberts
Gladys F. Roberts, 74, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at her home. She was a retired owner and operator, secretary and bookkeeper for Roberts Construction and of the Missionary Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; a daughter, Linda Roberts of the home; two sisters, Hope Ellington of Sweet Home, Ore. and Betty Mainard of Charleston; two brothers, Floyd Williams of San Pablo, Calif. and J.T. Williams of Alma.
Funeral was held Feb. 21 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Charles Mainard, Melvin Williams, Harold Hill, Ronnie, Tommy and Jimmy Roberts.
Ruby Patterson
Ruby J. Patterson, 78, of Mulberry died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Odell; six daughters, Shirley Maez of Mesa, Ariz., Faye Pate of Coppell, Texas, Patricia McCarver and Elaine Baty, both of Van Buren, Diane Sheridan of Fort Smith and Bonnie House of Alma; four sons, Wesley and Verlon Patterson, both of Fort Smith, Charles Patterson of Ozark and Terry Patterson of Mountainburg; three sisters, Opal Montgomery and Ada Johnson, both of Ozark, and Betty of Idaho; four brothers, Truman, Wadie and Bob Johnson, all of Ozark, and Roy Johnson of Charleston; 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at Oak Bower Church with burial at Oak Bower Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Myrtle Bell
Myrtle Reeves “Reva” Bell, 89, of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003. She was a private nurse at Sedgwick County Hospital and a retired private nurse with 35 years of service from St. Francis Hospital. She was the widow of Hugh Bell.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita, Kan.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Gifford of Wichita, Kan.; two sons, Marion of Wichita, Kan. and Aaron Sr. of Sedgwick; a sister, Opal Pitman of Muskogee, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Alvin Pearcy
Alvin H. Pearcy, 82, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired supervisor for General Motors in Van Nuys, Calif. He was a woodworker and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia; a daughter, Carol Verner of Van Buren; a son, David Means of Booneville; a sister, Polly Crockett of Modesto, Calif.; two brothers, Leroy Pearcy of San Antonio and Eldon Pearcy of Canoga Park, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 22 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Brad Goff, Justin Burcham, Dee Tankersly, Austin Robison, Robin Garrett, Bobby Wilhite, Donny Jones and James DeHart.
Dillon Peters, 77, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, retired from the Hickory Spring Furniture Company as traffic manager and from S&L Bolt Company and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Peters.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Shelby, Carol Rader, Susan Jennings and Lacey Thomas, all of Fort Smith; two sons, Buddy Peters of Fort Smith and Scott Peters of Alma; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Carl Ogilvie, Alan Ogilvie, Dillon Jennings, Joe Hill, Jody Hill and Dwayne Young. Honorary pallbearers were Reeves Dillon, Benny Meadors, Jim Ogilvie, Freddie O’Kelley Jr., Steward Arnold and Cleston Arnold.
Bert Robison
Bert Robison, 75, of Winslow died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002. He was a member of the Bidville Community Church and a poultry farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Voleta; three daughters, Trena Billington of Springdale, Pamela Allen of Oklahoma City and Neva Adcock of Mountainburg; a son, Tim Robison of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Glenys Wood of Berryville, Ruby Dixon of Catoosa, Okla., and Nina Armbrister of Twin Oaks, Okla.; a brother, Bill Robison of Muskogee; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Bidville Community Church. Burial was at Bidville Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

Clara Cox
Clara Ruth Cox, 91, of Borger, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in a Spearman nursing home. She was a housewife, a native of Crawford County and a resident of Borger for 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Cox.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ruth McLain of Borger; a son, Robert Larry Cox of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Mayme Whittle of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Sherry Louann Roth of Fort Worth, Texas, and Neena Kelfstrom of Baton Rouge, La.; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Wesley United Methodist Church of Borger under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Gerald W. Maxwell, 72, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in his home. He was a retired electrician and a disabled veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Maxwell and John Maxwell, both of Van Buren; five sisters, Lois Hill and Floy Jordan, both of Fort Smith, and Ruth Davis, Shirley Perkins and Connie Maxwell, all of Van Buren; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

John T. Mongold, 82, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was a member of Grandview Assembly of God in Natural Dam and a retired employee of Kay Chair Co.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; two daughters, Lillian Brown of Alma and Anna Wagnon of Van Buren; two sisters, Dorothy Freeman of Cedarville and Faye Jones of Prairie Grove; a brother, Tony Mongold of Witter; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Hall Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Ruth McKown
Ruth Nolan McKown, 63, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of the Pentecostal Outreach Ministries in Muldrow and a former nurse’s aide at Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Nolan.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; five daughters, Janice Barnett, Sharon Sims, Brenda Hickey, Karen Eisen and Veronica Martinez, all of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Sharon Fade of Wichita, Kan.; a stepson, Charles Ray McKown of Wichita; six sisters, Sue Mathews, Jane Kinney and Shirley London, all of Sallisaw, Barbara Maclemore of Fort Smith and Lola Tuck of Roland and Mattie Lou Johnson of Muldrow; two brothers, H.J. Eubanks of Fort Smith and Paul “Bud” Eubanks Jr. of Roland; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Charles Eisen and Kenny Matthews.
