Dorothy May Bogan

Dorothy May Bogan, 83, of Clarksville died Tuesday, June 11, 2002.
She was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, daughter of the late George Thurston and Lena Webb Bogan, and was preceded in death by two brothers, James Calvin Bogan and Kermit Bogan; and one sister, Ethel Bogan Wharton.
She is survived by six nieces, Helen Moser of American Falls, Idaho, Ethelene Worton of Ogden, Utah, Erma Ashcroft of West Jordan, Utah, Aleta Thompson of Deweyville, Utah, Wanda King of Hyde Park, Utah, and Lucille Westerberg of Boise, Idaho; and three nephews, Darrel Wharton and Dale Wharton, both of Pocatello, Idaho, and Doyle Wharton of Riverton, Utah.
Graveside service and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Sherman cemetery at Oark with Rev. Ransom Storms officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Iona Curtis

Iona Curtis, 95, of Atkins died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Atkins Nursing Center.
She was a native of Pope County, daughter of the late James Albert and Mary Jane Williams Curtis, and was preceded in death by one son, Clebert Curtis; six brothers, Arvel (Bob), Calvin, Daniel, Fieldon, Marion and Richard; and four sisters, Ellen, Tildy, Dicey and Nettie.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Bob Curtis of Russellville, Ronnie and James Curtis of Appleton, Paul Curtis of Atkins and Adona Chronister of Hector; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Eva Snow of Appleton.
Graveside service and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Shiloh cemetery near Atkins under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Wesley Curtis, Ronnie Curtis, Billy Curtis, and B. J. Reid.
Honorary pallbearers were Dina Hall and the staff of Atkins Nursing Center.
Memorials may be made to the Senior Specialties Hospice, 1310 West Main Street, Suite A, Russellville, AR 72801.

James A. Havener

James Alex Havener, 55, of Clarksville died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Alex and Hollie Pierson Havener, retired truck driver from Patterson Oil Company, member of the Pentecostal Church, and was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Bill, Arnold and Mike Havener; and four sisters, Hilda Jolly, Alma (Doll) Yates, Ethel Havener, and Anita Havener.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Carol Havener of Lamar; one sister, Helen (Boots) Vires of Portageville, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Tona Havener, Cheyenne Havener, and Darren Gillespie, all of Lamar.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Holman cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bob Hency, Kenny Dalton, Michael Havener, and Dale Havener.

James R. Towe

James R. Towe, 73, of Clarksville died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Kaufman Health Care in Kaufman, Texas.
A native of Mt. Levi, he was a son of the late John Virgil and Ruth Pearl Smith Towe, welder with General Motors in St. Louis, Mo., for 27 years, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ledford and R. C. Towe; and five sisters, Ruth Towe, Norma Rhett, Nellie Morris, Flola Smith, and Baby Doll Towe.
He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Blagburn of Kaufman, Texas; two sisters, Marie Burton of Morley, Mo., and Pauline Farr of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Jackie Towe of Sikeston, Mo., and Winford Towe of Morehouse, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Booth of Dallas, Texas, and Wesley Patten, James Patten, and Amy Blagburn, all of Kaufman, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Zoe Cobb of Dallas, Texas, and Dorian Patten of Kaufman, Texas.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tom Patton officiating. Burial was in Knoxville cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth King, Kenny Yates, Wes Patten, Jim King, Jody Storms, and Timmy Storms.

Owen R. Vick

Owen R. Vick, 88, of Ozark died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was a certified public accountant, Navy veteran, Methodist, member of the Ozark VFW Post, native of Pope County, son of the late Joshua and Mammie Gideon Vick, and was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Simpson Vick; and one daughter, Donna Simpson.
He is survived by one son, Stanley Simpson; one sister, Ethelyn Dollar; two brothers, Leroy Vick and Joe Vick; four grandchildren; three nieces, Martha Efurd, Robbie Harris and Vicki Green; and two nephews, Major General Douglas Owen Dollar and David Vick.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Sammy Alverson and Rev. Don Minyard officiating.

Paul E. Martin

Paul E. Martin, 53, of Clarksville died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in a boating accident.
He was a native of Clarksville, attended Sallis School, graduated from Clarksville High School and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with a degree in business, recipient of numerous sports and scholastic honors, national merit scholar, member of the Church of Christ, and owner of Arkansas Cycle Works in Clarksville.
Survivors are his widow, Cindy Campbell Martin; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Brent Green of Russellville; parents, Paul and Marcie Martin of Clarksville; grandmother, Pearl Martin of Fayetteville; one sister, Beverly Martin of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren, Callie, Kelsey and Carson of Russellville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with Mike Eppinette and Marc Muncy officiating.
Burial will be in Minnow Creek cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Dive, Search and Recovery, P. O. Box 39, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Vera E. Ragsdale

Vera Eugenia Ragsdale, 88, of Dover died Monday, June 17, 2002, at her home.
A native of Russellville, she was a daughter of the late James and Sara Ann Stokes Rose, widow of W. E. (Bill) Ragsdale, graduate of Russellville High School, attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rose Ragsdale of Dover; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Wayne Lovern of Chatham, Ill.; one brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Joan Rose of Texarkana, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Owens cemetery near Dover. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville.

Burl Grace

Burl Grace, 76, of Van Buren died Friday, July 25, 2003.
A native of Lamar, he was a retired diesel mechanic, Protestant, and Navy veteran.
He is survived by one stepson, Ronald Duvall of California; twp sisters, Darlene Moon of Fort Smith and Susan Hubbard of Bentonville; and six brothers, Ralph C. Grace of Van Buren, John D. Grace of Fort Smith, Clarence Grace of Palmdale, Calif., James Grace of Ozark, Argus Grace of Bentonville, and Albert Grace Jr. of Lowell.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial in the U. S. National cemetery at Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Dustin Shipman, Clifford Shipman, Travis Moon, Allen Grace, Randy Jones, Tommy Grace, Brent Sampley, and Keith Sampley.

Chiquita L. Sills

Chiquita L. Sills, 79, of Benton died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Saline Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton, artist, former typesetter for Jones Printing, former coordinator for the Saline County Literacy Council, and a member of the National Poets Society and the Poets Roundtable. She was a daughter of the late William and Annie Virginia Cook Anderson and the widow of Charles Monroe Oliver and William Wilson Sills.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carlos William (Tony) and Phyllis Oliver of Clarksville and Jose Deshon Oliver of Benton; five grandchildren, Casa Paul Oliver of Benton, Tonya Ann Holben of Lamar, Tanya Ladon Carlton of Clarksville, Terri Lynn Sisco of Altus, Okla., and Heaven Anticlea Oliver of Wayne, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Mt. Vernon cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Saline County Humane Society in Benton.

Edith M. Weathers

Edith M. Weathers, 90, of Coal Hill died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Denning, daughter of the late Robert A. and Verta Dixon Weathers, widow of Charles E. Weathers, lifelong member of Coal Hill Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene Luebke; and one grandson, Robert Weathers.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Burke of Coal Hill; two sons, Marvin Weathers and Bob Weathers, both of Coal Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gerald Morris officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerrod Blockburger, Joe Smith, Bill Luebke, Dustin Luebke, Mike Luebke, Harold Weathers, Gary Weathers, Steve Weathers, and Darrell Weathers.
Honorary pallbearers were Mary Self, Linda Owens, Sherry Self, Arlene Bartlett, and Betty Poindexter.
Memorials may be made to Forrester-Davis Development Center, 1000 Buchanan Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.
