Raymond Brock
Raymond Boyd Brock, 82, of Quitman died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at a Little Rock hospital. He was born January 25, 1922 in Quitman, to the late William Boyd Brock and Mary Etta Fowler Brock. He was a retired factory worker and a Baptist, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II with service in the south Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Avis Brock of Quitman; two daughters, Elaine Ward of Quitman and Charlotte Melton of Searcy; three sons, Dennis Brock of Quitman, Erwin Brock of Quitman and Nelson Brock of Greenwood; three brothers, Adam Brock of Quitman, Clifford Brock of Little Rock and Gerald Brock of Quitman; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28 at Sand Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Jim Atkinson and Otis Lyons Jr. officiating. Interment was at Sand Springs cemetery by Bishop-Griffin Funeral Home of Greenbrier.
Pallbearers were grandsons Destin Brock, Jimmy John Ward, T.J. Stark, Bobby Joe Stark, Robbie Brock and Seth Brock. Honorary pallbearer was Chester Duffey.

Donald Royal
Donald T. Royal, 76, of Fairfield Bay died Friday, May 28, 2004 at his home. He was born March 24, 1928 in Greenville, PA to the late Walter Theodore and Margaret Everall Royal.
He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps; was a retired machinist with Chicago Bridge & Iron Co., and was a member of Fairfield Bay VFW Post, serving on the Honor Guard. He was a volunteer firefighter, a golfer, hunter and gardener, and was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Locke Royal of the home; three children, Brian and wife Robin Royal of Bartlett, TN; Brenda A. Lock and Ronnie Hartsfield of Greenbrier and Blake and wife Teresa Royal of Olive Branch, MS; brothers John Royal of Hartstown, PA and Harold Royal of Belton, TX; a sister, JoAnn Wilson of Greenville, and five grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, June 2 at Roller-McNutt Chapel in Clinton with interment at Cadron Valley cemetery at Greenbrier.

Ruby Kamberling
Mrs. Ruby C. Kamberling, 83, of Fairfield Bay died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. She was born August 6, 1920 at Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ruby Wean Young.
She and her husband Leo moved to FFB in 1969, where she worked in the accounting department until her retirement in 1984. In 1995 the family moved to Clinton.
She was a charter member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post #4513, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the local Disabled American Veterans chapter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, a daughter, two sons, her husband, a granddaughter, a great-grandson and three nephews.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Goodall and wife Kathy of Ontario, WI; three stepsons, Terry Kamberling and wife Carla and Dennis Kamberling of Columbus, OH, and David Kamberling of Cedar Rapids, IA, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, a sister, Madge Morrow of Hiawatha, IA, a niece, a sister-in-law, Bonnie Young of Marion, IA and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at Cornerstone Evangelical Church with Rev. Willard Paden officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.

Kenneth Wyatt
Kenneth R. Wyatt, 62, of Clinton died Friday, May 28, 2004 at his home in Clinton. He was born February 3, 1942 in Morehouse Parish, LA, the son of Wilbur J. and Ethel Adelia Bell Wyatt, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brother, Wilbur James Wyatt, and by his sister, Isa Pearl Lee.
He was a stone and brick mason, and was a minister.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Edwina Neal Wyatt; children JoAnn DeRouen of Franklin, LA, Stan Wyatt of West Monroe, LA, Tricia Morgan of Oakdale, LA, Ken S. Wyatt of Eros, LA, Dana McKinley of Clinton, Edward Wyatt of West Monroe, Joshua Wyatt of Clinton, Sylvia Medellin of Erath, LA, Ken J. Wyatt of Shirley, David Wyatt of Oak Grove, LA, Casey Wyatt and Alma Wyatt of Erath, Wanda Wyatt of Oak Grove and Ricky Wyatt of Delhi, LA; a brother, Terry V. Wyatt of Astrick, LA; two sisters, Wilma Dunham of Monroe, LA and Shelby Chedister of Crossett; 41 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A gathering of rememberance will be held Saturday, June 5 at the family home in Clinton. Arrangements are by Central Arkansas Funeral Services of Conway.

Sallie Higgins
Sallie Higgins, 88, of Big Springs, died Monday, June 14, 2004 at Mountain View. She was born September 5, 1915 at Newport. She was a homemaker and a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Higgins; by her parents, Charles and Ida Belle Bates; by a son, Eugene Higgins; daughters Eloise Higgins and Linda Faye Higgins; another son, Billy Max Higgins, and by sisters Leaner Fivecoat and Eva Wakefield.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Virginia Higgins of Clinton; a daughter, Jettia Avey of Big Springs; sisters Maudie Smith and Helen Harris, both of Missouri, 16 grandchildren and 26 grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Friday, June 18 at Roller-Coffman Chapel at Mountain View with Junior Avey officiating. Interment was at Sandhill cemetery at Newport by Roller-Coffman.
Pallbearers included Mason Mullins, Tim Mullins, Bodie Higgins, Matt Avey, Bryan Avey and Devin Avey. Honorary pallbearer was Garrett Mullins.

