Paizlee Barnum
Paizlee Ann Barnum, 4, of Bee Branch went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was joined in death by her mother Jamie. Paizlee was born Dec. 4, 2009, in Conway, Arkansas, to Rusty Wayne Barnum and Jamie Cathryn Johnson Barnum. She attended Bee Branch Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by great-grandparents Carlene and Glen Barnum, Betty Margaret Patterson Smith, Eugene C. Smith Sr., James R. Johnson Sr. and Joseph Linch.
Survivors include her father Rusty Wayne Barnum of Bee Branch; grandparents James and Rebecca Johnson of Greenbrier, Ronney and Michelle Barnum of Damascus, Crystal Barnum of Greers Ferry; great-grandparents Beverly Johnson of Falconer, New York, Sharon Linch of Greeley, Colorado, and Rick and DD Matthews of Greenbrier. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Bee Branch Baptist Church with Brother CW Blood officiating. Burial was in Higden-McLehaney cemetery.

Gwendolyn Barnett
Gwendolyn C. Barnett, 86, of Kimberling City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Shirley, Arkansas, to Milton and Pearl (Mahaney) Little.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Charlie Barnett. She is survived by her mate, Allen Stewart; two sons, Charles Barnett and Hershel Barnett; two daughters, Melinda Hurt and Vicki Kellette; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Oleda Harness; two brothers, A.J. Little and Royce Little; and many close friends.
Graveside service and burial were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Shady Grove cemetery, Shirley, Arkansas. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.
Michael Taylor
Michael Dale Taylor, 55, of Bee Branch, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014. He was born Nov. 24, 1958, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Waysee D. and Thelma Mayo Taylor.
He graduated in 1977 from White Hall High School, White Hall, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner/operator of Country Cousins’ Muffler Shop in Conway, Arkansas. Mike was a master mechanic and previously worked at Mabelvale West Exxon in Little Rock. He also worked at Three Star Muffler, Merle’s Garage, and Wooley and Gandy, G.M.C., all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He was preceded by his parents, brothers, Jimmy Waysee Taylor and Larry Ray Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 5 1/2 years Carolyn “Missy” (Davis) Taylor of the home; four children, Melissa, Rebekah, Charles and Tisha Taylor of the home; sister Ann Fowler of White Hall, Arkansas; brothers, Danny Taylor and wife Betty of Alexander, Arkansas, Kenny Taylor and wife Linda of Tyler, Texas, and Jerry Taylor and wife Marianne of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
Pallbearers: Kenny Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Brian Redman, Alan Brazeale, Kenneth Jones, and Jim Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers: Chris Paap, and Reggie Moore.

Bobby Griggs
Bobby Dean Griggs, 83, of Mayflower, passed away July 9, 2014. He was born April 12, 1931, in Scotland, Arkansas, to the late Luther Smith and Alvy Ann Watts Griggs. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and spent 40 years as manager of the construction department for Arkansas Electric. He was a Methodist and a Democrat.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; children Terri and (Brian) of Little Rock, Deana McNeil and (Steve McArthur) of Greenbrier, Vicki and David Johnson of Sherwood, Bobby L. Griggs of Siloam Springs, Tommie Carter and Eddie of Mayflower, Connie Morgan of Little Rock, Martin Morgan of Mayflower and Cynthia Graves of Eureka, Missouri. He is also survived by siblings, Peggy Massy and Kent Griggs of Leslie and Sarah Crow of Clinton. Bobby is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Almeta Keeling and brother Tommy Griggs and first wife Jean Parks Griggs.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Clinton Funeral Service Chapel with Brother Billy Crow officiating. Visitation was before the service. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Helen Cornelius
Helen Lessie Payne Cornelius, 65, of Bee Branch, passed away on July 8, 2014.
