Malachi Francisco Diaz, infant son of Horacio and Michele Diaz of Ozark, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in Clarksville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather Lonnie Mize and paternal grandfather Francisco Santana Diaz.
Survivors include his parents, one brother, Tyler Harty; one sister, ShyAnn Grace Binz; maternal grandparents and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mize, Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Binz, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Binz, Rachel Case, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Schlaf and Gracie Mize; and paternal grandmother Consuelo Placios Octaviano of Mexico.
Rosary was at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, with mass at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 20, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris and burial in Benedict cemetery in Subiaco.
Pallbearers were Horacio Diaz, Joshua Helms, Antonio Jimenez, Eleazar Linarez and Tito Zamorano.
Danny P. Sampley
Danny Paul Sampley, 32, of Fort Smith, brother of Richard T. Sampley of Clarksville, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was a native of Ozark, attended Oak Grove Church at Cecil, and participated in painting of the mural at the Fort Smith Trolley Car Museum.
Other survivors include his mother, Betty Jean Hancock Sampley LaClair of Ozark; father, Danny Ray Sampley of Roland, Okla.; maternal grandparents, Gene and Violet Hancock of Cecil; one niece, Brook; and two nephews, Luke and Lane.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Eubanks cemetery west of Cecil.
Pallbearers were Bill, Bobby, Jimmie, Gary and Alan Hancock, and Ben Schaffer.
Pearl M. Gilbert
Pearl M. Gilbert, 95, of Altus died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at her home.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Vester and Dill Vickers Mitchell, widow of Ernest Gilbert, and a member of Dyer Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Melba Williams of Denning; three sons, Joel Gilbert of Prairie Grove, Howard Gilbert of Ozark and William Gilbert of Dyer; one brother, Wilburn Mitchell of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Altus United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Sammy Alverson and Ronnie Lee officiating.
Burial was at Highland cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Pallbearers were Jim, Josh, Mike, Clifton and Brandon Gilbert, and Michael Brown.

Bertha Mae Felkins
Bertha Mae Felkins, 78, of Lodi, Calif., died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Hartman, grew up in the Goose Camp Community, former resident of Clarksville, Connecticut, and San Bernardino, Calif., employee of Safeway Stores in Lodi, Calif., and served as secretary for the Retail Clerk's Union for several years prior to retiring in 1973, member of Century Assembly for approximately 30 years and the Women's Ministries of the church, and a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by one son, Steve Felkins; three brothers, Lawrence Shoeffler, Milburn Shoeffler and Joseph F. Shoeffler; one sister, Agnes Guthrie; and two brothers-in-law, Ben Robertson and Homer McCleary.
Survivors include her husband, William Lee Felkins; one daughter, Delores Haze of Lodi, Calif.; one son and spouse, Donald and Melva Felkins of Lodi, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Jeanette Felkins of Lodi, Calif., and Linda Lake of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold L. and Elaine Shoeffler of Stockton, Calif.; and two sisters, Ruby A. McCleary and Melba Robertson of Manteca, Calif.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Century Assembly with Dale Edwards and Harold Duncan, pastors, officiating.
Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park under the direction of Lodi Funeral Home, Inc.

Eleonora M. Thompson, 102, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Fort Smith, daughter of the late Emil and Martha Kauffeld Steuber, widow of Jess W. Thompson, member of Second Baptist Church, graduate of Draughn's School of Business in Fort Smith, former employee of Stewart-Donnell and Stewart Sheppard dress shops for several years, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy T. Edwards, and one grandson, Brian Thompson.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Henderson of Rogers, Anna Brewer of Tulsa, Okla., and Barbara Wilson of Clarksville; two sons, Jess Thompson Jr. of Clarksville and Raymond Thompson of Whispering Pines, N. C.; one half-sister, Mary Talmadge of South Hampton, N. Y.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sammie Brown officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Josee Toth, 77, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Desert Springs Hospital.
She was a native of Belgium, former resident of Clarksville and Johnson County, and a retired bookkeeper and accounting employee.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Heather Toth of Las Vegas, Nev.; two granddaughters, Karlee of Phoenix, Ariz., and Hannah of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandsons, Sean and Seth, both of Las Vegas, Nev.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Palm Mortuary Eastern in Las Vegas, Nev.
Oda Monroe Edwards
Oda Monroe Edwards, 86, of Mayflower died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Sid and Beulah Frost Edwards, farmer, truck driver, veteran of World War II having served four years and six months as a tech sergeant and cook in the South Pacific, and was preceded in death by one sister, Inez Padgett Jobe, and four infant siblings.
Survivors include his widow, Modine Troutman Edwards; one son, Charles R. Edwards of Mayflower; one granddaughter and spouse, Melanie and Troy Loftin of Texarkana, Texas; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Fay Edwards of Mayflower; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Roller-McNutt Chapel in Conway with Rev. Leon Troutman officiating. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Bobby J. Hawkins
Bobby Joe Hawkins, 74, brother of Carol O'Neal of Coal Hill, died Sept. 23, 2004, in Olathe, Kan.
He was born in the White Rock Community, son of the late Alfred and Ada Hawkins, served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was a retired employee of the Delco Battery plant after 32 years of service.
He was a member of the Gardner Masonic Lodge No. 65 and American Legion Post 153 and had attended Olathe View Baptist Church for several years. He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory; one sister, Freda; and one brother, Wayne.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ellen G. Hawkins; one son, Wayne Hawkins; one daughter, Kim Redick; two other sisters, Ruby Pietarila of Olathe, Kan., and Pat Corbett of Alma; one brother, Jerry Hawkins of Ozark; four grandchildren, Shawnn, Gwennon, Mellenie and Macie; and four great-grandchildren, Shelbi, Sawyer, Zachary and Sydney.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Sept. 27, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kan., with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Christal Conaway
Christal Charis Conaway, 30, of Little Rock died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at her home.
She was a surgical nursing technician and had served four years in the U. S. Navy.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Myers; one son, Austin Zachary Conaway of Little Rock; father, Steve Conaway of Lamar; mother, Janis E. Zachary of Lamar; one sister, Shawna Danita Conaway of Lamar; and one brother, David Zachary Conaway of Lamar.
Funeral was at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Leon Fancher officiating.
Burial was in Madden cemetery at Lamar under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
