Rev. Hurley V. Grissom Sr.
Rev. Hurley V. Grissom Sr., age 84, of Decatur, Ala., died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital.
Rev. Grissom was born Sept. 11, 1915 in Felton, Ark., to I.Z. Grissom and Alice Richard Grissom Aldridge. He was a C.M.E. minister in Michigan for 45 years and was a World War II US Army Veteran.
He is survived by a son, Rev. Hurley V. Grissom Jr, of Decatur, Ala.; a daughter, Gloria Crain, of Southfield, Mich.; two brothers, Ulas Aldridge and Edward Aldridge, of Forrest City; two sisters Precious Pritchett and Sedeia Coppage, both of Forrest City; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, at Garner Memorial C.M.E. Church in Decatur, Ala., with Rev. Hurley V. Grissom Jr. officiating. Burial was held in Rocky Hill Cemetery under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Home.
James E. Parks
James E. Parks, age 67, of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Central in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Parks was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Rossville, Tenn., and was an assembler.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Parks, of Forrest City; four sons, Ernest Parks, of Forrest City, James Parks Jr, of Detroit, Mich., Curtis Cavette, of Summerville, Tenn., Stanley Parks, of Whiteville, Tenn.; three daughters, Vanessa Isom, of Forrest City, Carolyn Parks, of Memphis, Tenn., Vickie Parks, of Atlanta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Clay Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services will be Friday, April 28, at Days Temple Church of God in Christ at 1 p.m. with Elder John Henry Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Robert Earl 'Bob' Teeter
Robert Earl "Bob" Teeter, age 70, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Teeter was born Dec. 11, 1929 in Pottsville to Ray Teeter and Virginia Wade Adams. He was a long time resident of West Helena, a Korean war veteran, served as mayor of West Helena for 16 years and was President of the Municipal League in 1992. He was a former member of West Helena Baptist Church and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Porter Teeter, of Jonesboro; a daughter, Terri Norman, of West Helena; a brother, Edward Teeter, of Paragould; a sister, Elaine Hudson, of Harrison; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Services will be held graveside Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Forrest Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Mike Martin officiating. Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Branch
James Branch, age 68, of Forrest City, died Friday, April 21, 2000.
He is survived by one cousin, Nola Digby, of Chicago, Ill.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2000, at Kennedy Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Theodis Cochran Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Lucinda Value Clayton
Lucinda Value Clayton, age 85, of Earle, formerly of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Lonoke to Levi Value and Mary Value. She was beautician for 40 years.
She is survived by one grandson, Archie Wright, of Earle, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2000, at Woodhouse Mortuary from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, April 29, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Rising Sun Baptist Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will be in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
McCoy Ingram
McCoy Ingram, age 78, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Colt, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his home.
He is survived by two sisters, Dethena Miller, of Colt and Pearl Secrest, of Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers, Homer Hall of Cleveland, Ohio, Herschel Hall of Bedford, Ohio, and Elgin Ingram and Dewitt Ingram, both of Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2000, at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services will be Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Stanley Grove M.B. Church in Colt at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Stanley Grove Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Colonel Lowell A. Stiles
Colonel Lowell A. Stiles, age 82, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Honolulu.
Mr. Stiles was born Arkansas and was a retired officer of the United State Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Stiles, of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son, John Stiles, of North Carolina; two daughters, Bini Easley, of Kona, Hawaii, Carson Stiles-Maxilom, of Oahu, Hawaii; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2000, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery.
A. L. Conder
Mr. A. L. Conder, age 69, of Forrest City, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Born August, 25, 1920, in Paris, Texas, he was the son of Murray Vester Conder and Myrtle Collom Conder. He was a retired truck driver for Roadway Truck Line, a Korean War veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge of Forrest City.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Conder, of Forrest City; two sons, Jonathan "Johnny" Conder and Kevin "Craig" Conder, both of Forrest City; one daughter, Leora Anita Grany, of Forrest City; one brother, Sam Conder of New Mexico; three sisters, Betty Conder, of Forrest City, Nellie Russell, of Arizona and Freddie Scooter, of Washington, D. C.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Morgan Chapel with Bro. William Witcher officiating. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Wilson Morgan
Mr. Wilson Morgan, age 78, of Colt, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Morgan was born January 9, 1922, in Cross County, and was the son of John William Morgan and Dovie Lee Williams Morgan. He was a farmer and peach grower.
Mr. Morgan married Lucille Cook in 1941, and she preceded him in death in 1989. He had two sons that preceded him in death, Bobby Joe Morgan and Kenneth Morgan.
He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Cartillar, of Wynne; two sons, Larry Morgan and Randall Morgan, both of Wynne; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Morgan were held Monday, April 3, 2000, in the chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed in Loughridge Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Louise James
Thelma Louise James, age 73, of Marion, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mrs. James is survived by one son, Johnny James, of Marion; one daughter, Carol Bloodworth, of Marion; five brothers, V. O. Gracey, N. L. Gracey, Billy Wayne Gracey, Bobby Gracey and Howard Gracey Jr, all of Forrest City; two sisters, Jean Fleming of Colt and Juanita Gray of Paramont, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2000, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Forrest City with the services to follow in the Chapel at 7 p.m. Burial will follow under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Sammy Parchman, Jr.
Sammy Parchman, Jr., age 63, of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 1, 2000.
Mr. Parchman was preceded in death by seven children and is survived by 10 sons, Ervin Parchman, Sammy Parchman, Darrell Parchman, Fredrick Parchman and Shontellis Parchman, all of Forrest City, Calvin Parchman, Rickey Parchman and Danny Parchman, all of Detroit, Mich., Jimmy Parchman of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lee Henry Parchman of Fayetteville; 10 daughters, Carolyn Parchman and Alice Taylor, both of Forrest City, Janice Parchman of Detroit, Mich., Joyce Parchman, Loistine Williams, Darnice Parchman and Carol Parchman, all of Inkster, Mich., Ruby Jean Kidd of Studersville, Ohio, Tracy Smith and Danielle Parchman, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Betty Anthony and Willene Ivory, both of Forrest City; 60 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, April 7, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the chapel of Kennedy Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Beth Salem M.B. Church. Rev. Vernon Faulkner and Rev. Lee Hampton will officiate. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
