Essie Mae Anderson
Mrs. Essie Mae Anderson, age 77, of Forrest City, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Crestpark Retirement Inn of Forrest City.
Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Durant, Miss., and was a retired housekeeper.
She is survived by four sons, Samuel Lucas of Jonesboro, Lindsey Anderson of Little Rock, Floyd Patton and David Anderson, both of Forrest City; five daughters, Ann Malone, Parmon Malone and Ora Dale Hinton, all of West Memphis, Ruthie Patton of Forrest City and Mary Stringfellow of Conway; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, from 3 to 4 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating the service. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Truel Ray Shipley
Mr. Truel Ray Shipley, age 83, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Shipley was boen May 12, 1918, in Leachville, and was the son of John Wesley Shipley Sr. and Maude Dunn Shipley. He lived in St. Francis County most of his life, was retired from Eaton-Yale Industries, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Shipley and Hubbert Shipley; and one sister, Ella Hawk.
Mr. Shipley married Cahtherine Perry in 1949, and she survives him, along with two sons, Larry Shipley of North Little Rock and Jerry Shipley of Marion; two daughters, Diane Busby of Forrest City and Carolyn Milholen of Hot Springs; three sisters, Bertha Romine, Stella Fay Shields and Marcell Reeves; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Shipley will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Baptist Homecare and Hospice.
Miss Michelle Denice Swanigan
Miss Michelle Denice Swanigan, age 31, of Forrest City, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Forrest City.
Miss Swanigan was born July 13, 1970 in Hughes, and was a secretary.
She is survived by two sons, Travis Antonio Dobbins and Michael Devonta Hilliard, both of Forrest City; a daughter, Matisha Carlnese Dobbins of Forrest City; her mother, Anna R. Collins of Forrest City; a brother, Eddie Collins of Forrest City and a sister, Stephanie Woodard of Forrest City.
Visitation for Miss Swanigan will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, from 12 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Miss Swanigan will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at 2 p.m., at United Christian M.B. Church with Rev. Norris Latham Jr. officiating the service. A.C. Wilson
Mr. A.C. Wilson, age 73, of Trumann, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Trumann.
Mr. Wilson was born March 5, 1928 in Manila, and was the son of the late Ernest and Onie Martin Wilson. He was a retired industrial worker, a Baptist, and lived in Trumann for over 40 years.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Frazier Wilson of the home; a daughter, Celia Campbell of Trumann; a brother, Alvin Wilson of Forrest City; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for Mr. Wilson will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel Funeral Home, with Bro. Murray Ray officiating the service. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Ida P. Baker
Mrs. Ida P. Baker, age 98, of Gary, Ind., formerly of Forrest City, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Methodist Hospital Northlake.
Mrs. Baker was born June 23, 1903, in Widener, and was the daughter of the late Tom and Armette Greenlee. She retired after serving 48 years as a principal in the St. Francis County School systems and was a member of the CME Church where she was on the missionary board.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Pennington and Emmitt Baker; a son; two sisters; two brothers and two granddaughters.
She is survived by six sons, Terry Pennington of Gary, Ind., Percy Pennington of Chicago, Ill., Emmett Baker of St. Louis, Mo., Albert Baker of Richmond, Calif., A.D. Baker of New York, N.Y. and Emery Baker of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Susie Clay and Estelle Jackson, both of Memphis; a sister, Armetta Davis of Gary, Ind.; 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Baker will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, from 12 to 8 p.m., with family hour from 7 to 8 p.m., at Guy and Allen Funeral Chapel. Lena C. Johnson
Mrs. Lena C. Johnson, age 75, of Palestine, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mrs. Johnson, born Jan. 9, 1927, in Palestine, was the daughter of Berylotha Mathena and Rosie Blankenship Mathena.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by five daughters, Rosie Williams, Mary Smith, Gladys Ferguson, Ann L. Parker and Linda Johnson, all of Detroit, Mich.; eight sons, Jerry Johnson and Willie Johnson, both of Detroit, Mich., James Johnson of Forrest City, Erna B. Johnson of North Carolina, Clarence Johnson of St. Louis, Anthony Johnson of Florida, Tony Johnson of Norfolk, Va. and Thomas Johnson of Baton Rouge, La.; two brothers, Clarence Mathena of Chicago, Ill. and Beryl Mathena of Jackson, Miss.; 36 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Cornelia "Bobbie" Jones
Mrs. Cornelia "Bobbie" Jones, age 52, of Little Rock, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Jones, born April 4, 1949, in Forrest City, was the daughter of Amos Williams Sr. and Arena Poole Williams.
Mrs. Jones is survived by four daughters, Leten Davis, Henrietta Jones, Marie Jones and Amey Williams, all of Little Rock; two sons, Arthue Jones and Christopher Jones, both of Little Rock, nine sisters, Ethel Davis, Joann Ivory, Shirley Williams, Carolyn Stideum, Addie Hare, Dianne Evans, Katharine Kidd, Elizabeth Williams and Beverly Hampton, all of Forrest City; seven brothers, Odell Williams and Charles Williams, both of St. Louis, Amos Williams Jr., Darnell Williams, Alfred Williams, Roosevelt Williams and Jeffery Williams, all of Forrest City; 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Edna Crumbly Reason
Mrs. Edna Crumbly Reason, age 100, of Widener, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Reason was born June 9, 1901 in Brinkley, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by five sons, Julian Crumbly, Ralph Crumbly and Joe Louis Crumbly, all of Chicago, Isaac Crumbly of Ft. Valley, Ga. and Jack Crumbly of Widener; five daughters, Florine Kelly of Detroit, Mich., Catherine Manning of Maywood, Ill., Hazel Smith of Forrest City, Jeanette Wiley of Blytheville and Edna Thompson of Las Vegas, Nev.; 38 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Reason will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Reason will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at 1 p.m at St. Luke A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Willie B. Sparkman Sr.
Mr. Willie B. Sparkman Sr., age 68, of Carlisle, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Baptist Health in Little Rock.
Mr. Sparkman, formerly of Palestine, was born, Aug. 15, 1933, in Palestine and was the son of E. L. Sparkman and Mary Bowman Ross.
Mr. Sparkman is survived by a daughter, Mary L. Sparkman of Marianna; a son, Willie B. Sparkman Jr. of Chicago, Ill. and an aunt, Pearlena Bolden, of Forrest City.
A visitation service for Mr. Sparkman will be held, today, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. in the chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Graveside services for Mr. Sparkman will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at 12:30 p.m. at West Cemetery in Palestine with Elder Lloyd Bolden officiating, under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
