Miriam C. Murray

Miriam Cloud Murray, 101, former resident of Clarksville, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kan.
She was a native of Sturgis, S. D., daughter of the late Rev. Charles A. and Lorena A. Adams Cloud, widow of Roy H. Murray, graduate of Southwestern College, member of Pi Kappa Delta, deaconess with Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church for six years at Atchison, Kan., and Cleveland, Ohio, charter member and past president of the United Methodist Women, active as a Stephen Minister at Trinity United Methodist Church, and member of United Methodist Women and Together Sunday School Class at Trinity Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Pond.
She is survived by two sons, Mark F. of Glendale, Calif., and Gordon R. of Abington, Pa.; one brother, Robert W. Cloud of Florida; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory were in charge of the arrangements.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Nadine R. Pont

Nadine R. Pont, 60, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Missouri and daughter of the late Claude and Velma Black Farrar.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Pont; three daughters, Tammy Mooney and Terry Dixon, both of Clarksville, and Gidget Bartoletti of Pennsylvania; two sons, Roger Richter of Ozark and Travis Richter of Knoxville; mother-in-law, Mary Pont of Clarksville; three stepdaughters, Patty McDonald of West Virginia and Leslie Nielson and Julie O'Neal, both of Iowa; three brothers; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9.

Oliver R. Sexton

Oliver R. Sexton, 70, of Lamar died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Charles and Rosie Burdine Sexton, employee of Whitson-Morgan Motor Company for 42 years, member of the First United Pentecostal Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Lee Sexton; and one son-in-law, Russell Hilton.
Survivors are his widow, Bobbie Sexton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Hilton of Clarksville, Kimberley Martin of Lamar, and Shannon and Robert Phillips of Clarksville; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charles and Mattie Sexton of Texas, Garland and Mildred Sexton of Flint, Mich., and Joe and Evelyn Sexton and Hartsell Sexton, all of Ozark; four grandchildren, April Hefner, Naja Auterson, Jordan Phillips and Jimmy Lee Phillips, all of Clarksville; and one great-grandson, Tyler Williams of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the First United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Vernon Long and Rev. Mike Minniear officiating.
Burial was in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were J. C. Wheeler, Bobby Wheeler, Robert Phillips, Mark Hilton, Rick Harmon, and Jerry Martin.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Whitson-Morgan Motor Company, Bill Talley, Bill Bavis, Tyler Williams, Jordan Phillips, and Jimmy Lee Phillips.

Charles Johnson Jr.

Charles Jefferson Johnson Jr., 87, of Lawton, Okla., brother of Mae Evelyn Harris of Clarksville, died Friday, June 20, 2003.
He was a native of Mt. Levi, son of the late Charles and Annie Graves Johnson, former resident of Cache, Okla., and retired from Chapman Construction in 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Kloss Johnson; three brothers; and one sister.
Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Travis (Butch) and Marilyn Johnson of Tucson, Ariz., Johnny and Judy Johnson of Wautauga, Texas, and Charles Johnson of Cache, Okla.; two daughters, Donna Durkee of Owasso, Okla., and Anita Smith of Cache, Okla.; one brother, Norman Johnson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the First Baptist Church of Cache, Okla., with Rev. Charles Kriss officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf, Okla.

David H. Hamilton

David Henry Hamilton, 47, of Fort Smith died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his home.
A native of Elaine, he was a son of the late Mack and Mary Wanda Evans Hamilton, graduate of Coal Hill High School, Air Force veteran, employee of Pradco Company in Fort Smith, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleta H. and Jasper H. Evans.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. Nicholas (Crystal) Hale, Mrs. Kevin (Christie) Fry, and Casey Hamilton, all of Wakeeney, Kan., and Cody Hamilton of Coal Hill; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Gary Meador of Russellville and Judy Lydon of London; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donnie and Linda Hamilton of London, Douglas and Jonda Hamilton of Clarksville, and James Hamilton of Atkins; two grandchildren, Joseph Fry and Shane Hale, both of Wakeeney, Kan.; six nephews; three nieces; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; three cousins; aunt, Delia Sisk of Coal Hill; and the mother of his children, Cheryl Hamilton of Wakeeney, Kan.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Hess cemetery with Rev. Dan Baker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Ruth E. Felkins

Ruth Elizabeth Felkins, 76, of Clarksville died Friday, June 27, 2003, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Edward and Pearl Martin Morgan, factory employee, member of the Second Baptist Church in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Sears and Emma Mae Landthrip.
She is survived by her husband, Vester (Nap) Felkins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Crumrine and Debra and Ewing Cline, all of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Judy Felkins of Clarksville; three sisters, Vestal Sears, Vida King and Ruby Childress, all of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Second Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Joe Craft, Rev. Matt Weaver and Rev. Bill Milam officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Airy cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brent Crumrine, Eric Cline, Brandon Felkins, Ben Hardgrave, Eddie Lindsey, and John W. Laugwitz.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church Youth Group, 709 Oak Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Edyth L. Jackson

Edyth Lanora Jackson, 81, of Coal Hill died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a cosmetologist, Baptist, daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Flemming Roberds, and widow of Herbert George Jackson.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Gattis and Sharon Estep, both of Coal Hill, and Phyllis Smith of North Little Rock; one son, James Herbert Jackson of Coal Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Coal Hill cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Gerald Morris officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Garlon W. Ming Sr.

Garlon W. Ming Sr., 80, of Hartman died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a ranch manager for Ranch Sierra Vista, Baptist, member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans Association, California Citrus Advisory Board and Johnson County Quilters Guild and participated in the atomic test in Bikini Islands. He was born at Paris to Virgil Henry and Flora Keck Ming.
Survivors include his widow, Mona Day Ming; six sons, Garlon Ming Jr. and David Ming, both of Hartman, Merl Ming of Grants Pass, Ore., Bruce Ming of Gainesville, Ga., Bill Ming of Sacramento, Calif., and Paul Ming of Hartville, Mo.; three sisters, Neomi Bearden of Ozark, Evelyn Smith of Stockton, Mo., and Patsy Joubert of Mulberry; four brothers, Clifford Ming of Denton, Texas, Jack Ming of Bossier City, La., Clarence Ming of Booneville and Raymond Ming of Santa Paula, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Farquhar officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Lynn Day, Carl Day, Steve Payne, Curtis Godwin, Jody Ming, Matt Ming, and Roy Day.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Payne, Doyle Frost, Ryan Ming, Brandon Ming, and Nolton Joubert.

Hazel Frost

Hazel Della Campbell Frost, 89, of Clarksville died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was an educator, Methodist, daughter of the late John L. and Mamie Marie Moore Campbell, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Phillips and Fern Kelly; and one brother, John Tony Campbell.
Survivors are her husband, Wiley Lee Frost; one daugher and son-in-law, Joan and Mike Gray-Ehnert of Waterloo, Wis.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Bobbi Frost of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and John and Julia Frost of Clarksville; one sister, Jewell Donovan of Little Rock; one brother, William David Campbell of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Airy cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Russell Frost, Ben Jacobs, Bob Frost, Larry Morse, Sean Gray-Ehnert and Chris Allen.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Frost, Varnel King, and John Reed.
