Linda Luttrell
Linda Myrl Graham Luttrell, 61, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, February 2, 2003 at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg.
Born April 28, 1941, in Mathiston, Miss. to Dorothy Marie Clark and the late Earsie Lee Graham, Luttrell was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis.
She was a retired nurse and a former police officer in the city of Memphis.
Luttrell is survived by her mother, Dorothy Marie Richey of Senatobia, Miss.; step-father, Arthur Wasserman of Memphis; two daughters, Stephanie Walden of Marion and Kimberley Gilley and her husband, Cecil, of Marked Tree; one son, Robert Michael Carter and wife, Sonya, of Walls, Miss.; one sister, Pamela Kay Thomas of Memphis; and one half-brother, Dale Graham of Biloxi, Miss.
Additional survivors include ten grandchildren: Maria, Stephen, Justin, Erica, Jennifer, Janet, Marcia, C.J., Josh and Mikie.
Luttrell was preceded in death by her father Earsie Lee Graham and one son, Anthony Scott Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 7 at the United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany, Miss. with Bro. Kenny Adair officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ingomar Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today from 6-9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
United Funeral Service had charge of the arrangements.
John Robert Balek
John Robert Balek, 73, of Wilson, died on Friday, April 4, 2003 at the Baptist Hospital in Osceola.
Balek was born on November 30, 1929 in Chicago.
He was a business owner and retired salesman.
He was of the Catholic faith and was owner of Marie Grocery for 11 years.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Balek of Wilson; three daughters, Carol Lynn Balek Spann of Atlanta, Barbara Joyce Balek of Atlanta and Marnie Leigh Balek of Wilson; one brother, George Balek of Minocgum, Wis. and two grandchildren, Rory Thompson and Mikaela Spain of Atlanta.
Graveside services were held on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Bassett Cemetery with Father Pallo officiating.
Wilson Funeral Home, Osceola, had charge of the arrangements.
Erma Dean Baker
Erma Dean Baker, 46, of Luxora, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis.
She was born July 26, 1956 in Luxora to Allen Walters and Hattie Rhines.
She was a factory worker, a member of New Salem M.B. Church in Luxora, church choir member, and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Walters.
Survivors include her father, Allen Walters of Luxora; one step-son, John Baker Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; eight sisters, Bobbie Pugh, Dorothy Johnson, Mae Wimbley, Mable Garrett, and Judy Jacobs all of Luxora, Becky Whaley of Burdette, Patricia Ramsey of Osceola, and Martha Webbs of Chicago. Ill.; eight brothers, Jimmie Rufus and Allen Walters Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Clarence Walters of Jacksonville, Ark., Curtis Walters of Luxora, Lenell Walters of Marion, David Walters of Osceola, Charles Walters and Kenny Jones of Osceola.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 19 at 4 p.m. at New Salem M.B. Church in Luxora with Rev. McArthur Hampton officiating.
Burial followed at the Luxora Cemetery.
Pallbearers were friends and family.
Lillie Mae Blain
Lillie Mae Blain, 90, of Paragould, died on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born on September 25, 1912 in Mississippi, Blain was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Blain; parents, John W. and Penelope Cummings Cauley; six brothers and a grandson.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Blain of Sun City, Calif., Jesse Blain of Proctor, Ark., Bill Blain of Swartz Creek, Mich. and Jimmy Blain of Tyronza; two daughters, Delores Brooks of Paragould, Ark. and Elizabeth Ford of Flint, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the Colonial Chapel in the Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Neathery officiating.
Burial followed at Marked Tree Cemetery.
Visitation was held.
Heath Funeral Home in Paragould had charge of the arrangements.
Dwight Melvin Brown
Dwight Melvin Brown, 58, of Lepanto died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at his home.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Lepanto and was retired from American Greetings in Osceola.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Terry Brown of the home; one son, Tim Brown of Lepanto; four sisters, Dorothy Isbell of Osceola, Shirley Morris of West Memphis, Patsy Williams of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Linda Cox of West Memphis; two brothers, Ronnie Brown of West Memphis and Donald "Bo" Brown of Marion; and one grandson, Quade Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ruby West Brown.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at First Assembly of God in Lepanto, with the Revs. Steve Roberts, Kenneth Bass and Sylvester Brannon officiating.
Burial followed in Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
Visitation was held from noon-9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 at First Assembly of God in Lepanto.
Robert Charles "R.C." Barnes
Robert Charles "R.C." Barnes, 76, of Walnut Ridge, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Senatobia, Miss.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Rogers Barnes of Walnut Ridge; three sons, Troy Barnes of Southaven, Miss., Robert Barnes of Byhalia, Miss., and Victor Barnes of Senatobia; six daughters, Bobbie Jeans Oswalt of Nesbitt, Miss., Glenda Faye Crockett of Senatobia, Tina Davis of Byhalia, Dina Wittington of Batesville, Tabitha Walker of Pontotoc, Miss., and Linda Mullins of Walnut, Miss.; eight sisters, Mildred Young, Betty Sue Klenk and Carolyn Milton, all of Walnut, Billie Doris Sexton and Dorothy King, both of Tiplersville, Miss., Annie Vandandver of Meridian, Miss., Kay Youngblood of Victoria, Miss., and Faye Barnes of Blue Mountain, Miss.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Limon and Josie Shaw Barns.
Funeral services was held on Monday at Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola, with James Crawford officiating.
Burial followed in Bassett Cemetery.
