Mary Elizabeth Manley
Mary Elizabeth Manley, age 80, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
She was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Earle, to Charles and Jimmie Throgmorten Patterson. She lived in Earle before moving to St. Francis County in 1946. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
She married Earl Manley in 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by two daughters, Nona Cook of Forrest City and Mary Burns of Palestine; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. Memorials are asked to be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Palestine, or the Valley View Christian Center in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Curtis Houston Rose
Curtis Houston Rose, age 62, of Marianna, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis.
He was born Oct. 30, 1936, in Lee County to Jessie and Laura Ramsey Rose. He was a grain dryer and a member of the First united Pentecostal Church in Marianna.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Rose of Marianna; a son, Mark Rose of Kannapolis, NC; three daughters, Lisa Vowan of Forrest City, Laura Jackson of Marianna, Jennifer Oldham of Rogers; a brother, Johnny Rose of Newark; two sisters, Virginia Coates of Shawnee, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, with burial in Marianna Memorial Park. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Crawford York
Margaret Crawford York, age 54, of Clarksdale, Miss., died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Batesville Manor Nursing Home in Batesville.
She was a nurse for Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Habard of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one son, Ricky York of Gunnison; three sisters, Shirley Jones and Carolyn Herren, both of Clarksdale and Janis Leake of Forrest City; and a brother, John Crawford of West Chester, Pa.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at 11:30 a.m. at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. National Funeral Home of Clarksdale is in charge of the arrangements.
Curtis Houston Rose
Mr. Curtis Houston Rose, aged 62, of Marianna, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis.
He was born Oct. 30, 1936 in Lee County, the son of Jessie H. Rose and Laura Ramsey Rose.
He was a retired grain dryer employee, and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Marianna.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Mae Rose, of Marianna; a son, Mark Dwayne Rose of Kannapolis N.C., three daughters, Lisa Ann Vowan of Forrest City, Laura Teresa Jackson of Marianna and Jennifer Lynn Oldham of Rogers; a brother, Johnny Rose of Newark; two sisters, Virginia Coats of Shawnee, Okla. and Evelyn Bearden of Nesbit, Miss; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Pete, J.W. and Homer Rose.
Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 26 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 27 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Marianna, with burial following in Marianna Memorial Park.
Delphia Farris Sisk
Delphia Farris Sisk, age 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
She was born in Big Flat and was the daughter of George Preston Farris and Belle Sutterfield Farris. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by a son, A.C. Sisk Jr. of Memphis; a daughter, Dee Millard of Marianna; a sister, Louvre Farris Moore of Marianna; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Sisk Sr.; a brother, Kyle Preston Farris; and two sisters, Troyce Farris Reece and Edra Enola Farris.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Marianna Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Anderson and Rev. Gary Sims officiating under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Mary Armstrong
Mary Armstrong, age 94, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Oakland, Miss., on April 14, 1905. She was a farmer.
She is survived by two daughters, Arbella Jones of Forrest City and Vennie Mae Young of Proctor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Hampton officiating. Burial services will be held at the Paradise Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at Clay Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Charlie Clayton, age 92, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Lucinda Clayton of Forrest City; one grandchild and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at 4 p.m. at Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary.
Nurlene Rogers
Nurlene Rogers, age 46, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis.
She was born in Forrest City on July 8, 1953.
She is survived by her mother, Jane Ella Rogers of Forrest City; one son, Victor Rogers of Forrest City; four brothers, Odis Rogers of Memphis, Nathan Rogers Jr. and Gerry Rogers, both of Forrest City, and Derry Rogers of Bloomington, Ind.; four sisters, Annette Mason, Pamela Rogers, Renota Rogers and Eunice Rogers, all of Forrest City. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathan Rogers Sr.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Taylor's Chapel C.M.E. Church with Rev. Jesse Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery with Clay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Clay Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
Mary Sue Bradley
Mary Sue Bradley, age 65, of Madison, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of Macedonia M.B. Church for over 35 years and was active in Senior Choir and Mother Board. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Bradley of Madison; one daughter, Beverly Griffin of Tulsa, Okla.; seven sons, Curtis Bradley of Madison, John Bradley of West Memphis, Harry Bradley of Memphis, Edward Bradley of Aurora, Calif., Terry Bradley of Los Angeles, Calif., Michael Bradley of Dallas, Texas and Isaac Bradley of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Fannie Townsend and Elizabeth West, both of Portageville, Mo.; one brother, M.L. Smith of Sikeston, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church in Madison with Rev. L.Z. Jones officiating with burial following in Madison Cemetery.
Kattie Mays
Kattie Mays, age 88, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at her home.
She was born Dec. 5, 1910, to Green and Luberta Jackson in Mississippi, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Herman Mays of Peoria, Ill., and Johnny Mays of Forrest City; four daughters, Beatrice Williams of Madison, Eddie Veasley, Dicie Tobar, and Corine Williams, all of Forrest City; three sisters, Martha Lucas and Modie Pigee of Freeport, Ill., and Endia Williams of Flint, Mich.; one brother, Armsted Jackson of Freeport, Mich.; 73 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Clay Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at United Christian MB Church with Rev. John Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery with Clay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
