Richard Ellis Graves Sr.
Mr. Richard Ellis Graves Sr., age 83, of Forrest City, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Graves, born April 9, 1917, was the son of William Austin Graves and Emma Johnson Graves. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II were he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He is survivd by his wife, Betty Eloise Nold Graves, of Forrest City; a son, Richard Ellis Graves Jr., of Forrest City; a daughter, Mary Pearson, of Forrest City; a sister, Mildred Stough, of North Little Rock; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Graves were held Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemeter under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Earl Johnson, Sr.
Earl Johnson, Sr., age 85, of Fair, Miss., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000.
Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Johnson, two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by six daughters, four sons, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Gunn Funeral Home in Little Rock. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at 11 a.m., at Gunn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery in Forrest City. Gunn Funeral Home in Little Rock is in charge of the arrangements.
John W. Maddox
Mr. John W. Maddox, age 44, of West Fork, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Maddox, born Dec. 29, 1955, in Monrovia, Calif., was the son of Oswell Eugene and Ova Ballard Maddox. He was a master electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local 1516 and a member of the Hazel Valley Community Church. He served in the Army with the 151st Screaming Eagles.
He is survived by his parents, both of Lake Village; his wife Helen Maddox, of West Fork; three sons, Jay Smith, Michael Smith, both of Arkadelphia, Steven Maddox, of Forrest City; a step-son, Clint Brown; a brother, Ronald Maddox, of Alaska; a sister, Betty Burton, of Lake Village and four grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Maddox were held Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial followed at Brannon Mountain Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Ben Watson
Mr Ben Watson, aged 69, of Wynne, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 at his home.
He was born March 24, 1931 in Burnsville, Miss., and was a retired truck driver, having driven for Halstead Industries, D&G; Trucking and Mid-Western Trucking. He was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church.
Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Watson and Ola Nancy McGee Watson; his wife, Wanda Hicks Watson; a son, Benny Watson; a daughter, Sandra Tucker, a brother, William Watson and a sister, Lois Taegtmeyer.
Suvivors include a brother, Edward Watson of Wynne; sisters Edna Leonard and Doris Merrell, both of Wynne; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne today, Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at 11 a.m. with burial following in Cogbill Cemetery.
Martha Ann Hill Webb
Mrs. Martha Ann Hill Webb, age 48, of Marianna, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
Mrs. Webb, born May 23, 1952, was the daughter of James Hill and Wanda Eubanks. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marianna.
She is survived by her mother, Wanda Hill, of Marianna; husband, Jerry Webb, of the home; a daughter; Courtney Webb, of Marianna; a son, Clint Webb, of Marianna and a sister, Susan Farrell, of San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation services for Mrs. Webb will be Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna. Funeral services for Mrs. Webb, will be Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, in Marianna, with Rev. Bennie Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Marianna Memorial Park, under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of Marianna.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Eula Mae Bryant
Mrs. Eula Mae Bryant died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at her daughter's home.
She was born in Pleasant Plains, and lived most of her life in Forrest City. She was owner of Arden Ann Motor Lodge and was a member of the Lindauer Road Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frederick Eugene Whitted and Morgan Young Bryant. She is survived by two daughters, Paricia Arden Holowell of Forrest City and Elizabeth Ann "Mitzi" Bryant of Lincoln; a sister, Otha Siler of Rondo; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Bryant will be Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Lindauer Road Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to the St. Francis County Humane Society or Lindauer Road Church of Christ.
Gustava Willis Davis
Mrs. Gustava Willis Davis, age 81, of Forrest City, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Davis, born Jan. 19, 1919, in Forrest City, was the daughter of Andrew Willis and Agnes Curry Willis.
She is survived by four daughters, Alberta Winston of Detroit, Mich., Gloria Davis, Jeanette Norris both of Chicago, Ill., Winfred Bell of Madison; six sons, William Rucker, L.T. Davis, Melvin Davis all of Chicago, Ill., Joe Davis, Walter Davis, David Davis all of Forrest City; two sisters, Geneva Smith of Forrest City, Olivia Drain of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, John Willis of Madison; 50 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Davis will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Willis Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder J.D. Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Raymond Henry Reddell
Mr. Raymond Henry Reddell, age 83, of Newport, died Sunday, Dec.17, 2000.
Mr. Reddell was born Feb. 21, 1917, in Sulpher Rock and was the son of Albert and Pearl Reddell.
He was a retired service station owner and operator and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Newport.
Mr. Reddell is survived by a son, Rudy Beede, of Forrest City; two daughters, Jean Lucas, of Newport, Sue Ann Emery, of Marion; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Claude Rogers, Anderew Rogers and Jack Rogers.
Funeral services for Mr. Reddell will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Jackson Funeral Home in Newport with Bro. Joe Buttgen officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Newport.
Jeremy Mart Thigpen
Mr. Jeremy Mart Thigpen, age 26, of Cabot, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Thigpen, born April 16, 1974, in Memphis, was the son of Franklin Thigpen and Glenda Martin Thigpen, of Palestine. Before moving to Cabot he lived in Goodwin, Forrest City and Jonesboro. He was a member of the McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.
Mr. Thigpen is survived by his father; a brother, Jeffery Thigpen, of Cabot; his maternal grandmother, Troy Martin of McCrory, and his paternal grandmother, Elrea Kyzer of Forrest City.
Visitation services for Mr. Thigpen will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Thigpen will be held Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Twin Assembly of God Church in Palestine with burial in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Jean Howard McGee
Mr. Jean Howard McGee, age 83, of Forrest City, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. McGee was retired from Thermogas and he was a Baptist.
He is survived by a son, Jean Howard McGee Jr. of Walls, Miss.; a daughter, Dianne Kennedy of Forrest City; a brother, Phillip McGee of West Helena; a sister, Hazel Oxner of Benton; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. McGee will be at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Dwayne Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Barnishaw Cemetery.
