Larry Donell Banks
Mr. Larry Donell Banks, age 48, of Marianna, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. Mr. Banks was a line worker at Sanyo.
Mr. Banks is survived by his daughter, Amber Banks of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Larry Banks Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Vera Gipson; three sisters, Evelyn Shackford of Marianna, Relinda Davis of Moro, Alonda Harris of Chicago Ill.; six brothers, Maxie Banks of Helena, George Banks of Memphis, Victor Gipson of Florence, Ala., Robert Gipson, Little Rock, and Darye Ellis and Shaeen Ellis both of Chicago Ill.
Visitation for Mr. Banks will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, from 12 to 5 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Lee Senior High School with Rev. Justin Doyel officiating. Burial will follow in Gill Cemetrey under the direction of J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.
Alvin Terrell Lynch
Mr. Alvin Terrell Lynch, age 42, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in West Memphis.
Mr. Lynch, born Dec. 19, 1959, was the son of Lillie Mae Lynch of Forrest City. He was a farmer and is survived by his mother; three sons, Alvin Hunt, Kevin Lynch and Andrew Hunt, all of Forrest City; a daughter, Angel Hunt of Forrest City; five sisters, Nattie Spencer of St. Louis, Mo., Clarine Boone and Levertha Siler, both of Portsmouth, Va., Ivory Jean Henderson and René Ward both of Forrest City and four brothers, Preston Lynch Jr. of Oakland, Calif., Overtis Lynch of Rochester, N.Y., Mack Aurther Lynch of North Little Rock and Fredderick Lynch of Forrest City.
Visitation services for Mr. Lynch will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Prosperity M.B. Church with Rev. Uzziah Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Louie Teel McBee
Mr. Louie Teel McBee, age 83, of Okeechobee, Fla, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Lawnwood Medical Center in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
Mr. McBee was owner and operator of Yorktown Dry Cleaners and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Okeechobee, Fla.
Mr. McBee is survived by his wife Anna L. McBee of the home; one daughter, Charlotte Hunter of Harrison; two sons, Larry McBee of Memphis, Mark McBee of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Plass of Memphis; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. McBee will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis. Burial will follow in Bassett Cemetery in Bassett under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Willie Cochran
Mr. Willie Cochran, age 79, of Colt, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Cochran, is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cochran of the home; four sons, Frank L. Cochran and Willie L. Cochran, both of Memphis and Waymon I. Cochran of Colt and Eric N. Cochran, both of Colt; seven daughters, Willie M. Wilson of Detroit, Mich., Christean Cottingham of Hishana Hill, Ohio, Kizzie M. Cochran of Memphis, Mary L. Cochran and Barbara I. Cochran, both of Houston, Texas, Flora J. Williams of Terrell, Texas and Carolyn I. Thomas, both of Port-St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Georgia M. Pattella of Evanston, Ill.; four brothers, Frank Cochran Jr. and George Cochran, both of Forrest City, Gene Cochran of Detroit, Mich., and Robert Cochran of Colt; 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Cochran will be held Friday, October 25, 2002, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Woodard Funeral Services in Wynne. Funeral services for Mr. Cochran will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 915 E. Bridges Ave., in Wynne with Bro. Willie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery in Colt under the direction of Woodard Funeral Services in Wynne.
Gordon Davis
Mr. Gordon Davis, age 72, of Sheridan, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002.
Mr. Gordon was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Forrest City, the son of Gordon Davis Sr. and Myrtle Roberts Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a sergeant in the Korean War. He was also retired from Westinghouse Electric, Fruehauf, Extra Lease, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Little Creek Baptist Church.
In 1955 he married Barbara Rhoden and she survives him along with a son, Alex Davis of Sheridan; a daughter, Nancy Paty of Sheridan; two brothers, Wallace Davis of Adrian, Mich., Bobby Davis of Forrest City; two sisters, Gail Jones of Forrest City, Florence Baty of Widener; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Little Creek M. B. Church with Rev. Robert Ewing and Rev. Harold Epperson officiating. Burial followed in Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
L.D. Herbert
Mr. L.D. Herbert, age 77, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Herbert was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Earle, the son of Harry Edward Herbert and Mary Lace Herbert. He lived in Forrest City most of his life, was the owner and operator of L.D. Herbert Garage and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Forrest City.
