Louis Steward
Louis Steward, age 73, of Madison, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 and his home.
He was the owner of Steward Taxi Cab and was a taxi cab driver for 53 years.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Steward of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Audrey Steward of Forrest City and Loretta Webb of Saigma, Mich.; three sons, Starlin Steward and Rudolph Steward, both of Forrest City and Clifton Steward of Topeka, Kan.; three sisters, Bessie Freeling and Ruby Sims, both of Sidney, Ohio and Louvenia Starks of Madison; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. S.W. Baker Sr. officiating with burial following at Casteel Cemetery.
W.L. "Dub" Jackson
W.L. "Dub" Jackson, age 75, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1923, in the Newcastle community to Wesley and Calista Jackson. He was a retired employee of Forrest City Machine Works and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jackson of Forrest City; a daughter, Judy Armstrong of Forrest City; two sons, Mike Jackson and Timmy Jackson, both of Forrest City; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Thomason officiating with burial to follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Blanche Clay
Blanche Clay, age 97, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
She was born Feb. 11, 1902, in Colt, to John and Hattie Jones Warren.
She is survived by a son, Claude Berry of Forrest City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at noon, at Woodhouse Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Outley officiating.
Burial to follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
W.C. "Dub" Jackson
W.C. "Dub" Jackson, age 75, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at his home.

Irene Trice Walker, age 72, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at her home.
She was born April 20, 1927, in Lee County, to Trenton and Lennie Branch Trice.
She is survived by her father, Trenton Trice of Moro; six daughters, Catherine Ouwsu of St. Paul, Minn., Florine Sanders, Debra Shaw, Betty Walker, all of Forrest City, Patricia Walker and Helena Rainey of Fayetteville, N.C.; five sons, Herman Walker, Eddie Walker, Michael Walker, all of Indianapolis, Ind., Jerry Walker and Joe Walker, both of Forrest City; one step-son, Robert Walker of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Betsy Williams of Milwaukee, Wis., Thelma Cristie of Indianapolis, Ind., Ira Jean Trice of East St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, U.T. Palmer and Leroy Cross of Indianapolis, Ind., Orie Trice of Moro, Ocie Trice of Chicago, Ill.; 35 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Woodhouse Mortuary Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at the United Christian M.B. Church with Rev. J.W. Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Garden Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Georgia People Lacey
Georgia People Lacey, age 62, of Chicago, Ill., died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at her home. She was born April 12, 1937, in Forrest City.
She is survived by four daughters, Hellen Reeves of Forrest City, Georgia Paige, Lynette Jenkins and Charlotte Winters, all of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Melvin Peoples of Little Rock, Barry Lacey of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Vester Franklin of Chicago, Ill., Eula Humphreys of Memphis; four brothers, M.T. Dedner, Sherman Dedner Jr., Sonny Peoples, all of Forrest City, Sylvester Peoples of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10., 1999, at Woodhouse Mortuary Chapel.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at the Church of the Living God with Elder M.T. Dedner officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Malinda Harris
Malinda Harris, age 89, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mrs. Harris was born, July 9, 1910, in Haynes, to Earnest Overton and Josie Bowden Overton.
She is survived by one sister, Olie Candy of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three brothers, Edmond Overton and Cleveland Bowden, both of Kalamazoo, Mich., James Overton, of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Harris will be Friday, April 14, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove M. B. Church with Rev. Smith Foy officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Ronnie Lee Johnson
Ronnie Lee Johnson, age 44, of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
He was born, Aug. 18, 1955, in Forrest City and was the son of John L. Johnson Sr. and Irene Marris Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by six sisters, Ivery King, Shirley Johnson and Juanita Jones, all of Forrest City, Annie L. Simmon, of Cleveland, Ohio, Charlotte Simmon, of Little Rock, Jacquline Johnson, of Conway; five brothers, Theo Johnson, John L. Johnson Jr., Francis Johnson, and Robert Johnson, all of Forrest City, and James P. Johnson, of Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. at New Light M. B. Church with Rev. Jesse McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Retha Gentry Pollock Murry
Mrs. Retha Gentry Pollock Murry, age 81, of Simpson, La., died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Alexandria, La.
Mrs. Murry was a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and earned her R. N. degree at the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis. She later served as an Instructor of Nursing at UT and worked for Leesville State School as a Cottage Life Supervisor. Mrs. Murry worked at Baton Rouge General Hospital as a Registered Nurse, before retiring. She helped establish the Vernon Parish chapter of the League of Women Voters, was active with the American Cancer Society as a volunteer counselor for breast cancer survivors and was a member of Simpson Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert E. Murry, Sr.
She is survived by three sons, Robert E. Murry, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Harold Murry of Alexandria, La., and Franklin Murry of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Marilynn Murry Parker of Pineville, La.; one sister, Juanita Pollock Hyatt, of Forrest City; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mrs. Murry were held Monday, April 10, 2000, in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, of Alexandria, La., under the direction of Hixson Brothers, of Alexandria, La.
Willie Sykes
Mr. Willie Sykes, age 91, of Heth, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at Crest Park Skilled Center in Forrest City.
Mr. Sykes is survived by five daughters, Joyce Brown of Widener, Geraldine Pleasure of Heth, Shirley Jackson, Barbara Sykes and Mildred Price , all of Chicago, Ill.; four sons, Joseph Sykes of Forrest City, Uster Sykes of Oakland, Calif., Dourglas Sykes of Chicago, Ill. and Robert Sykes of Widener; three sisters, Reola Tunstall and Artie Mae Sykes of St. Louis, Mo., and Izora McEwen of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Eddie Joe Sykes of Heth, Floyd Sykes of Earle and Clyde Sykes of Chicago, Ill.; 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Sykes will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Chapel, South, in West Memphis. Services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2000, at noon, at Friendship M. B. Church in Heth, with burial in Paradise Garden. Anthony Funeral Home in West Memphis is in charge of services.
