Arlene Swindle
Arlene Swindle, 82, of Bartlett, Tenn, died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
Born on July 18, 1920 in Ingram, Ark., Swindle was a homemaker.
Swindle is survived by her daughter, Connie Herndon of Bartlett and one brother, Bill Spikes of Pocahontas.
Swindle is also survived by two grandchildren, Tonya Herndon and Michael Herndon of Memphis.
Swindle was preceded in death by her husband, William "Red" Swindle, five sisters, Mazie Wright, Elza Wright, Ada Davis, Lyda Graham and Alous Presley and one brother, John Spikes.
Funeral services were held last Thursday at the chapel of the McNabb Funeral Home, with Harmon Seawel, Grant Killion and Terry Martin officiating.
Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, with Dawson Stone, Jerald Manning, Bud DuBois, Johnny Spikes, James Lemmons and Tim Wright serving as pallbearers.
Alphas Earl Anderson
Alphas Earl Anderson, 86, of Lepanto died Oct. 1, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola.
He was of the Baptist faith and a Deacon of the First Baptist Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the Engineer Corps No. 236.
He helped build Ledo Road in India.
He was a former mayor of Lepanto.
He was a member of the American Legion and a Mason charter member since 1948.
He was a member of the Lepanto Volunteer Fire Department having served 20 years for the fire department.
He was a secretary/treasurer of the fire department.
He was a farm manager and a manager of Portis Grain Elevator for many years.
He was a heavy equipment operator and was widely traveled.
He is survived by two daughters, Alpharetta Brewster of Lepanto and Jimmie Anderson of Memphis, two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lepanto.
Jim Duffel and Jessie Hodges will officiate the ceremony.
Place of interment will be at the Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.
Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto will handle the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lepanto or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lola Mae Hardin
Lola Mae Hardin, 90, of Marked Tree died June 1, 2002 at her home in Marked Tree.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Marked Tree Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
The funeral was Monday, June 3 at the Marked Tree Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
Brother Les Langley officiated the ceremony.
Place of interment was at the Marked Tree Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, June 2 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Marked Tree.
Active pallbearers were: Aaron Hardin, Michael Hardin, Mark Hardin, Josh Hardin, Kevin Butler and Jeremy Goldman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Hardin, Sr.; her mother and father, Amanda Rosella and John Dale Erwin; two sons, A.C. Hardin, Jr. and Doyle Hardin and two daughters, Betty Hardison and Judy Evon Hardin.
She is survived by five sons, Paul M. Hardin, Hoyle Hardin and Stanley Hardin, all of Marked Tree, Thurmond Hardin of Turrell and Kenneth Hardin of Payneway Station; two daughters, Elouise Butler of Jacksonville and Shirley Goldman of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Rosie Hutchison and Avo Hutchison, both of Tupelo, Miss.; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Robert Junior Wilson
Robert Junior Wilson, 47 of Marked Tree died March 22, 2002 at Northeast Arkansas Reginald Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was a fork lift driver for Mid-South Manufacturing Company, a lifelong resident of Marked Tree and graduate of Marked Tree High School.
He is survived by his mother, Daisy Wilson of Marked Tree; two sons, Derrick Wilson of Jonesboro and Kelton Lacy of Marked Tree; one sister, Peggy Turner of Marked Tree; and three brothers Benny C. Wilson of Green Bay, Wis., Tommy Wilson of Trumann and Michael Wilson of Marked Tree.
Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree had charge of services which were at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Marked Tree with Rev. G. C. Simpson, Sr. officiating with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Marked Tree.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Barnes, Raymond Sherrill, Larry Law, Charles Crockett, Tommy Wilson, Michael Wilson and Benny Wilson.
Honorary pallbearer was Derrick Wilson.
Opal Ann Earnhart
Opal Ann Earnhart, 81, of Caraway, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at her home.
Born in Williford, Earnhart was a homemaker, public school teacher and served in the priesthood as a teacher.
She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Caraway.
Earnhart is survived by her husband, Paul Earnhart; one son, Gary Paul Earnhart of Caraway; two daughters, Paula Ann Earnhart and Janie Sue Qualls, both of Lake City; one sister, Jewel Johnson of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Community of Christ Church in Caraway.
Visitation was Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