Eldon Qualls
Eldon Eugene Qualls, 57, of Choctaw died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002. He was the owner and operator of Wel-Tes Oil & Gas Testing Co. and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mulberry. He attended Life Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Twana; a daughter, Debra Abernathy of Choctaw; a son, Terry Qualls of Choctaw; two sisters, Barbara Flickenschild of Claremore, Okla., and Roxann Rodgers of Roland; two brothers, Don Qualls of Lavaca and Paul Jerry Qualls of Leesburg, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Amanda Qualls, Austin Qualls, Macy Qualls and Peyton Abernathy.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home in Midwest City. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Cemetery in Mulberry.
Ila Griffin
Ila Pearl Griffin, 89, of Alma died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker, member of Trinity Baptist Church in Alma and the Fine Springs Extension Homemakers Club in Alma and had been a dietitian for the Alma School System. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Griffin.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Smith of Alma; three grandchildren, Cindy Winborn and Brenda Smith, both of Alma, and Glenda Kimes of Springdale; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Newberry Cemetery in Alma.
Pallbearers were James Winborn, Jay Winborn, Jeff Kimes, Scott Kimes, Derek Kimes, Cory Bray and Aaron Bray. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Trinity Baptist Church.
Jerry Long
Jerry Donald Long, 67, of Alma died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002. He was self-employed and a resident of the Kibler area.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth; two stepdaughters, Keturah Wylemski of Sylvania, Ga., and Rachael Leaton of Enid, Okla.; one son, Morris Long of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Cheryl Bee of Oklahoma City and Jody Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was donated to medical science. Arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Cora Frazier
Cora Bell Frazier, 83, of Van Buren died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, formerly of Mulberry and of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Frazier.
Survivors include four daughters, Irene Cowan of Mulberry, Betty Moore and Sylvia Frazier, both of Van Buren, and Louise Richey of Indiana; two stepdaughters, Wanda Murphy of Van Buren and Lois Welch of California; three sons, Raymond Frazier of Alma; Carroll Frazier of Van Buren and Shirl Frazier; two stepsons, Von Frazier of Van Buren and Delmer Frazier of Tulsa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at New Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Curtis Cowan, Billy Cowan, James Frazier, Oliver Frazier, Troy Frazier and Todd Richey. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Cowan, Roy Moore and Ronnie DeWater.
Jewell Chitwood
Jewell Chitwood, 95, of Dyer died Feb. 25, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was the Dyer Cemetery caretaker for 47 years, a retired carpenter and a member of Dyer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Chitwood.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Coleman of Dyer; one son, John Paul Chitwood of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Donna Kay Small of Kibler and Paul Wayne Coleman of Mountainburg; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Dyer United Methodist Church. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Evelyn Dunford
Evelyn Naomi Dunford, 92, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. She was a member of the Kelly Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the Camarillo State Hospital in California where she was a licensed psychiatric technician.
Survivors include two daughters, Dina Nordby of Mansfield and Dana Davidson of Van Buren; twin sister, Ethlyn Farmer of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Daniel Hackney of Greenwood, Mary Burks of Van Buren, Naomi Elkins of Fort Smith, Carolynn King of Van Buren and Angela Lehnen of Fort Smith.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville.
