J. H. "Mutt" Chappel
Mr. J. H. "Mutt" Chappel, 79, of Jonesboro, died Friday, July 28, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenfield, Chappel lived in Jonesboro most of his life. He was the owner and operator of the Milky Way Drive In for 22 years. He was a member of the Prospect M.B. Church, where he was a deacon, and was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Chappel is survived by his wife, Evelyn Harris Chappel, of Jonesboro; one son, Gary Chappel, of Texarkana, Texas; two daughters, Karen Moore, of Hot Springs and Marilyn Townsend, of Forrest City; four sisters, Floy Prat and Lavonda Marie Branham, both of Jonesboro, Mildred Jones, of Walcott and Mary Emma Stevens, of Oxnard, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Ann Chappel.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 2000, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Gregg Funeral, with Rev. Emmett McCrackin officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
For memorials, the family requests that consideration be given to the Prospect Baptist Church growth fund.
Esther D. Hudson
Mrs. Esther D. Hudson, 87, of Cordova, Tenn., died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Cordova Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, in Cordova.
Mrs. Hudson was a retired domestic worker.
She is survived by a son, Steve Hudson, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hudson will be Friday, Aug. 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church in Madison. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home.
Ellis D. Mills Sr.
Mr. Ellis D. Mills, Sr., 75, of Forrest City, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Mills was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Pots Camp, Miss. He was the son of George Frank Mills and Carrie Whiteside Mills. He has been a Forrest City resident for the past 50 years. He was a former AP&L lineman and a general contractor. Mr. Mills was a member of the First Baptist Church, Forrest City Mustang Booster Club and he was a Veteran of World War II.
In 1964 Mr. Mills married Betty Peterson Mills and she survives him along with two daughters, Vicki Forrester Downs, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Leith Mills Hoggard of Jonesboro; two sons, Chuck Forrester and Don Mills, both of Forrest City; four brothers, Tallmadge Mills, Vernon Mills and Clinton Mills, both of Hickory Flat, Miss., Frank Mills, of West Memphis; a sister, Elizabeth Sebastian, of West Memphis; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Mills were held Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Minton officiated and Rev. Alan Smith assisted. Burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Sherri Tatum
Mrs. Sherri Tatum, 52, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in her home.
Born Sept. 23, 1947, in Texas, Mrs. Tatum was the daughter of George and Dorothy Clark. She was a retired saleslady.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Tatum and also her father. Mrs. Tatum is survived by her mother, Dorothy Alquinson, of Texas; one son, Reubin Gervais, of Forrest City; a step-daughter, Wilma Powell of Forrest City; a brother, Danny Clark, of Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Lewis, Barbara Becker and Kay Sanchez, all of Texas, and Mary Deckard of Louisiana; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Tatum will be Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Morgan Chapel with Bro. Rayburn Melton officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Craighead County under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Wyland C. Douglas
Mr. Wyland C. Douglas, 26, of Colt died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in his home.
Born Aug. 12, 1974, he was the son of Frank Douglas and Ruby McCrary Douglas. He was a logger and a Pentecostal.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Angela, of Colt; a son, Austin, of Colt; three brothers Gary Douglas, Jason Douglas, and Timmy Douglas, all of Colt; his grandmother Ila McCrary, of Wynne.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Morgan Chapel with Bro. J. T. Baskins officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery near Wynne under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Devella A "Peggy" Babb
Mrs. Devella A. "Peggy" Babb, age 89, of Newport, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000.
Mrs. Babb was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dudley G. Babb.
Mrs. Babb is survived by three sons; James D. Babb of Cordova, Tenn.; Mickey Babb of Tuckerman, and Denny Babb of Hughes; two brothers; Denny Willette, of Springfield, Mo. and Ross Willete of Aurora, Ill; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at 3:00 p.m. at Roller Citizen Funeral Home in West Memphis.Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Louis Williams
Mr. Louis Williams, age 41, of Marianna, died Friday ,Aug. 18, 2000, at the Helena Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Williams was a commercial truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Osea Williams of Marianna; two step sons; Aaron Creggett, of Okinawa, Japan; Samuel Cregget, of Marianna; two step daughters, Monica Cregget of Arkadelphia; Cashe Cregget, of Mariannna; three brothers; Master Sargent Jerome Williams, of Fort Carson, Col.; Tyrone Harris, of Little Rock and Lawrence Brown, of Conway; three sisters; Barbara Martin, of Little Rock; Julia Blakely, of Chicago, Ill.; and Jackie Randall, of West Helena.; mother, Ann Willliams of West Helena; father, Louis Williams of Cleveland , Ohio; grandparents, Julia Wells of West Helena; and Primus Wells, of Chicago, Ill.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Truevine Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at 2p.m. at Salem M. B. Church in Forrest City. Rev. Frederick Clay will officiate. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Christian Way Funeral of Pine Bluff and Brown's Christian Way Funeral Home of West Helena.
Clara Elizabeth Cagle
Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Cagle, age 62, of Heth, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Cagle was a factory worker for Avon Products Inc. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Cagle, of Heth; two sons, Sammy Ray Young, of Heth, Robert Gleen Young, of Heth; two sisters, Maggie Lucas, of Proctor, Patricia Partain, of Wheatley; a brother, Roger Moore, of Heth; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cagle will be Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in the Chapel of Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
Earnestine Taylor
Mrs. Earnestine Taylor, age 82, of Marianna, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Taylor was a retiree and a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church in Felton.
She is survived by her husband, Clemmie Taylor, of Marianna; a son, Harold Ewell, of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Jennie Trice, of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held for Mrs. Taylor, Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Kennedy Chapel in Marianna. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at noon at Bethel C.M.E. Church in Felton with Rev. David Avant officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Ronnie Joe Roderick
Mr. Ronnie Joe Roderick, aged 54, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Aug. 26, in Palestine.
He was born Feb. 28, 1946, in Rolla, Mo., the son of Harold Roderick and Gladys Jones Roderick. He was a truck driver and a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Roderick is survived by two sons, Ronnie Joe Roderick, of Forrest City and Donald Joe Roderick, of Palestine; two daughters, Veronica Clark of Palestine and Kimberly Adams of Florida; a sister, Carolyn Sue Fight of Missouri; his father; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held graveside at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Bell Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
