Marquise Durell George
Marquise Durell George, age 19, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000.
Mr. George was born Oct. 13, 1980, in Forrest City, to Melvin Earl and Vester Lee Ann George.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Melvin E. George Jr., of Tallahassee, Fla., Mario A. George, of Forrest City; a sister, Monique S. George, of Forrest City; his grandparents, Elamie Mooney, Ulas Aldridge, and Eula Aldridge, all of Forrest City and Joe Nash, of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Marianna Funeral Home and Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Forrest City. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church with Elder M. D. Dedner. Burial will be in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home.
Iva Jarman
Iva Jarman, age 80, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, in Forrest City.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Frymire, of Hughes, Ann Bailey, of Forrest City; three sons, Billy Jarman, of Wabash, Gene Jarman, of Colt, Robert Jarman, of Proctor; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home.
Michael Charles Turner
Mr. Michael Charles Turner, 44, of Colt, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Turner is survived by his parents, Hurley V. Turner and Gernice Turner, of Colt; five sisters, Teresa Rogers, Patricia Turner, both of Colt, Mae Francis Hughes, Alfreda Rice, Charlene Gilkey, all of Little Rock; and eight brothers, Ewell Turner, Tracy Turner, both of Colt, George Turner, of Pine Bluff, Dennis Turner, Thurston Turner, Granvle Turner and Hurley D. Turner, all of Little Rock.
Visitation for Mr. Turner will be Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Wynne and Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah M. B. Church in Colt. Funeral services for Mr. Turner will be Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah M. B. Church with burial to follow at Clark Cemetery in Colt under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Wynne.
Michael Charles Turner
Mr. Michael Charles Turner, 44, of Colt, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Turner is survived by his parents, Hurley V. Doris H. Cooper
Doris H. Cooper, age 88, of Caldwell, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Mrs. Cooper was born Nov. 23, 1911, in St. Louis, Mo. and was a farmer.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie Holmes, of Caldwell, Connie Holmes, of St. Louis, Mo.; nine daughters, Arleatha Cooks, Doreatha Black, Dorothy Mae White, Everlyn George and Anna Marie Hamilton, all of Forrest City, Ella Hall, of Covert, Mich., Lovie Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., Arlean Henderson, of Earle, Earnestine Holmes, of Caldwell; 78 grandchildren, 151 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Days Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder John Henry Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Garden Cemetery in Edmondson under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Doyle Calvert Tyer
Doyle Calvert Tyer, 51, of McCrory, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, near the Penrose Community of Woodruff County.
Mr. Tyer was born Sept. 13, 1948 in Searcy to Daisye Calvert Tyer and Richard Doyle Tyer. He attended McCrory schools and Arkansas State University. He worked for Sanyo Manufacturing as a vice president/corporate controller, was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Forrest City Chamber of Commerce, the McCrory Youth Program, the North East Arkansas Razorback Club and was the coordinator of the Fall Adult Co-Ed Softball League in McCrory.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Frymire; two sons, Steven Doyle Tyer and Shawn Eric Tyer, both of McCrory; his mother; a sister, Virginia Ann Fitzwater, of Forrest City; and a grandson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Morton Baptist Church near McCrory. Burial will be in Fakes Cemetery under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the McCrory Youth Program.
Mary Bonner
Mary Bonner, 93, of Marianna died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 in her home.
Mrs. Bonner was a homemaker and a member of Elcannon M.B. Church in Palestine
She is survived by a daughter, Elnora Dawkins; a son, Larry Holland; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Bonner will be Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home in Marianna. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at noon at Elcannon M.B. Church with burial to follow in Elcannon Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Vivian Rene Garrett
Vivian Rene Garrett, 39, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in her home.
Garrett was born June 12, 1961, in Ozark to Ellen Long Edmondson and Sam Garrett. She was employed by Edmondson Management and was a two time All-State basketball player at Palestine. She was a Mormon.
She is survived by her mother; her step-father, Don Edmondson; two sisters, Sharon Midgett, of Jonesboro and Jennifer Edmondson, of Forrest City, a niece and nephew.
Graveside services for Ms. Garrett will be Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at 3 p.m. in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
The family requests that all memorials be sent to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Rockley G. Parke
Rockley G. Parke, 89, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at Cross Ridge Hospital in Wynne.
Mr. Parke, born Sept. 6, 1910, in Clarendon, was the son of Preston Parke and Annebelle Parke.
Mr. Parke is survived by his wife, Nora Caldwell Parke; one son Paul Parke of Forrest City; one step-son, Tony McCurley of Forrest City; two daughters, Eloise Rice of Aurora, Ill. and Juanita Jonutz of Sheridan, Ill.; one step-daughter, Helen Bennett of Colt; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, between 7-9 P.M. at the Fowler Funeral Home of Brinkley.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 18, 2000, at 2 P.M. at Fowler Chapel with burial in Blackton Cemetery under the direction of Fowler Funeral Home.
Newton R. Dodson
Newton R. Dodson, 80, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Alan Brook Nursing Care in Memphis.
Born Jan. 18, 1920, Dodson was the son of Cyrus Dodson and Annie Thomas Dodson. He was a World War II veteran and was awarded two Purple Hearts during his tour of duty. Mr. Dodson was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church.
In 1954 Dodson married Dorothy Kiniman Dodson and she survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Dr. Debra Louise Dodson of East Windsor, N.J., Dottie Harness of Germantown, Tenn.; a brother, Thomas Dodson of Forrest City; a sister, Elizabeth Burns of Palestine; and three grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Dodson, will be Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at 3 p.m. in Stevens Chapel with Rev. Paul Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
