Jack "Calvin" Clark Sr.
Mr. Jack Calvin Clark Sr., age 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Madison.
Mr. Clark was born April 30, 1926, to his father, Rufus Clark, and his mother, Florence Clark. He was a retired carpenter and a farmer.
Mr. Clark is survived by two sons, Lonnie Clark, of Texas, Jack Clark Jr., of Forrest City; a daughter, Virginia Driggers, of South Carolina; a sister, Mildred Crow, of Colt; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Clark will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Morgan Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at 10 a.m., in Bell Cemetery, near Palestine, with Bro. W.L. Prentiss officiating. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Taffie Ivey
Mr. Taffie Ivey, age 78, of Madison, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Conway Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ivey was born July 23, 1922, in Marianna. He was a retired machinist at Yale Hoist, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Ivey is survived by four sons, Gregory Ivey, of Conway, Gary Ivey, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Michael Ivey and Taffie Ivey Jr., both of California; four daughters, Treva Burns, of Sherwood, Kezia Ivey, of Conway, Doris Wright, of Milwaukee, Wis., Gale Ivey, of California; a brother, R.L. Ivey, of Toledo, Ohio; five sisters, Mandy Anderson, of Detroit, Mich., Parrie Hale, Jeffrey Hicks, Jessie Mae Hunter, Salina Jackson, all of Marianna.
Funeral services for Mr. Ivey will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at 1 p.m., at Days Temple Church of God in Christ, with the Elder John Henry Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Scott-Bond Cemetery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Willie Rachel
Mr. Willie Rachel, age 88, of Aubrey, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Aubrey.
Mr. Rachel was a farmer and was a member of Hemshire M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Izola Rachel; three daughters, Gearidine Huey, Helen Largin and Earma Collins, all of St. Louis, Mo.; six sons, Willie Rachel Jr., of Little Rock, Ray Rachel, of Memphis, Tenn, James Rachel, Frank Rachel and Dean Rachel, all of Chicago, Ill., Kenneth Rachel, of Aubrey; two sisters, Velma Rachel and Ceola Westbrook, both of Marianna; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Rachel will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at 11 a.m., at Hemshire M.B. Church, with the Rev. Letham Ester officiating. Burial will follow in the Marianna Cemetery. Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Earnestine Brown
Mrs. Earnestine Brown, age 43, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Brown, born Aug. 30, 1957, to Lepoleon Nelson and Lillie Nelson. She was a teacher in the Forrest City School District, and a member of Jerusalem M.B. Church.
She is survived by her parents; her husband, Billy Brown of Forrest City; two daughters, Shericka Brown, Pharon Brown, both of Forrest City; three brothers, Lepolean Nelson Jr. of Conway, Edward Nelson of Little Rock and Christopher Nelson of Atlanta, Ga.; and three sisters, Patricia Foley, Peggy Nelson, both of Little Rock and Bytha Mills of Troy, Mich.
Visitation for Mrs. Brown will be Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem M.B. Church with Rev. Darris Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Walter Eugene Ferguson
Mr. Walter Eugene Ferguson, age 84, of Decatur, Ga., died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Decatur.
Mr. Ferguson was born May 18, 1916, in Forrest City, to Elton Theophlius Ferguson and Eva Marie Bernard. He spent most of his life in Forrest City and retired to Heber Springs. Mr. Ferguson was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ora Baty, and a son Tommy Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his present wife, Evelyn Darcy, of Decatur, Ga.; three sons, James Ferguson of Clinton, Tenn., Walter Ferguson of Dickson, Tenn., and Jackie Darcy of Atlanta, Ga., and a sister, Louise Moore of Forrest City.
Funeral services for Mr. Ferguson will be Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lloyd Blauton officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Stanley Eugene McKee
Mr. Stanley Eugene McKee, age 55, of Colt, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at his home.
Mr. McKee, born Dec. 13, 1945, in Wynne, was the son of Eugene Waylon McKee and Dorothy Leona Casida. He was a laborer at the Pine Tree Experiment Station and he was a member of the Pine Tree Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother of Searcy; his wife, Anna McKee of Colt; two sons, Jason McKee, of Colt, James McKee of Searcy; three daughters, Laura Youngman of Illinois, Sandra Parson of Colt and Tammy McKee of Colt; two brothers, Jesse McKee and Ronnie McKee, both of Pangburn; a sister, Belinda McKee of Searcy and four grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. McKee will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Pine Tree Baptist Church with Bro. David Yates officiating and assisted by Bro. John Latham. Burial will follow at Barnishaw Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Irene Adams
Mrs. Irene Adams, age 78, of Helena, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Helena.
Mrs. Adams was born July 22, 1922, in Aubrey, and was the daughter of Noble Norwood and Willie McGrew. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Helena, the Association of Arkansas Counties and the Horizon Club of Union Planters Bank.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Adams. She is survived by a daughter, Sue White, of Forrest City; a step-daughter, Peggy Priefert, of Lamar; a sister, Nobye Allen, of San Marcos, Texas; a brother, Thurston Norwood, of Poplar Grove; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Adams were held Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Roller-Citizens Chapel, with the Rev. J.E. Elliott officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Helena was in charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Diabetes Association.
Amanda Bell Clark
Mrs. Amanda Bell Clark, age 92, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Clark was born on Aug. 2, 1908, to Joseph Lee and Rebecca Sutterfield Reece near Big Flat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Warner Clark and two sons, Charles Clark and William Clark Jr.
Mrs. Clark is survived by five daughters, Portia Clark, Kathleen Fritts, both of Jacksonville, Shirley Melbos, of Pomona, Calif., Leoda Brown, of Bakersville, Calif., Zella Mathews, of Gill; a brother, Silas Reece, of Christina, Tenn.; a sister, Ellen Sutterfield, of Mariannna; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna, with the Rev. Eugene McCain officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery, in Salem. Roller-Citizen Funeral Home of Marianna was in charge of the arrangements.
Woodrow Holman
Mr. Woodrow Holman, age 82, of Colt, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Holman was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Minters, Ala., and was the son of Mrs. Zula Estelle Burkes Holman and Mr. Absalom Morgan Holman. He had made his home in Pine Tree all of his life where he was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Pine Tree Baptist Church and the Arkansas Farm Bureau.
Mr. Holman was married to Miss Dorothy K. Hylander in 1939. She survives him along with one son, Woodrow Wilson Jr., of Charlotte; one daughter, Linda McKee, of Pine Tree; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Holman were held at the Pine Tree Baptist Church, Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000. Burial followed in the Barnishaw Cemetery at Pine Tree. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Rita C. Hutcherson
Mrs. Rita C. Hutcherson, age 71, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Hutcherson was born March 23, 1929, in Heth, and was the daughter of Russell Chapman and Nevia Melton Chapman. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life and was a housewife. She attended the Valley View Christian Church.
Mrs. Hutcherson was married to Dois Hutcherson Sr. in 1957, and he survives her along with three sons, James Cleaver, Dois Hutcherson Jr., both of Forrest City, Don Hutcherson, of Paragould; three brothers, Ray Chapman, of Forrest City, Bill Chapman, of Oklahoma, Carl Chapman, of Little Rock; a sister, Ruby Sherrill of Forrest City; eight grandchiildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, John Cleaver.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hutcherson were held Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