Bina Moore
Bina L. Moore, 69, of Bentonville died Friday, June 18, 2004 at her home. She was born August 4, 1934 in Rocky Hill to Rev. James M. Hayes and Lillian Maude Doshier Hayes. She worked as a sales manager for Target Stores.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bentonville.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Tyler of Clinton and Kerry Tyler of Bentonville; a daughter, Rose Tyler Todd of Seagoville; a brother, Darrell Hayes of El Cajon, CA; a sister, Edna Wingfield of Italy, TX; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration service was held Tuesday, June 22 at Rocky Hill cemetery near Dennard with Mickey Parrish officiating. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Patricia Rushing
Mrs. Patricia Constance Rushing, 75, of Mabelvale died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born July 3, 1928 at Waukesha, WI, the daughter of the late Henry H. and Matie R. Gilliman Schwenn.
She was retired from the Belden Corp. after 18 years of service; was a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, and she was a Baptist.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Rushing, a granddaughter, a sister, Marilyn Stockenger, and by a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Sheets.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, George J. Rushing of Mabelvale; four sons, Bob and Patti Rushing of Bella Vista, Mike and Mena Rushing of Heber Springs, David and Becky Rushing of Conway and Greg and Regina Rushing of Clinton; a daughter, Lou Rushing of Mabelvale; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Rushing of Snyder, TX; two sisters in Wisconsin, 24 grandchildren and two great-grandsons, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22 at Olsmtead Chapel with Rev. Roy Dale Clark and Rev. James Lovell officiating. Interment was at Pee Dee cemetery by Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.
Pallbearers included Travas Rushing, Devan Rushing, John McCloy, Jason McCloy, Jeff Pate and Kurtis Goerlich.

Cassie Nicholson
Cassie Julie May Barnum Crawford Nicholson, 90, of Bee Branch died Sunday, June 20, 2004. She was born January 19, 1914 in Higden to the late Jim and Dora Mills Barnum. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was a homemaker and was a longtime member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Bee Branch.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Luther Crawford and Lawrence Nicholson; by two daughters, Evelyn Polizzi and Corene Graves, and by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Crawford of Center Ridge; two sons, Roger Nicholson of Bee Branch and Terry Nicholson of Conway; a brother, J.D. Barnum of Birdtown; a sister, Edith Holliman of Conway; four stepsons, J.W., Junior, Jimmy and Gene Nicholson; a stepdaughter, Ruthel Linn; a daughter-in-law and caregiver, Donna Nicholson, 30 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, June 21 at Mt. Zion General Baptist Church, with interment at Colony cemetery by Roller-McNutt of Clinton.

Norma Chambers
Norma Jean Chambers, 90, of Shirley died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Ozark Health Nursing Center in Clinton. She was born September 11, 1913 in Centerville, PA, the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Rodgers Saunders.
She was married February 23, 1935 to Pierre Eugene Chambers, her husband of 69 years; he survives.
She was a former resident of Rushville, IN, and had lived in Shirley for 20 years. She was a homemaker, and had worked in a drug store, department store and movie theater. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ and was active in church work.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mary Porter of Shirley; a sister, Irene Lauterbach of Aptos, CA; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 30 at Olmstead Woodland Chapel with interment at Woodland Memorial Park by Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.

‘Nell’ Hudspeth
Vernelle ‘Nell’ Hudspeth, 81, of Mountain Home died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center at Springfield, MO. She was born December 15, 1922 at Bee Branch, the daughter of the late Roy C. and Cora French Lee. She attended South Side High School and was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College.
She taught in Gould for 20 years, and also at Harrison. In 1970 she moved to Mountain Home and owned and operated the Holiday Inn. At the time of her death she owned the Baxter Inn at Mountain Home.
She was a member of first United Methodist Church at Mountain Home, was a member of the Holiday Inn Innkeepers for 32 years, was a lifelong member of the Democratic party, and had traveled extensively.
Survivors include a brother, Junior Lee of Harrison; a son and his wife, Shain and Tammy Satterwhite, and a daughter. Christina Hughes, all of Harrison; a stepbrother and his wife, Richard and Cleone Porter of Big Sandy, TX, several grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relations.
Services were held Monday, August 2 at First United Methodist Church at Mountain Home with Dr. Russell Moore officiating; graveside services were later Monday at Maplewood cemetery at Harrison under arrangements by Christeson Funeral Home of Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers included employees of Hudspeth Motors of Harrison and the Baxter Inn of Mountain Home.