Visitation was Wednesday, July 9, at Clinton Funeral Service in Clinton. Funeral services was 10 a.m. July 10 at Colony Church of Christ in Bee Branch, with Minister Carl Thomason officiating. Interment was at Colony cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Clinton Funeral Service.
Lincoln Guffey
Lincoln C. Guffey, 94, of Damascus, Arkansas, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. He was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Old Lexington Community, Shirley, Arkansas, to George W. and Maude (Field) Guffey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Reba M. Guffey of the home; sister, Lilly (Loyd) McKinney; brother, Bill (Sue) Guffey; grandson Randy Payne; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Reanna, he loved with all his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lorene and Sylvia.
Lincoln was a true Christian of the Baptist faith. A man with a heart of love, kindness, thinking of others before himself, placed God at the head of his home.
He served in the Army 3 1/2 years and received several medals. He was discharged Oct. 21, 1945, came home and in two months he and Reba were married
and had 68 wonderful years together. He was a cattle farmer and a carpenter.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, and funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton, Arkansas, with Pastor Tracy Bush officiating. Burial will follow with U.S. Army Military Honors in Colony cemetery, Morganton Community, Bee Branch, Arkansas. Frances Evans
Frances Jean Woodell Evans passed from this world on July 2, 2014, after living a long and wonderful life among family and friends. Frances was born in Kensett, Arkansas, on June 17, 1927, and lived there until the death of her father in 1929. The remainder of her life was spent in Clinton.
Frances served our country in 1945 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. at the close of World War II along with her sister, Ruth. She was a typist, generating documents for the military. After returning home, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway where she studied nursing. It was during this training that she met and married
Carroll B. Evans on Sept. 14, 1947, and spent the next 63 years raising five boys and one girl, then helping with many grandchildren.
Shortly after their marriage in 1947, Frances and C.B. opened the Evans Café on the Clinton Court Square. After a short stint operating the “meat and three,” they traded the café for a laundry, located behind the old First Baptist Church building. There they offered wringer-type washing machines for public use at the rate of 60 cents per hour. Frances ran the laundry while C.B. traveled his district giving driver’s tests as a state trooper.
As technology improved, Frances and C.B. moved to a building next door to the office of Dr. John A. Hall and offered coin-operated automatic washing machines and clothes dryers at Evans Magic Wash, where Frances continued her friendship with many old and new customers. She operated the laundry and took care of her family until her retirement and sale of the laundry in 1984. Since her retirement, Frances spent all her time enjoying her family and friends in the home where she has lived since 1956.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Yingling Woodell Lewis and Louis Napoleon Woodell; husband, Carroll B. Evans; son, Joe Don Evans; infant daughter, Linda Gail Evans; brother L.N. Woodell; and sisters, Winnie Treece and Ruth Lewis. Survivors include four sons: James Evans (Jayne) and Jerry Evans (Marsha) of Clinton; Jack Evans (Shon) of Carlisle; John Evans (Barbara) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; one daughter, Jeannie Moore (Tracy) of Conway; and daughter-in-law, Carole Evans, of Clinton. She was “Granny” to 15 grandchildren: Angela Marshall (Chris), Carmen Henderson (Mark), Jayme Brown (Lance), Nancy Evans, Rhonda Evans, Robert Evans, Neeley Parks (Brent), Lindsey Maddox (Zack), Burton Evans (Glenda), Clark Evans (Sunny), Jim Rose (Beth), Alisha Stripling (Ryan), Mallory Preddy (Corey), Shannon Busby (Brian), and Whitney Malham (Matt). She had 25 great-grandchildren: Dustin Williams, Parker Williams, Addyson Marshall, Emersyn Marshall, Haley Kinggard, Colby Kinggard, Alex Miles, Sydney Brown, Jerod Brown, Dylan Evans, Johnny Parks, Anna Parks, Azalea Maddox, Kerigan Evans, Westen Evans, Jana Evans, Jaxson Evans, Alexis Atwell, Landon Rose, Keegan Rose, Lynleigh Preddy, Davis Stripling, Emma Busby, Adalyn Busby, and Molly Malham. She is also survived by a brother, Ed Lewis (Beverly) of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law Wilma Evans of Clinton; sister-in-law Mary Faye Woodell of Clinton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Clinton, Arkansas.Funeral service was 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, at Friendship Baptist Church, Clinton, Arkansas, with Pastor David Holcomb officiating. Linda Buckelew
Linda Sue Buckelew, 67, of Clinton, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Linda was born May 26, 1947, in Clinton to the late Curtis and Madgia (Carroll) Hillis. She is also preceded in death by sons Edward Wayne Buckelew and Kevin Lane Buckelew, and brother, Earnie Hooten (Janet).
