Bartley Mullins
Bartley Mullins, 43, of Marked Tree, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.
Mr. Mullins was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Faye Larrimore of Marked Tree and Carlotta Tyler of Lepanto; two brothers, James Mullins of Lepanto and Edward L. Mullins of Tyronza.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, at First Baptist Church in Marked Tree with Bro. Jim Duffell officiating.
Burial was in Garden Point Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.
Lt. Col. Jerry Lynn Watson Sr.
Lt. Col. Jerry Lynn Watson Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Marked Tree, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001.
Visitation will be at the Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Marked Tree from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today).
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 7, 2001 at the Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Marked Tree.
The Rev. Joe Sparks will be officiating, and interment will be in the Marked Tree Cemetery.
Katherine Manning
Katherine Manning, Osceola, Ark. died Oct. 15, 2001 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, East, Memphis, Tenn.
Born Oct. 26, 1919, she was 81.
The funeral will be Oct. 20, 1:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church, Osceola.
Rev. Cleveland Cain will officiate with burial at Whiteside Cemetery, Osceola.
Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Oct. 19, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, Osceola, Ark.
She is survived by her son, Sammy Whitfield, Blytheville, Ark, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Sara A. Atchley
Sara A. Atchley, 68, of Marked Tree, died Nov. 29, 2001 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Huntsville, Ala, Atchley is survived by three sisters: Peggy Davis of Fyffe, Ala; Clara Payton of Marked Tree; and Ruth Shankles of Pahokee, Fla; and four brothers: Hubert Atchley of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; George Atchley of Gurley, Ala; L.D. Atchley of Rome, Ga; and Robert Atchley of Springfield, Ill.
Graveside ceremonies were held Dec. 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Marked Tree Cemetery, with Bro. Larry Deaton officiating.
Interment followed at Marked Tree Cemetery.
Atchley was a retired waitress and of the Pentecostal faith.
Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree was in charge of the ceremony.
Mary Taylor Colby
Mary Taylor Colby, of Mayfield, Ky., died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at her home.
She was a retired school teacher of the Mayfield, Ind. School System and a member of the Mayfield First United Methodist Church.
Colby is survived by two sons, Stephen Colby of Paducah, Ky. and Taylor Colby of Jackson, Tenn.; two daughters, Caroline Kerr of South Bend, Ind. and Beth Deutschbauer of Wenonah, N.J.; two brothers, Edward Taylor of Houston and Robert McGill of Marked Tree; three sisters, Caroline T. Steen of Pine Apple, Ala., Lucy Stricklin of Brantley, Ala. and Betty Lu Pope of Memphis; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were at Marked Tree Cemetery on Sunday, February 10.
Cora Stover
Cora Stover, 54, of Forrest City died May 28, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
She was a member of the Beck Spur Baptist Church in Forrest City.
The funeral was Friday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. Wes Beavers officiated the ceremony.
Place of interment was at Tyronza Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Parker Lee Stover of Forrest City; two daughters, Pamela Feuston of Muncie, Ind. and Lori Jones of Danville, Ill.; two step-daughters, Valarie Andrews of Wynne and Renee Dunn of Memphis; one step-son, Randall Stover of Brownsville, Texas; one sister, Pat Woodard of Danville, Ill.; one brother, Mike Bann of Danville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were: C. J. Morgan, Julius Morgan, Randall Stover, Russell Andrews, Bob Overway and Bob Overway, Jr.
Billy Roy (Korky) King
Billy Roy (Korky) King, 54, of Marked Tree died July 25, 2002 at Three Rivers Nursing Center in Marked Tree.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a carpenter and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
The funeral was Monday, July 29 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel.
Jesse Hedges officiated the ceremony. Place of interment was at the Marked Tree Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Gary McCrory, Barry Cooper, Mike Scott, Robbie Bankston, Jay Louis Parker, Donald Gossage and C. W. Stotts.
He is survived by a son, Dustin King of Pensacola, Fla. and his mother, Lacye Lee King of Jonesboro.
William T. "Red" Swindle
William T. "Red" Swindle, 78, of Bartlett, Tenn. (formerly of Pocahontas) died Monday, November 18, 2002 at the home of his daughter in Bartlett, Tenn.
Born on Dec. 20, 1923 in Middlebrook, Ark., Swindle was a retired Arkansas State Police Trooper.
Swindle is survived by his wife, Arlene Spikes Swindle of the home, his daughter, Connie Herndon of Bartlett, and two brothers, Henry Eli Swindle of Doniphan, Mo. and Tom Ed Swindle of Pocahontas.
Swindle is also survived by two grandchildren, Tonya and Michael Herndon of Memphis.
Swindle is preceded in death by his sister, Jessie Roberts Perrin.
Funeral services were held last Thursday in the chapel of the McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with Harmon Seawel, Grant Killion and Terry Martin officiating.
Burial followed in Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, with Weldon "Pete" Evans, Steve Huddleston, Steve Schultz, W.A. Wren, Herbert Turner and Larry Kirk serving as pallbearers and James Danley and C.J. White serving as honorary pallbearers.
McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas had charge of the arrangements.
