Lillie Jane Wilson
Lillie Jane Wilson, age 82, of Ivan, died Monday, April 3, 2000, in Dallas County Hospital in Fordyce.
Mrs. Wilson, the daughter of Charlie Pennington and Pearl Green Pennington, was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Dallas County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Franklin Wilson and one son, Tommy Wilson.
She is survived by four sons, Bud Pennington of Chugiak, Alaska, Charles Wilson and Marvin Wilson, both of Fordyce, and Frank Wilson of Hermitage; seven daughters, Kathy Flowers and Patsy Marsh, both of Colt, Dorothy Nolan and Francis Gilbert, both of Sheridan, Judy Saeler and Sharon Mitchell, both of Kingsland and Virginia Gilbert, of Hampton; 29 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Wilson will be Thursday, April 6, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Benton Funeral Home. Rev. Horace Dunn and Rev. David Jimmerson will officiate. Burial will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
Hannah Oliver Landrum
Mrs. Hannah Oliver Landrum, 72, of Forrest City, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
Mrs. Landrum attended the University of Arkansas, Arkansas State University and Peabody College, where she earned a Master's Degree in Library Science. She was a retired elementary school librarian.
Mrs. Landrum is survived by a daughter, Susie Landrum, of Forrest City; a son, Jim Landrum, of Memphis; a brother, Jim Oliver, of Indiana, Penn.; and one grandchild.
There will be a private graveside service for Mrs. Landrum held at Corning Cemetery in Corning Arkansas.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Forrest City Public Library.
Hugh Lee Wilson
Hugh Lee Wilson, age 87, of Forrest City, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Wilson was born Dec. 10, 1912, in Arkabutla, Miss., and was the son of Joseph Richard Wilson and Emma Mae Sledge Wilson. He lived in Forrest City most of his life, was a retired school teacher for the Forrest City Public Schools and was the a member of the Lions Club for 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II where he receive a Purple Heart and a was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bette Dunham in 1986.
He married Elinor Lee Burns in 1990 and she survives him along with a son, Stanley Melson, of Forrest City; a daughter, Mrs. David "Ruth" Baldwin, of Forrest City; a brother, Joe Wilson of California and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials are to be made to Calvary Christian School or the First United Methodist Church.
William B. "Bill" Swan Jr.
William B. "Bill" Swan Jr., age 65, of Forrest City, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at Baptist East Hospital.
Mr. Swan was born March 26, 1935, in Forrest City, to William Bruce Swan Sr., and Louise Pettus. He was a life member of the NRA and First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Bruce Swan, of Piggott; two daughters, Nancy Randle, of Benton, Mary Katherine Swan, of Memphis; one brother, Fred Swan, of Marion and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Pettus. Burial will be in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Hugh Bradley Booker
Mr. Hugh Bradley Booker, age 60, of Bald Knob, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Booker is survived by two sons, Allen Booker and Randy Booker, both of Forrest City; one daughter, Tamula Bridges, of Bald Knob; three brothers, Lloyd Booker, of Colt, James Booker, of Akin, Ill., Sammy Booker, of Florence, Ala.; three sisters, Louise Luttrell, of Iuka, Miss., Earlene Kay, of Tishomingo, Miss., Francies Jones, of Tuscumbia, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Booker were held, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in the Chapel of Ludlam Funeral Home in Iuka, Miss., with Bro. Johnny Malone officiating. Burial followed in Morris Hill Cemetery in Ansboro, Ala. under the direction of Ludlam Funeral Home.
Arine Buchanan
Mrs. Arine Buchanan, age 61, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Buchanan was born March 3, 1939, in Forrest City to Henry Defrance and Gertrude Brazil Defrance.
She is survived by seven daughters, Darlen Hall, of Ben Harbor, Mich., Viola Rogers, Dessie Buchanan, both of Little Rock, Annie Randle, Mary A. Buchanan, Reginia Buchanan and Enora Bates, all of Forrest City; three sons, Sterling Buchanan, Charles Buchanan, both of Forrest City, and Albert Buchanan, of Little Rock; one sister, Bertha Boles, of Forrest City; three brothers, Charles Defrance, of Forrest City, Roosevelt Defrance, of St. Louis, Mo., Leon Defrance, of Little Rock; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Buchanan will be Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Olive Lee Roy Pritchard
Mrs. Olive Lee Roy Pritchard, age 77, of Columbia, Tenn., died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia.
Mrs. Pritchard, born Dec. 31, 1922, in Dodridge County, W. Va., to David V. Roy and Wanda Ruth Gatrell Roy, was a retired cashier with Columbia Central High School in Columbia. Mrs. Pritchard was a member of several organizations, including, the United Daughters Confederacy (Stonewall Jackson Chapter), West Virginia Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and the Maury County Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbia.
Mrs. Pritchard is survived by her husband, Roy March Pritchard, of Columbia; two sons, David M. Pritchard, of Forrest City, and Joseph E. Pritchard, of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home of Columbia, Tenn. Reverends Tommy Ward and Tom Smith of First United Methodist Church officiated and burial followed in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tenn., under the direction of Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
Nora Schmitt
Mrs. Nora Schmitt, age 93, of Forrest City, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mrs. Schmitt was born March 17, 1907, to Frank Doane and Nora Hooten Doane. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Schmitt is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Schmitt were Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Williams
Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, age 87, of Dansby, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Theodis Pointer of Dansby and Horace Buford of Forrest City; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Living God Temple #98 with Elder Samuel Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Dansby Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Eva Bray
Mrs. Eva Bray, 91, of Colt, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Wynnwood Nursing Home in Wynne.
Born Aug. 7, 1909, Mrs. Bray was the daughter of John Branstetter and Molly Coley Branstetter. She was a housewife and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by a son, Norman Kilpatrick, of Colt; a daughter, Adalene Hadaway, of Chesterfield, Va.; a sister, Julene Hickok, of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bray were held Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Donnie Wilson officiated. Burial followed in Barnishaw Cemetery near Pine Tree under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