Mrs. Buckelew was a dietitian.
She is survived by husband, Carl Wayne Buckelew; children Jason Buckelew, Michael Buckelew (Jerri), and Stacee Brown (Marty); sister Glinda Kidd (Bill); grandchildren Whitney Clayton, Dylan Buckelew, and Nina Fayad; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service to be held at Culpepper cemetery, at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12.
Wanda Blair
Wanda Lee Mizell Blair, 85, of Clinton passed away Friday July 4, 2014. Born April 19, 1929, to the late Jessie and Ella Hutchison Mizell in Scotland, Arkansas, Wanda was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith and loved sewing and making quilts.
Wanda is survived by two daughters, Brenda and husband Dave Clark of Chandler, Texas, Janet Blair of Clinton, Arkansas, and one son, Mike and wife Rhonda Blair of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren Brandy and husband Chris Reitter of Buena Vista, Colorado, Gabriael Parker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeremy Philpott of Tyler, Texas.; one sister, Polly and husband Wallace Weeks of Monroe, Louisiana. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Lloyd Blair, and two brothers, Sam Mizell and Billy Mizell.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 8, at Clinton Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Walnut Grove Church with Brother Donnie Love officiating. Interment to follow in the Walnut Grove cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to Clinton Funeral Service of Clinton.
Mildred Maxwell
Mildred M. Maxwell, 97, of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Clinton, Arkansas, died June 24, 2014.
A celebration of Mildred’s life was held July 1 at the First Baptist Church of Clinton, Arkansas. Burial was at Quattlebaum cemetery. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 211 1st Baptist Rd., Clinton, AR 72031.
Mildred was born June 24, 1917, the oldest child of Viola and Frank McKnight. She married
Denver D. Maxwell on September 24, 1945. She was a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Mildred taught school for 32 years beginning in a one-room schoolhouse in Arkansas and spending most of her teaching career in Derby, Kansas. She retired to Clinton, Arkansas. Mildred was always very active in her church and taught Sunday School until she was 90.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Mason (Wes); grandchildren Jad Mason (Sarah) and Ty Mason (Nicole); five great-grandchildren; sisters Marie Loftus, Macel Quattlebaum, Mada Knight (Hiram), and Ima Jo Bradley (Joe). She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denver; two sisters; and two brothers.
Mildred was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Imboden Creek Living Center for their tender care in her last days.
John Brown
John Edwin Brown, 96, of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Damascus, Arkansas, to Malcolm S. and Alma R. (Nash) Brown.
He is preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Dorothy Jean “Dot” Coffer Brown; his daughter, Julie Brown Whetsone; and brother Darl Dean Brown. John Ed is survived by one daughter, Laurel Brown and her husband Andy Tomarken; step-grandchildren Spencer and Norah Tomarken and honorary granddaughter Mescheal Rusche; his sister, Dorothy Lee; brother Joe L. Brown; son-in-law Bud Whetstone; and many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends and care-givers.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific, and was a civil engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers for over 30 years. For decades he served as a leader church, First Christian Church in Little Rock. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He was also a kind and compassionate man who touched many hearts. He was a wonderful manm, loved and respected by those who knew him.