Mr. Herbert married Verma Jean Lincoln in 1948 and she survives him along with a son, Danny Herbert of Forrest City; a daughter, Diane Mallett of Forrest City; four brothers, Eugene Herbert and Aaron Herbert both of Morrilton, Lloyd Herbert and Kenneth Herbert both of Little Rock; four sisters, Helen Pitts and Linda Jones both of Morrilton, Glenda Jones of Jacksonville and Sarah Mitchell of Malvern; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for Mr. Herbert will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at the Assembly of God Church at 11 a.m. with Bro. Gary Chapman and Bro. Tom Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Billy G. Neal
Mr. Billy G. Neal, age 63, of Wynne, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
Mr. Neal, born Nov. 26, 1938, in Wynne, was the son of Bernice Grodes Neal and Rosie M. Norvell Neal. He was a resident of Cross County for all of his life and was employed by Sanyo Manufacturing. He was a Mason and a member of Rensellar Vann Lodge #494 in Wynne. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and had served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve. He was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church in Wynne.
Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Jones Neal of Wynne; two sons, Chris G. Neal of Ward and John C. Neal of Oak Grove, Mich.; a daughter, Nanette A. Coats of Forrest City; a sister, Marsha Dance of Berry, Ken., and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Neal.
Funeral services for Mr. Neal were held Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Rev. Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in McElroy Cemetery in Wynne under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home.

Susie Pauline Gilbert Schmitz
Mrs. Susie Pauline Gilbert Schmitz, age 86, of Wynne and formerly of Colt, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Wynwood Nursing Center in Wynne.
Mrs. Schmitz was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Cross County, the daughter of William Fletcher and Mary M. Waymire Gilbert. She was a longtime resident of Colt, a homemaker and a drug store clerk for 10 years and a member of the Truth Ministries Church near Wynne.
Mrs. Schmitz married Garland Lee Schmitz in 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Ray Schmitz. She is survived by a son, Eddie Schmitz of Wynne; four daughters, Monica Schmitz McWhirter of Montgomery, Ala., Phyllis Schmitz Ellis of Deer, Judy Schmitz Hall of Wynne, Tommye Schmitz McElroy of Jonesboro; a sister, Edna Munn of Wynne; one brother, Edward Gilbert of Forrest City; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Schmitz will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funersal services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Berlon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne.

Anna Mae Whittenton
Mrs. Anna Mae Whittenton, age 82, of Colt, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Whittenton was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Cleveland, Texas, the daughter of D.D. Daniels and Clara I. Newsom Daniels. She lived in St. Francis County for most of her life. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Whittenton married Ralph Whittenton in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Bieber of Colt, Dale Bieber of Palestine, and four grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Whittenton will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Whittenton will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, graveside in Forrest Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Johnnie Mae Jackson-Lockhart
Mrs. Johnnie Mae "Lil Baby" Jackson-Lockhart, age 76, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002.
Mrs. Lockhart, born Dec. 12, 1925, in Marianna, to Walter Jackson and Sarah Covington-Jackson. She was a Baptist by faith.
In 1943, Mrs. Lockhart, married Melvin Lockhart Sr., and he survives her along with eight children, Melvin Lockhart Jr., Walter Lockhart, Bright Lockhart, Betty Swift, Reginald Lockhart, Sandra Roberts and Pat Lockhart, all of Forrest City and Evelyn Anderson of Orlando Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a child Maxie Lockhart.
Visitation services for Mrs. Lockhart will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, from noon to 5 p.m. at Marianna Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jesse McClure officiating.
John Lee Smith
Mr. John Lee Smith, age 74, of Heth, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Cloteal Smith of Heth; two daughters, Susie Smith of Chicago, Ill., and Alice McFarland of Dallas, Texas; seven sons, John H. Smith and Oscar Smith, both of Memphis, Leroy Smith of Forrest City, James Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Sgt. Gary Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Tech. Sgt. Gregory Smith of Naples, Italy and Jerry Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; five sisters, Callie M. Perry, Cora Adams, Gerald Evans and Bobbie Smith, all of Blytheville and Lillie Moore of St. Louis, Mo.; three brothers, George Smith and Eugene Smith, both of Heth and Willie Smith of Fort Pierce, Fla.; 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
