Norma Hodges
Norma Carolyn Lenhardt Hodges, 71, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004.
She was a native of the Lutherville Community, former resident of Alaska, and retired secretary-treasurer of an air charter service.
Survivors are her husband, Troy Hodges; one daughter, Diana of Soldotna, Alaska; and one son, Ross (Tiger) of Maumee, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Lutherville cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary and cemetery in Chandler, Ariz.
Verna B. Gable
Verna Beatrice Gable, 77, of Lamar died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired factory employee, Baptist, and daughter of the late Jim and Girty Barnett Clark.
Survivors are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald and Mona Gable of Clarksville, Victor and Teresa Hawkins and Earl William Whitman, all of Boaz, Ala., and Robert L. Gable Jr. of Lamar; two sisters, Geraldine Oles and Loretta Porter, both of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Frank Shook officiating. Burial was in West Mt. Zion cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bobby Clark, Dale Dabbs, Carl Porter, Brian Crosno, Johnny Sanders, and John Blackburn.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Cole, David Newton, and Paul Whitehead.
Veryl B. Stricklin
Veryl Bussey Stricklin, 57, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a park attendant for the Corps of Engineers at Piney Bay, employee of Circle 64 Store in Coal Hill, attended the Coal Hill Baptist Church, and was a daughter of the late Ira Lee and Martha Elizabeth Vernon Bussey.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Stricklin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and David Nagengast of Flint, Mich., and Irene and Kenneth Sisk of Coal Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Don and Laura Stricklin of Coal Hill; two sisters, Beatrice Moelander of Huntley, Ill., and Bonita Bussey of West Dundee, Ill.; one brother, Tony Bussey of West Dundee, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Coal Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Qualls and Rev. Gerald Morris officiating.
Burial was in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Billy Scarberry, Mike Guinnip, Ryan Stricklin, Randy Stricklin, Darrell Stricklin, and Dustin Moffit.
Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Moffit, Jason Stricklin, and Alan Stricklin.
Beulah L. Pledger
Beulah Lorene Pledger, 90, of Wagoner, Okla., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Wagoner Care Center.
She was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Neta Brown Garrett and of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori Phelps of Claremore, Okla.; one brother, Amsey Garrett of Clarksville; one grandson, John Phelps of Tulsa, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Kristin and Kylre Phelps, both of Tulsa, Okla.; and three nieces, Joyce Carson and Sharon Cline, both of Clarksville, and Carolyn Bishop of Altus.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Garrett cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lecil Phelps, Ed Carson, Travis Cline, Paul Williams, Curtis Bishop, and Verlon Harris.
Elene Cook Foltz
Funeral service for Elene Cook Foltz, 88, of Clarksville, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Melvin Bankhead officiating. Burial will be private.

She was a daughter of the late Charles Ira and Ethel Hamilton Cook and widow of James R. Foltz.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Thomas H. Hogan of Clarksville; one son, Charles F. Foltz of Clarksville; two sisters, Isabella Knighton of Louisiana and Lorene Cook of Little Rock; and one brother, Ralph Frederick Cook of Texas.
Florine Hixon
Vetra Florine Hixon, 91, of Ozark died Dec. 28, 2004.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late William and Rose Etta Patterson, widow of James Hixon, member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, and was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Fine.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ralph Franklin of Ozark; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Billy Hixon of Ozark and Dale and Pat Hixon of Marshall, Texas; four grandchildren, Mike Franklin and Debby Proffitt, both of Ozark, Tammie Love of Conway and Regina Stephens of Moline, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Bill Milam officiating. Burial was in Nichols Chapel cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Freeman, Paul Lee, Robert Hollowell, Aubrey Bowen, Wesley Lee and A. L. Pippin.
Floyd C. Manly
Floyd C. Manly, 74, of Russellville, whose son and daughter-in-law, T. Alex and Jennifer Manly, reside in Clarksville, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Detroit, Mich., son of the late Floyd and Sophia Szymanski Manly, United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan with a fighter bomber squadron, owner-operator of the Subway restaurants in Russellville for 20 years, former field engineer for Bechtel Power Corporation, president of the R. C. Modelers Club in the 1980s, former owner of a photography shop in Melbourne, Fla., employed with Boeing on the N.A.S.A. moon shot for four years, columnist for sy0cf1Model Airplane Newssy0cf1 in 1982-83, wrote articles for sy0cf1R. C. Modelersy0cf1 magazine, designed model airplanes which were printed and sold by sy0cf1R. C. Modelersy0cf1 magazine, a card player, motorcyclist, snowmobiler and gun collecter. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Rynkowski; and one brother, Robert Manly.
Other survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dona L. Manly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa L. and Kim Altman of Dover and Laura J. and Bruce Page of Sallisaw, Okla.; mother-in-law, Hazel I. Stern of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Migdalia Rynkowski of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Karen Hicks of Monroe, Mich., and Linda Steffes of Farewell, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Derek, Kyle and Ashley Altman, Ryan Page, Audra Page Meahl, and Sierra, Genevieve and Sophia Manly; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Russellville with Rev. Mackey Yokem officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Honorary pallbearers were Wednesday night poker buddies and Gaines Smith.

James E. Dobbs
James Ernest Dobbs, 74, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Verdis McKinley and Lillian Cline Dobbs, retired Clarksville Wood Products employee after 45 years of service, Baptist, and trustee of the Woodland Community Building.
Survivors are his wife, Harolene Ritchey Dobbs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Roger Frizzell and Susan and Danny Ward, all of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Amsey Garrett of Clarksville; grandchildren and spouses, Gregory Frizzell, Jeffrey and Monica Frizzell, Wesley and Dana Frizzell, and Amanda and Scott McCormick, all of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Kelsey Frizzell, both of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.
Jean McKinney
Jean McKinney, 73, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Jeremiah and Rose Graf Hickey, graduate of Chicago High School in Chicago, Ill., member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a retired Wal-Mart employee.
Survivors are her husband, Dave McKinney; two daughters, Debbie Talley and Dorothea McKinney, both of Clarksville; four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tanya McKinney, Daniel and Rebecca McKinney, and Dwayne and Tammy McKinney, all of Clarksville and Donald and Julie McKinney of Fort Smith; two sisters, Judy Stack of Palos Park, Ill., and Barbara Stolnack of Santa Barbara, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating. The body was cremated following the funeral mass.
Active pallbearers were Danny Crosley, Tom Davenport, Pat Hilton, Dr. John Dunham, Bert Killane, and Willie Killane.
Honorary pallbearers were Brenda Johnson, Anita Kremers, Deanna Yates, Pee Wee Stroud and Deann Blackard.
